BBUK wouldn't be able to afford a full size tank, the fish and the maintenance required for an aquarium.

Would have been cool if they had a screen there though with an aquarium video on a loop.

I remember, they had a real fish but apparently they kept replacing them because they kept getting ill, it was the wrong environment for them. That's probably why they had it CGI the following year.

And it was the ninth series (but the first one on the new channel so I'll let you off :wink:). :laugh:

For them to have an aquarium of that size it would probably cost about £75000.

My mum bought a 6 foot marine one (4 foot width) and that cost £20,000 for everything not including maintaince. So I doubt they would be able to afford it, plus the hassle of demolishing it would be a nightmare.

The original fish was real. It was rumoured that production had to keep replacing the fish as they were dying. Then the series after that they had the fake fish "down the plughole".
