because of sanctions they cannot play under their respective flags

So any majors won when world No 2 Daniil Medvedev and world No 8 Andrey Rublev aren’t allowed to play are meaningless .. this is not the same as missing due to injury

welcome to the top 10, Jessica Pegula after this years Roland Garros :cheer:
very well deserved for such a consistent player, love her style of play a lot, even in early career days when she was ranked below top 300/400
and she is one who doesn't have to play for money, but just for love of this sport
Travisan looks as though she needs to lose a bit of timber

lot of changes of in wta top 10 after RG
Anett Kontaveit either 2nd or 3rd place, depending on Pegula's further results here, if Jess wins RG, Anett will be 3rd, if Jess doesn't win RG, Anett will be 2nd
Pegula hitting top 10 for first time in her career, lots of hard work got her here :clap1: either 9th or 10th
Leylah Fernandez going to climb couple places too in the ranking
Trevisan is going to make a leap upwards in the ranking
Raducanu will drop few places
Badosa will drop few places

strong mental win for her over Begu, now up next the world no.1 Swiatek in her 3rd QF of her career (1st one in RG, other two were at australian open)

wta roland garros singles semi finals
Iga Swiatek vs Daria Kasatkina
Martina Trevisan vs Cori Gauff
let it be Swiatek vs Trevisan in the final then, Gauff needs to save her energy too for the more important doubles, where she and Pegula have more chances than in singles against super swiatek
Fabulous last night watching Nadal crush Djokovic :)
If Nadal wins this competition he will have 22 grand slams to Djokovics 20 meaning Djokovic will have to win another 3 slams to be the best of all time ( on paper)

am not sure about Emma today against Van Uytvanck
Alison really got more match rhythm (better grass prep) in than her recently, more experience too and Emma just returning from some injury problems
Burrage against Tsurenko will first match for women's of the day :)
i see chances for Jodie, Tsurenko well she's not exactly the most tricky opponent and Burrage has got a strong win under her belt in the grass prep, over a top10 player Badosa recently
Watson and Korpatsch, hmm don't rate Heather that high, but same goes for Tamara more of a unknown for me haven't seen games of her that much, i expect a 3 set there and could go either way
Emma is playing against Brienne of Tarth as we speak !

lucky Emma, she didn't play good at all, only lucky that Alison was a huge embarrassment for belgium by playing like an amateur rather than her usual strong self, in smaller tournaments she would've smashed Emma to bits and pieces
but hopefully Caroline can do lords work next round, whom has more slam experience :fc:

omg Pegula's win :cheer: i was so nervous for her, with everything going on around her now, with her mom being ill, and such a solid straight set win over Vekic :o
also i notice her having improved in long rally's + having such a simple yet effective game
zero grass prep whatsoever and still slaying :clap1: also her first match as a top 10 player and she handled that like another day in office

Swiatek against our dutchie Pattinama-Kerkhove today
even if Lesley doesn't win that, she should enjoy herself against currently one of most consistent players
Pegula now against british Harriet Dart, well sorry for Dart but if Jessie plays like she did yesterday, nothing you can do against her, i mean Vekic played great but not great enough against such a solidly consistent player with very little errors

still remains sooo impressive, her making a name for herself now, earning her own bit of money rather than just relying on family wealth, and now to be known as a wta top 10 star rather than just a billionaire heiress
could've easily afforded not to work a day in her life, but this shows her passion, commitment towards this sport
also kinda smart i think, considering into her new marital home, she also bought clay court and hard court practice fields with it
she is a entrepeneur herself as well, co-owner of a food truck service with her sister, as well as being the founder and owner of her skincare line (of which she got other tennis alumni as clients, among those Kim Clijsters)
Lots of Brits having a great tournament actually despite all the focus on Emma and Murray
Watson through to the third round earlier and Boulter and Dart giving good accounts of themselves. Watson might never have had major success but she's carved out a very solid career really over the years

I hope that Norrie can win the men's half.
But realistically I feel like Djokovic is gonna win as he has the best track record on grass, although if I was to tip a dark horse I'd go for Alcaraz, he looks like a really good player.
Kyrgios is a legend

No we missed the first 2 sets….from what we saw and heard he was disruptive and seemed to have wound his opponent up to the point he became frustrated..then actually started playing some tennis. That’s why I judging from what the commentators were saying I saw his behaviour as deliberate. His opponent showed some unacceptable behaviour but I saw that as a result of his behaviour. He clearly needs to control his frustration…it’s really unsettling for the opponent and is perhaps deliberate and part of his game…uncalled for and unacceptable.

