GRL's 'Simone Battle' dead at 25

Simone Battle, best known as a member of GRL and for her stint on “The X Factor,” has reportedly passed away. She was 25.

A childhood friend of the singer, Derek Butler, posted the following on his Instagram account today

"I'm still in shock and in disbelief to have confirmed the death of my childhood friend @SimoneBattle," read the post.

"Her heart was pure gold and her star power limitless. Rest in sweet peace Angel. #simonebattle #rip #grl"

Posts by stylist Charlie Brianna, singer Drew (who competed against Simone on the first US series of X Factor), and Hit The Floor star Taylour Paige have all posted tributes to Simone.

The 25-year-old singer was found hanging in a closet in her bedroom at her Los Angeles home on Friday morning (September 5). Simone‘s autopsy has not yet been completed, according to the L.A. County Coroner’s Office.

I literally only heard of grl this week. Downloaded ugly heart on Monday and have had it on repeat all week.

These girls were just about to make it big internationally I think aswell Ugly Heart has been at number 4 in this weeks midweeks on the official chart.

Hope the girls continue to perform because they really are talented, brilliant vocals and dancing.

I'm still so shocked by this. Simone was the star of the group in my opinion. The fact that it was suicide and they were literally on the verge of getting massive. It just doesn't make any sense. She must have had extremely deep rooted and well hidden depression. What a terrible, terrible tragedy.
