Coronation Street finishes filming at Granada Studios for the final time

Coronation Street will be the last show filmed at Granada Studios, the final scenes at the old set will finish over the next week or so, before the show's production goes on a Christmas break, following Christmas, filming will begin at the Trafford Wharf studios.

Wow, it's strange seeing the street boxed in like that.

I remember going there early this year, it was weird walking around it as in real life it's surrounded by so many tall buildings, that, and the street itself was tiny!

The new exterior set is identical to the old one on Manchester's Quay Street but the buildings and street have been scaled up to make them more realistic

Coronation Street films its final scenes on its world famous set this week and star Paula Lane said: “It’s bound to be emotional.”

Bosses have recreated Weatherfield at a new facility and scaled up buildings to make them more realistic.

Paula, 27, who plays bolshy stylist Kylie Platt, said: “It’s sad to be leaving but I do like change and I think the move is going to be great for us.

“[The new location] feels enormous but I’m tiny so everything seems big to me.

“But it looks the same and you can still feel the warmth of Corrie.

“I was also glad to see the Platts’ house, Nick’s Bistro and Audrey’s Salon are still there on the new set, so I’m thrilled about that - Kylie’s home and work.”

The soap is moving from Quay Street in central Manchester to the outskirts at Trafford. The final shoot will be on Friday

Same :shocked: though I was shocked to find out the girl who plays Izzy is 38, I thought she was still in her 20s!

Apparently they all filmed their final scenes in the Granada Rovers today, none of the old sets at Granada will be taken over I hear, everything will be completely new.

It is next year in early Jan. They've finished for the Christmas break. Filming resumes in the new year on the new set.

I'd guess either February or March, they film the first scenes at Trafford on Jan 7th