Its a tough one as part of me can't stand him, but the other part is waiting to see what he does next  He was shouting at his box and blaming them for stuff. He must be a nightmare to play against but his opponents should be professional enough to zone him out and ignore him. The more he sees it riles them, the more he ramps it up. Its not the behaviour for a major tournament, he even tried to have the umpire changed.

yesterday was a day of mixed results for me
Halep winning comfortably was good one
would've liked to see Pegula having her revenge moment on Martic but i knew Martic would win this, as more of a grass specialist vs someone who had zero grass prep whatsoever this year, understandable considering her mom's illness and everything, and i hope we can see Jessie shine again on hard court season next and for home crowds in washington and at US Open, 3rd round is still not bad here considering grass has never been her ground anyway, 2022 is still an amazing year for her of strong improvements, worthy top 10 star still if you ask me
as for who i can see being contenders now
wouldn't surprise me if we ended up
Cornet vs Martic
Halep vs Tan
Garcia vs Jabeur
Maria vs Niemeier
a very open women's tournament now, and i think no points to be earned has also something to do with many seeded players doing lesser well now, sad about those lower ranked they earn no points so basically will remain lower ranked even if they win
today Van Rijthoven vs Djokovic, omg i am soooo hoping for an upset here too but of course Novak is the heavy favourite here
Alcaraz and Sinner, hmm could be another tough one i think
good on Goffin being in round 4 as well, bit of a late blossomer this one
two dutchmen in round 4 is amazing :clap2:

Seriously though the potential is there for him to be a star player in the future.
A shame about Watson getting knocked out, but tbf she did the best she could do so you can't ask for more than that.
And for me Norrie is having some really good matches this Wimbledon along with Nadal & Kyrgios for me.
I do like Djokovic normally, but his matches this Wimbledon have felt a bit flat so far for me, it's probably because he is so much better than his opponents that it stops feeling like a match.:joker:

not just ATP though, women's also do not earn points here
this will make the rankings look sooo messy
Raducanu had a round 2 exit but will still get into the top 10 instead of Pliskova who is losing lots and lots of points despite getting one round further

but i guess in case of a unseeded win, i think ATP/WTA can make ''protected ranking'' exceptions for these players, into tournaments to come, that they won't have to go through qualifyings etc, or easier to give them wildcards into main draw for next year
I’d hoping either Nadal or Kyrgios stop Djokovic from getting another slam

Well he didn't quite thrash him, apart from the third set.
Going into the US Open Norrie will need to get better at serving aces, especially if he wants to make a Grand Slam final.
But regardless he has had a fantastic tournament, and he did have Djokovic on the ropes in the first set, which going into the tournament nobody would've predicted that Norrie was gonna even do that well, let alone being competitive with Djokovic.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
A little background info
Djokovic was convinced to switch to this diet, which is gluten-free, after a doctor suggested the Serbian star has food allergies.
In 2010, Djokovic met with Dr. Igor Cetojevic, a Bosnian Serb, who believed Djokovic's frequent physical breakdowns in matches were the result of a wheat allergy, Borden wrote.
According to Borden, Cetojevic told Djokovic to put one hand against his stomach while holding the other straight out with his palm up. Cetojevic pushed down on this hand and told Djokovic to resist the pressure, which Djokovic easily did.
Cetojevic then told Djokovic to do the same thing while holding a piece of bread against his stomach, Borden reported. This time, Cetojevic easily pushed Djokovic's hand down.
"He was clearly weaker," Cetojevic told Borden. "It showed that his body was resisting the wheat."

So the attack sounds really harsh then.
I'm gathering Nicky is judging her for being born in Russia? Which imo isn't the way to go about judging someone.
And even if she does support Putin, yes I personally think that's a really horrible viewpoint to have (if she even does support him) but there's so many facets to someone that I always find it personally childish when people are like "oh I don't like you" because we don't agree on one issue.
If it's something really ****ing heinous (say it turned out she was a paedophile) then I would completely understand judging her off that one attribute, but Political views normally have so much depth to them as to why people hold certain beliefs that I personally don't try to judge too harshly.

judging her? :umm2: anyone who would've won here i would've criticized for winning a irrelevant tournament
Rybakina won't be in the end of year finals or she should drastically win a whole load of points asap, but madame withdrew from a recent upcoming tournament which is a mistake  no time for rest especially not after a irrelevant wimbledon year without points

Tbh I wish Wimbledon had've been allowed to have points too, but apparently standing against Putin is a bigger offence than what the Australian Open was pulling with Djokovic, go figure.

