don't lie. everyone knows about the dodgy dossier new labour invented as an excuse to bomb Iraq and invade the middle east....everyone...its the biggets lie in british history and lead to the deaths of over 1 million innocent Iraqis
educate yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Dossier
you were angry about a small tory lie....well how about this mother fo all lies from your new labour party of warmongers?
"Iraq – Its Infrastructure of Concealment, Deception and Intimidation[1] (more commonly known as the Dodgy Dossier, the Iraq Dossier or the February Dossier) [2]) was a 2003 briefing document for the British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Labour Party government. It was issued to journalists on 3 February 2003 by Alastair Campbell, Blair's Director of Communications and Strategy, and concerned Iraq and weapons of mass destruction. Together with the earlier September dossier, these documents were ultimately used by the government to justify its involvement in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

No one would argue that the Iraq dossier wasn't a massive lie... However... if you believe that the UK wasn't going to war in Iraq no matter what then I think you underestimate the political forces that we surrounded that conflict. Labour, Tory, doesn't matter which party was in power... Iraq was happening and they would have found ways to justify it.

It would indeed TS,it is incredible that anyone could even not think that way.
All strong and true points.
(Oops.before I end that bit,I would have been against the Iraq invasion by any govt. anyway, just in case I get,I am just a new Labourite supporting Tony Blair).
What Iraq has to do with a thread about HS2,is beyond me however.

All parties agreed with that war and as said it was going to happen whoever was in power.
Maybe now we can get back on topic.

That isn't with respect however, being an MP in Parliament or of another party either.
He was an Independent, who as the name suggests are 'independent' of parties.

Definitely,I agree.
When first an idea, the economics of the UK were very different.
As you point out now, things are much tighter now and things should be re-assessed as to cost at such times.
Vicky.
25-05-2015, 11:09 AM
Yes I would 'sack' them (does it count as being sacked if you haven't started yet?) while there is apparently not enough money to keep paying carers allowance but there is billions to waste on this...its a ****ing disgrace. 12bn of cuts, including changing the carers allowance rules to chuck a few people off..TAXING dla and stuff. Its disgusting.
Going off on a tangent a bit here but yeah. I don't get why we waste so much when we are apparently too skint to do anything...
Kizzy

I bet nobody will be able to afford to use it, I thought the chunnel would be an ace idea and unless you live down south it's cheaper to fly.

yet again I find myself envying the jocks....they'll save billions from escaping this national multi billion scam...they've also merged the social services care with the nhs trust care saving millions and vastly improving the care for the sick...bravo Scotland...England is trialling it already up north...its the ONLY way forward...so care will be sorted for people at home, money to pay carers and help towards public sector jobs and wages...they'll have all this now, we wont...but.how will they ever cope having to take an extra 30 minutes to get to London by train? in the national list of priorities that doesn't even get in the top 1 million
Have to say, in this instance no business case has to be the lamest excuse ever given the research that would have been put into it in the first place. Would be nice if they actually spelt out the real reason, they can't afford it.

For me to get from Glasgow to Liverpool to see my OH, I currently have to go via National Express coach to Manchester, then the train through to Liverpool which takes around 6 hours. I'd quite like an inexpensive direct rail link to Liverpool but such a thing doesn't exist.

I do think theyre building extra lines,, just faster electric trains with a few extra carriages....a pathetic return for £60,000,000,000
