Can I make a thread for the BBC's coverage as well? I was going to earlier with loads of pictures/videos of the set which is looking rather great (cause I'm a geek like that) but I assumed it would be merged

On topic - I will be switching to C4 every so often, but plan to stick with David and co most of the night. Avoiding ITV and Sky like the plague

But then this is a TV forum, so curbing discussion of a single channels presentation and coverage of an event seems well...a bit illogical. tvforum.co.uk has different threads

I don't think we need threads for ITV and Sky cause well...they're a bit irrelevant, but the main two there's enough to warrant discussion of Paxman's presenting, Mitchell and Osman, The Last Leg and then Jeremy's graphics, Emily's touch screen, Andrew Neil's interviews etc. Gets a bit messy in one thread

Sky's irrelevant is it ? only the best broadcaster in the country by an absolute million miles.

the amount of quality on Sky is staggering, the BBC is mainly rubbish cooking shows and stuff nobody watches.

ITV is Simon Cowell and not much else.

Desperately hoping there's a margin of error 10 or so seats either way for Labour/Tories so there's an anti-Tory majority and Ed can have a go at putting a Queen's Speech forward

1. Are the exit polls usually accurate?

1. variable, but they were very accurate at the last election in 2010

2. Yes, they need enough seats so that they will win most of the votes in parliament as they pass legislation

3. Yes, they would try and get agreement for other parties to vote with them

1. Last two election they were very accurate. This one will likely be less because of the unpredictability but even if vaguely accurate it will be remarkable

2. 326 seats is needed for a majority in theory, in reality 323 will do because Sinn Fein don't take their seats in the Commons so don't vote.

3. Yep pretty much, even if the exit polls are right the Tories will need the support of other parties for a majority be that in a formal coalition or just getting their backing issue-by-issue

Yep that was the talk earlier this week that even if Labour had less seats they might be able to govern because they could rely on more support from the House as a whole, mainly because they would have SNP backing on most issues

If Miliband has fought a more Blairite campaign he would have done better. Look at Labour's pledge card from 1997:

https://picturingpolitics.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/labour-pledge-card.jpg

Clear practical promises laid out and how they will all be implemented

And then compare that this year with the Edstone:

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03289/miliband-election-_3289990b.jpg

The vaguest pledges you could ever make put forth on a ridiculous gimmick.
