View Full Version : British Police 'preparing to make arrests' in Madeleine McCann case
better than locking it so that staff could get access - who knows what the thought process was but as responsible parents they made that call based on circumstances at that time
...they didn't have to leave them alone at all, that would have been the 'responsible' thing to do...no other 'precautions' would have been necessary...

In your opinion, there is no "responsible thing to do" as you just made that up based on your own opinion.

It does not. What they did was their business and their children. I guess when and if you have children you will bring them up how you see fit within the laws of the land.
And I suspect you will hope that you dont get every keyboard warrior in the UK scoring you out of ten
They put the case out in the media, they put every detail in shows like Crimewatch. I am entitled to my opinion, so drop the attitude.
I'll bring my own experiences into the equation when it becomes relevant.
Something doesn't have to be illegal to be irresponsible. Stupidity isn't illegal but it can lead to awful consequences.

..leaving young children alone in an apartment unsupervised is an extreme and not responsible parenting at all, which you probably know..it's not what most parents do and especially as restaurants abroad so warmly welcome children and families, there was absolutely no need to consider it at all..and it's resulted in a child going missing..that isn't just 'their business' which can't be dismissed as..oh, it's their child/their business, who cares really...

I agree. social services have been brought in for far far less and in many cases taken the kids away. if theyd acted sooner and known of this gross negligence earlier perhaps maddie would still be safe

Come back when you have raised some kids
I have a three year old now...I certainly would never leave him unattended at night in a strange bedroom, to go for drinks leaving the door unlocked. I am sure with hindsight they certainly wish they had not taken the chance so they could enjoy a quiet meal....I personally don't think that they had anything do with Maddies disappearance and think the amount of hate levelled at them on the internet is vile BUT the simple fact remains - they left their children and have kept the story in the public domain and so people will feel they are with their right to comment.

Do you need a manual reference to know not to let a 2 year old cross the road alone too?
I would think some things are common sense.

The McCanns were wrong to do what they did and probably regret it every single day of their lives. For people to continue to point score because the parents went for a meal and left the children is ridiculous. The little girl got taken. THAT should be the main focus of attention not a competition to prove some people are better parents than others.

how do you know they havent? the fact they did it all the time in portugal isnt a good start and shows the pattern.....they also admitted in interview they had done it since. the question is how often?

I know they admitted they'd done it plenty times prior to Maddie's disappearance but haven't heard them say they've done it since.
The fact they would even contemplate doing it since Maddie was taken is unbelievable.
You seem to be accusing them of malpractice, now answer my question about your children
Stupid question. How do we know you haven't left your kids alone?
Either debate the thread topic without getting personal with other forum members or leave the thread, that's aimed at both of you. Infractions will be handed out if you continue.

Maybe when the parents admit that they were wrong rather than coming out with rubbish such as a social worker told them their behavior was well within the bounds of responsible parenting(if true that social worker should be sacked immediately), and that they did nothing at all wrong that night..people will stop bringing it up. Maybe not, but they have NEVER admitted they were wrong to go on the piss and leave 3 small kids alone. Neither have their friends as far as I am aware, who also neglected their kids (though some had the sense to use a baby monitor aswell as checking..which is slightly better)
Also there is no proof at all that the girl was 'taken' besides the words of the McCanns...no DNA, no fingerprints, no signs of burglary, zilch.
However I agree that the main focus of attention should be finding out what happened to her, and finding her (or her body)

The fact that they would do it again the night after after being asked by their 3 year old child where they were the night before when she was crying for hours...is unbelievable to me too tbh

Oh yeah, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that on the crime watch reconstruction.

'Redwood said the assumption that Madeleine had been alive when she left the apartment "may not follow with all our thinking" on the case.'
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/mar/19/madeleine-mccann-police-intruder-girls-algarve
Hmm. Ignoring the rest because basically I think its more rubbish that will lead to nothing, SY thinking, or even considering that MM was dead upon leaving the apartment is very interesting. Especially given the dogs..maybe they were right?
Cadaverine takes 2 hours to develop. If this intruder removed a dead body, the body must have been there for 2 hours at least. Which means either they killed her then went back for the body (which messes up the timelines a bit..) or she was dead when the intruder entered and they chose to take a corpse :S
Or the parents accidentally killed her, calmly went for dinner, came back every so often to check they were still asleep, eventually realised she was dead and got rid of the body... makes far more sense to me...

I think they gave her too much sleeping medication and it killed her, so they dumped the body

Yes and they could have realistically not realised she was dead for over two hours if they were out at dinner all evening with their friends and only popping their head round the door to check the kids were all still in bed every so often, which would explain the presence of cadaverine.