WTA is very much enjoyable for me again
Swiatek is a worthy #1
Pegula finally in the top 10, although not in her usual strong form currently which is sad but i can never get mad at this inspirational hard working queen
Raducanu working hard to live up to those expectations, stunning two tie break win in the Citi Open, one round of that
Kanepi getting older but still remaining very much a force to be reckoned with
Halep also nice to see her being a steady top 10-20 player
Kontaveit, Badosa are only unworthy of top 10 for me personally at this moment
we got a new dutch talent upcoming as well, Arianne Hartono, also quite talented from what i've seen from her so far

World Tennis League line up
Location: Dubai, UAE (United Arab Emirates)
Date: December 19-24
World Tennis League: Djokovic, Swiatek and more top stars to compete in Dubai
Spectacular tennis extravaganza planned for December
Dubai: Tennis royalty will descend on Dubai in December to compete in one of the most exciting sporting and music events ever to be held in the Emirates.
The World Tennis League will not only showcase many of the best men and women players in the world, but will also offer a fun-filled format featuring epic two-set battles across both singles and mixed doubles matches, with 10-point tie-breaker set to decide the final outcome if needed. And after play each evening ticket holders for ‘The Greatest Show on Court’ can experience a thrilling concert featuring top artists from around the globe, including Dutch DJ superstars, Tiësto and Armin Van Buuren.
Novak Djokovic, arguably the best player that tennis has ever seen, heads the men’s field, with world number one Iga Swiatek leading the women’s entry list. With many more of the most famous names in the sport also taking part at the magnificent Coca-Cola Arena between December 19-24, both tennis and music fans alike can look forward to an unforgettable experience.
New format
Rajesh Banga, Chairman of World Tennis League, said: “The World Tennis League will be an event like no other. It brings a unique and engaging new format to the game of tennis, offering a spectacular mix of sport and entertainment together. We can’t wait to welcome fans from around the globe for this momentous event that hails a new era for tennis.”
Djokovic is no stranger to success, with 21 Grand Slam titles including nine Australian Opens, two French Opens, seven Wimbledons and three US Opens to his name, in addition to his together with five ATP Tour Finals titles. Swiatek, a WTA fan favourite, comes to Dubai following her Grand Slam victories at the French Open and US Open in 2022.
“This new event is exciting, there’s no doubt about it,” said Djokovic. I absolutely love playing in Dubai, I’ve had a lot of success there over the years and really enjoy the fans. This is something different, and it’s going to be great being a part of it.”
Iga Swiatek, the reigning French Open and US open champion, added: “I like it most when tennis connects people and when it’s true entertainment. When it’s combined with a great show and music, it’s even better, so that’s the reason why I’m excited to join this year’s World Tennis League. I’m happy that together with other top players we’ll introduce tennis as fun to new audiences. I can’t wait!”
Joining the men’s field are Alexander Zverev, a rising star who reached a ranking of two in the world this year, and the resurgent Nick Kyrgios, one of the most colourful characters on the ATP Tour. From the women’s field, former world number one, Simona Halep and current Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina add to a world-class line-up of tennis talent.
A player lottery will be held on November 1st, where the 16-player line-up will be split into four teams of four players each, and a Round Robin format for matches across the tournament. The top two teams will then face off in a final day of matches to determine the overall winner of the World Tennis League in Dubai.
True fusion
The World Tennis League will bring a true fusion of international talent to centre court at Coca-Cola Arena in an incredible sporting and music extravaganza, with the stage set for the world’s best artists also set to perform after the final match of the day.
Organisers have confirmed that additional award-winning international artists will be announced for the post-match concerts over the coming weeks.
With many of the world’s best tennis players on court and top music acts to thrill ticket holders, The Greatest Show On Court has something for everyone.

I can't see anyone beating Novak. He's too good. Pretty much the greatest ever. I think he surpasses Federer, Sampras, Borg and Laver.
Wimbledon is the greatest tournement and the greatest player usually dominates and wins. That's why Borg, Sampras, Federer and now Djokovic dominated their era's and usually won. It's quite rare you get an upset. It can happen but it's rare.
Maybe if the next great thing who will eventually take over from Djokovic can produce, then that could end the Novak era. But I don't know who that is yet. Novak is still king as it stands.
Scotland's Andy Murray blows it again

great British player :fan:
he is Scottish tomorrow
:skull:
Scotland's Andy Murray blows it again :laugh:To be fair to him, he did well in his career. He won Grand Slam titles in the toughest era ever. When Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were on the scene. So he had some great achievements to compete and sometimes conquer those guys. I think he's past his peak now though.
