ITV is reportedly bringing back its reality show flop Celebrity Love Island with a brand new name - The Resort.

The show, which lasted just two series, was ITV's summer reality rival to smash hit Big Brother but failed to pull in the viewers.

The premise saw a group of celebrities and ordinary members of the public jetting off to luxurious islands and hoping that romance would strike. Of course, in most cases, it didn't.

According to the Daily Star, ITV2 is planning to give the show another chance under a brand new title, with filming due to begin in Europe this summer.

Unlike Love Island, the contestants are expected to be holed up in a luxury resort and the cameras will capture their efforts at finding love.

Celebrity Love Island starred the likes of Calum Best, who is currently appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, Paul Danan, Rebecca Loos and eventual winners Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrove.

The second series brought back both Calum, who won, and Paul, to join a host of other celebrities including Bianca Gascoigne, Brendan Cole and Sophie Anderton.

ITV has declined to comment.

I used to love that show.
It reminds me of summer 2006, and BB7. I think because it clashed with BB, IRC.
I remember on Friday evictions in BB7, after Big Mouth, I would watch this on ITV, afterwards.

I didn't watch the first one. But I saw the second one, where Calum Best won.

I just noticed that both Alicia and Calum, from CBB15, were in the same series of CLI.

It looks like it's back to the name Love Island, and are the producers the same as BB? Mark, Biannca and Helen from BB15 have all retweeted the auditions post - are they told to by management or could they all be going on the show?

I'd honestly laugh my arse off if Love Island ends up more "Big Brother-esque" than Big Brother itself.

I watched bits of this at the time but as a rule I don't generally like celebrity-led programmes so I might prefer it this time

Did they have vote offs amongst themselves? I might watch it if that's the case

Did Kate Lawler present that or did I imagine it?

She was a contestant. Fearne Cotton presented for a while and then Kelly Brook.

Or the other way around.

I'm sure at the time it was public vote, but who knows how this "civilian" version might work.

Excited!
I'm not a fan of trashy, cheap television. But Love Island is an exception. It was amazing car-crash TV, back in the day.

This show reminds me of 2006. It used to clash with BB7, if I recall correctly?

Interesting to see how a civilian version would work as opposed to the Z-List version.
