'Control freak' Steven is rattled by Chris for one mega reason :

He can't work Chris out !

He sees the house as the chess board and the HMs as the pieces. He 'befriends' them in order to control them. Chris is too independent minded and won't be won over by Steven's fake charm. So Steven has decided to turn on him.

Steven is a nasty person and Chris is not a nasty person. When Steven sees that Chris is not nasty like he is, he doesn't understand why? He is used to being around other nasty people and is the type of person who would consider that being nice is being weak. The weak get killed off in the wild. An example would be if Steven and Chris are out in garden by themselves smoking and Steven started to bitch about someone else in the house. Steven as the nasty person, wants Chris to agree and bitch with him. If Chris doesn't, Steven gets the hump and doesn't understand why Chris doesn't want to be nasty like him. Steven might think Chris is "playing a game", he cannot understand that the reason is just that Chris doesn't want to be nasty.
