I already answered both questions yesterday. :joker:
GoT is darker but I prefer TWD (but most people would proably prefer GoT).
It's subjective tbh.

Well I don't watch either and I dont know

Watch GoT. Walking dead is a decent show. GoT is one of the best ever. Or just watch WD and read the GoT books?

GoT personally doesn't interest me, I'm more into zombie stuff than dragons and dodgy sexual relationships

The books are miles better imo although they did a decent job adapting them to the TV series

Far more details in the books. The first few seasons of the show are pretty much the exact same as the books but now the show is kind of branching out from it. Honestly i'd read the books first and then watch the show, i wish i did that tbh.

TWD is mostly trash. It has it's bright spots but it became a victim of it's own success in Season 3.
GOT has been consistently good throughout, the latest season is a bit a slow starter but it's still miles better than most things on TV atm.

This thread is like Sophie's Choice - I love both. GoT is better acted and generally better made. On the other hand I have a serious boner for anything post-apoc. Also, I don't think I've ever been bored by a TWD episode whereas GoT, though few, does have a couple of very slow ones. Dunno. Can't choose :(

If I had to choose I would pick TWD

Yeah, that's how I feel really. Of course, GOTs has better characters, a better story line etc etc but I just really enjoy TWD as well

I guess it's not much of a choice, they're completely different shows in almost every way other than both being quite violent and I suppose both at the core being about human nature... The with most politics stripped away, GoT with the politics overwhelming everything. No need to choose really we should just be happy that such great shows (and a multitude of others) all coexist peacefully these days. It's not that long ago that there were really NO TV shows at all approaching the level of quality, with acting and production, that's common these days.

Yeah absolutely, I was always a real movie lover but in the last few years the quality of TV has just been so good, it's always TV series I fill my time with these days

What I'm really excited about is the high quality of shows that are starting to come from things like Netflix. House of Cards, OITNB and the new Daredevil series - whether you're a Marvel fan or not, IMO, the tone is perfect and the action scenes are easily on par with any Hollywood action thriller, and that sort of action has traditionally been a weak point on TV.
Opens up huge possibilities going forwards, I can easily see most scripted television going fully online within the next few decades. There's much more freedom and - whilst popularity is obviously still a factor - much less reliance on ratings and sponsors, and no chance of stupid things happening like good shows falling victim to bad time slots on scheduled telly.

I'm watching Daredevil actually, not finished the first season yet, I watched the Flash to have something to watch with my son who's 11 and when that ended I thought oh Daredevil we can watch that together so we watched a couple of episodes but I think it's a bit old for him, it's not in anyway similar to the Flash but now he's annoyed with me cos I told him that I wasn't sure whether or not he can carry on watching it. It's really good though
I watched one episode of House of Cards but I couldn't get into it at all, I know I should probably give it more time than that, I think it's the whole Politics angle that does nothing for me, I do love Kevin Spacey though.
Oh and speaking of Kevin Spacey as well, isn't it fantastic that because TV is so good now, it's drawing in all these great movie stars to be in the shows? Have you watched the first season of True Detective? What a brilliant show as well. I'm also enjoying Better call Saul and Ray Donovan
Love OITNB, can't wait till Season 3 starts this weekend

Daredevil only continues to get more brutal to be honest :joker:, it's definitely much darker than anything else Marvel (or DC) is doing at the moment. I enjoy the flash and arrow too but they're much more comic-book.
As for age appropriateness... Well, I would have watched it at 11... but I'm perhaps not the most ringing endorsement of ignoring age ratings D:.

Depends how much you like "comic book stuff" I think, from season 2 onwards is pretty heavy with DC characters and lore. It started out trying to move away from the "Smallville" era by saying no superpowers etc. But now it's in the same universe as Flash... So there's a pretty constant superpower / supernatural element.
Funny really, they totally pulled away from smallville with arrow, looking for realism, but at this point both Arrow and Flash could be Smallville spin-offs and it would be totally unsurprising and not out of place at all for Tom Welling to turn up to have a race with the Flash :joker:. The change of ideals has a lot to do with the success of Avengers and the MCU, I'd say.
... However, this is totally derailing this TWD/GoT thread!
Locke.

TWD is mindless TV, you can just switch it on and not think. It spells everything out for you, repeats everything over and over, etc. It's good, but not great.
GOT is better in every single aspect.

I watched Daredevil.. and I kept trying to decide if it was ok or not ok to watch with my son... but by mid season when Kingpin's back story came through I decided it was way to dark to introduce to him yet. But I really enjoyed it myself.
House of Cards is brilliant for the first two seasons, you should give it another go... and I started True Detective now.... and I am loving it, but I have it on Hiatus for OITNB (which might only take a couple days cause once I start it I can't stop :hehe:

Arrow starts off a bit slow but picks up halfway through Season 1. Season 2 is flawless from start to finish while Season 3 is a bit hit and miss.
I'd recommend it.

You weren't swayed by Kingpin and the Russian guy's... "car door" scene? :joker: Though I suppose there's more to Kingpin's back story than just the violence that makes it dark.

I'd say that's pretty accurate, the whole Deathstroke story arc that really spans seasons 1 and 2 in many ways is excellent, whereas Ra's as the replacement main antagonist sort of mace it feel, to me, like they really are now trying too hard to "Batmanize" Oliver Queen. They're obviously very similar characters in the comics in many ways but not entirely... throw Olly into a black suit with ears in Season 3 and it's a Batman show, which is still a good watch but lost some of its identity. The flashback scenes were also lacking in comparison to S1 & 2. Also not a huge fan of the A.T.O.M stuff... hmm.
Oh and also they managed to completely mess up the Flash/Arrow crossover stuff in the latter half of the season? It didn't really make sense at all!
e.g. Felicity and Palmer are going through a pretty rough patch in Arrow... then a week later they visit Barry and seem pretty loved up... then the following week on Arrow it's like that never happened.
Also, Oliver faking being brainwashed by the League, but manages to sneak away without any of these highly trained assassins noticing, in his full League gear, to help Barry take on Reverse Flash. Wut?

That's true but sometimes an hour of more mindless TV is just what's needed... so I guess it depends if the question is "which is the better show", or "which do you prefer". GoT is objectively a much better show by anyone's standards, yet I tend to find myself really looking forward to TWD when it's due back.
I mean... despite myself I still absolutely love "Neighbours" and pretty much everything about it is absolute trash :joker:. There are loads of shows that I've loved that haven't technically been "good". In any way. Heh.
