EastEnders bosses have announced that Matt Di Angelo is returning to the soap.

The actor will return to filming in February in his role as Deano Wicks, the estranged son of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

Deano last appeared on screen in February 2008, when he left Walford after experiencing a tough time in prison.

Shirley currently believes that her son is working in a bar in Australia. However, she will be shocked later this year when her father Stan (Timothy West) informs her that Deano is now going by the name of Dean and is much closer to home.

Speaking of his EastEnders return, Di Angelo commented: "It's such an exciting time for the show and the Carter/Wicks family that I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to reprise the role of Dean! I'm looking forward to getting back on the Square."

ap in the eastenders thread but yeah I'm looking forward to it since he was really damaged when he came out of prison and it was really interesting how he changed

One of the most nuanced, complex young characters in the show and whilst his acting was mainly **** when he was there his last episode showed promise, and he's matured into a fine young actress. Got to be careful to not overdo it with the Carters though - we already have Tim and Shirl's aunt appearing in a week or two.

I'd be all up for Sean returning what with Stacey back an' all, actually.

The same thing always happens LOL, think they are better than Eastenders and try other ventures such as Strictly etc..
Try some other shows with limited success which results in them being forced back to eastenders

Lucy's boyfriend (that crazy one who messed her up) attacked Patrick at the MiniMart and Chelsea tried to frame Sean with the help of Deano or something like that

And yeah, Carly found the CCTV footage and Chelsea and Deano got arrested for perverting the course of justice, after which they got released on bail. Sean plunged his head down a toilet or something and he went back to prison? :laugh:

I liked Deano's character, hopefully they give him something good.
