I can see many similarities between the two shows.

Friends used to get massive ratings and now BBT is doing the same thing getting nearly 15 - 20 million viewers each week.

Friends were constantly on Channel 4, then E4 and now Comedy Central, the same is happening to the BBT, every time I turn on C4 or E4 it seems to be a Big Bang Theory episode on.

Both shows seem to dumb down as seasons go on, for example Sheldon in early season used to know everything and never drunk, but in recent seasons he seems stupider and in a recent episode he got pissed after drinking beer.

So is the Big Bang Theory the new Friends? Are we going to have 10 seasons of BBT and constant rumors of a comeback 10 years down the line?

As much as I love Big Bang, I think that it's a comedy of its own and not that of friends. How I Met Your Mother is more like friends, as they're all fairly normal people. Big Bang is more a series of misfits, which makes it special.

Love TBBT and also How I met your mother is great.

Friends will always be the greatest though for me.

Doesn't really have the charm of Friends, don't find any of the characters are really relateable or that likeable, surprised it's still going that strongly

I never liked friends, it was too 'shmultzy' BBT is great, the casting was excellent! Sheldon is a ledge :D

This. I've never really given The Big Bang Theory a chance though, my friend got me Series 1-4 on DVD for my 21st and I still haven't gotten round to watching any of it... I will eventually. I don't think they're really comparable, different styles of humour. I'm surprised it's so popular though, kind of thought it was a cult comedy in America. I guess it doesn't have much in the way of competition.

I like Big Bang but Friends is superior in every aspect.
