Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote is to exit the ITV soap.

The actress - who has appeared as Katy Armstrong since 2010 - will leave Weatherfield at the end of the year.


Personally thought she was prettier than Michelle Keegan. It's bizarre as last week GMF was talking about more juicier plots and signed a new contract.

It's a shame the character had potential and gave Michelle Keegan a run for money in the "hot" girl stakes.

She's been sacked I suspect for annoying tptb imo. It was announced she signed a new contract about 3 weeks ago, then she did the interview when she said her character was a boring "wet mother" and she decided to make the character different from how the writers intended.

I agree she's prettier than Michelle Keegan but I still think Maria is the best looking in it, although katy has youth on her side. Her character is pretty boring though so she wont be missed

I remember reading that interview and thinking those comments were a bit strange at the time, basically saying she herself had tried to take her character down different paths than the show wanted for her by changing up the way she acted Katy
