Arista - are you being serious? Boris Johnson’s involvement and the fact that this has ‘trialed’ for over 12 months, means that the government of the United Kingdom must be aware that there is a huge section of its population who are so poor that they cannot afford to eat properly and regularly, but instead of investigating and identifying the causes of this shocking state-of-affairs and implementing policy changes to redress it, non government bodies have to take the initiative.

I have already stated that this innovation is both brilliant and worthy, but that does not mean that it should be 'crowed about' and worn like some 'Badge of Honour' by any politician, if it is the only action being implemented, with no Government strategy for eradicating the causes of such a shocking state-of-affairs.

As for what New Labour could have done but didn't, that is irrelevant. When a new government assumes power it has a duty to govern 'equitably' in the best interests of all citizen's, and that means correcting the mistakes of any previous government as well as implementing new policies which the outgoing government may have overlooked.

I vote Conservative, so my previous post was certainly not an indictment of the current government in favour of 'New Labour' - far from it - I was merely stating the facts as I see them, because no political party is so perfect that it is beyond reproach -- whether in power or opposition. If only.

Incidentally: do you think I could sell my bin food? I forgot to take the green bin out for collection a few weeks ago and I just can't catch up! It fills before collection day! I've got a bag of Doritos here that the cat got into and I was going to bin. It's probably fine, he's just a kitten and doesn't go outdoors yet so won't have any mouse germs or anything. Some hobo or other will buy them, surely? Say 25p?
