Coronation Street has updated its opening titles, Digital Spy can confirm.

The update to the opening sequence is only minor but reflects the changes to the famous street since the current titles were introduced in mid-2010.

Eagle-eyed fans have often pointed out that the current titles feature two outdated shots as they show the old-style Corner Shop and don't include Nick's Bistro.

The new titles remove these shots and replace them with two new ones - showing the Bistro as well as the updated exterior to the Rovers Return, which was brought in after last year's fire.

Viewers will see the new titles, which are otherwise unchanged, for the first time on Monday (March 10).

Next week's episodes also include the first exterior scenes filmed at the new Coronation Street set in Trafford. The first interior scenes from the soap's new home have already aired.

Doesn't feel that long since they were last updated

It isn't :p the new ones were brought in in 2010, they're probably the shortest lasting set, even though they new titles will be using some of the same shots.

I miss the classic pre 2010 ones

Yeah, not a big fan of the blurry look they went for, though perhaps it wont be as prominent in the new titles.

I was still getting used to the 2010 one but nothing beats the opening titles before that, it felt more real.

I agree, I don't really like the effects they put on

Here's all the titles they've used over the years

They won't really be new though. They're just re-doing some of the shots to include additions to the set.

True, I'm glad they're chaning them though, they've been outdated for ages. Corrie generally only change the titles when something in the production of the show changes
2014 = New set
2010 = HD
2002 = Widescreen

The new shots look a lot better, a lot less washed out, more defined

I don't know why they've replaced a shot right down the street with that one looking at the drab backstreet. Fairly pointless shot.

I think it's a case of they've done it because they now can, before the viaduct used to end just after R'Turreh's strip joint, now it keeps going, lol. Then again, drab backstreets are what Corrie is known for, lol.

I like how it showed more bricks and roofing, reminds me of the old days

I think they tried to avoid making the new set obvious in the episodes by keeping the exteriors done in closeups.

But the closeups showed how new the mortar was in between the bricks. :laugh:

And the window Tim was cleaning looked plastic.

Yeah, when you got a look outside, everything looked strangely a bit bigger and newer :joker:

Generally, they only do big changes to the titles every 10 or so years. The 1977 set lasted until 1990 (with only a small change occouring when they moved to the then-new set.
