Actually love this group as opposed to it being a boring easy group at a normal kick off time

Same, this is way more exciting then possibly playing Colombia/South Korea and scraping a draw/win..

My beloved Greece are all set to make it to the knock out stages but am afraid I can't say the same for England. The only chance of success we have is if Roy plays something like this:

Henderson - Wilshere - Gerrard

Welbeck - Carroll - Sturridge

No time for Rooney, he has failed us too many times, big Andy is getting the nod

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon

Interesting group which contains my sweep also. Brazil the only obvious qualifier maybe. After that there will be tough competition on the second spot. To me any of the three could get it.

Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Spain and Netherlands go through, Chile will not quite make it and Australia will be a clear fourth.

Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan

Tough and even group and i think any one of them can qualify or not. I predict Colombia and Ivory Coast will qualify.

Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy

Tough group again. One thing is for sure Costa Rica will have a tough time even scoring against these teams. Others will have a battle for survival with each other.

If i had to predict now, i think Italy will win the group with 7 points, Uruguay comes second (5 pts.) with one point ahead of England who will probably finish third (4 pts.).
Costa Rica loses all of their three games. England got unlucky with their draw.

Group E: Switzerland, France, Ecuador, Honduras

Boring group. France got very lucky and will easily qualify from the group. Switzerland will get the second spot with a little offense from Ecuador. Honduras will be fourth, but maybe not get thrashed as it would have against some other teams.

Group F: Argentina, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria

Argentina is a clear qualifier, Iran and Nigeria will battle for second place (Nigeria will just edge it out) and Bosnia will finish fourth.

Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA

The death group. Germany and Portugal will be the favourites, but i wouldn´t surprise if Ghana or USA grab the second place over one of them. But only with a perfect play and tactics and avoiding mistakes will get them there.

Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea

Okay group IMO. Algeria is a clear nominee to finish fourth in this group, but after that it´s anyone´s game. I predict Russia and South Korea advancing forward.

Drew.

If Brazil are the Man United of world football, Spain the Chelsea, Italy the Liverpool and Argentina the Arsenal, then England are the West Ham of world football.
The format of the World Cup is unlike any domestic competition, but more similar to the FA Cup than to the Premier League. West Ham have won the FA Cup three times, at an average of one win every 44 FA Cups held.
England have already won one World Cup from just 19 tournaments. Therefore England may well have to pay another 69 tournaments if try stick to being west ham. In other words, it could well be another 276 years before England are World Champions.
We really shouldn't get our hopes up.

I was thinking that too. BBC are hyping Italy up as England's biggest rivals on the BBC Sport website but there's nothing to say they'll do better than what they did in 2010.

Wonder what the controversy will be this time... there's always been at last one per tournament  Lampard's disallowed goal, Suarez's illegal handball both in 2010, Zidane's headbutt in 2006.

He has an American Parent and a German Parent, that's why he's eligible for the USMNT. His eligiblity is Germany so he'd have to take the one time switch not sure. Has not played with Germany though.

Walcot has probably got the worse footballing brain I've seen for ages. He winds me up cuz if you hear any top players talk about him they will talk of his pace, yet how many times do we see him cutting in on the wing trying to make space for a shot thinking he's Arjen Robben. Walcott cant do that even if he tries it 100 times in a game. Walcott can worry any defender in te world but so often you him quite frankly clueless as to what to do with the ball at his feet. Its been 8 years since Sven picked him for the World cup and I dont think he's improved very much in that time. And in that time look at how much Rooney, Wilshere, etc have improved.

He'll go to the world cup and be used as a sub but he's not got it IMO. And other player have improved so much more than him over the past 8 years.

I'm not a Walcott fan. Sterling look great ATm. He plays with his head up and pick a pass. Something Walcott hasnt quite learned in the 8 years since he burst on the scene.
