He tagged two of his black friends in this, so I'm gonna assume it's his attempt at some inside joke. I doubt he's that horrible to tag two friends in an intenitonally horrible post.

The fact I basically just used Aaryn and Caleb's "look at my black friends (pics provided)" alibi for a HG preseason.

ik ik, and BBUS gays are almost always loathsome, but if Jason backs up his talk by uniting the girls together in an all-female-plus-gay alliance <3 <3 <3 all of the other guys were bland af

Not to defend Grodner... but you can't throw a stone in the Southern US without hitting a racist... so if she is casting for a cross country demographic of viewers... chances are there will be one in the house every time, even a closeted one who has no idea what they are saying is racist until it is played back to them. It is such an ingrained mentality down there that they don't even realize

I agree.

And it's not like these people went to their interviews and were like "you should pick me because I'm going to bring lots of racism to the house."

They make the seasons absolute ****. Ever since bb12 the seasons have been ruined by misogynistic men forming boring alliances that sail to the end and squelch the interesting drama. BB13 is a partial exception because Daniele and Kalia and Rachel were too fierce, but then again Rachel's win was more because they had already ousted Jeff and Brendon (twice ) so that wasn't a possibility

Grodner/Kass/etc find a way to do it. I could go down the street and find a likable entertaining straight while male who wouldn't tank a season in five minutes, but production is drawn to the same personality type over and over again. If they wanna stan abhorrent ****boys like Frank and Caleb and Jeff, that's their problem to work out, but they don't need to shove them down our throats every season.

It's funny you mention that because this post pretty much talks about how casting is deliberately trying to find carbon copies of old HGs.

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s235ug

It becomes more and more apparent when they cast Steve this year in a clear attempt to have another Ian-type

Casting is just so predictably gross, every year is filled with frat douches, vapid trash from the LA area, and obnoxious tryhards, and there are so few HGs that I would actually want to know in real life. Like, you could go to literally any bar in the country and find a Cody, go to any state in the south and find a Caleb, etc. You get the point.

I don't think so... even those 3 you mention are different kinds of people (Jeff and Frank are semi-similar, I kinda see that). Caleb is hardly like the other 2.

BB17 in particular has a whole lot of different guy personalities. Most seem kinda boring to me tbh but they're different. Same with BB16 bunch of different guys, except a lot of those guys were big personalities. The girls didn't do much of anything to help the show (and I liked quite a bit of them personally) yet the guys are blamed for a bad, boring season... :joker: And they are somehow classified in the same group of "same basic straight white males" when they were pretty different to each other. Cody, Caleb, Derrick, Zach are not alike to each other, aside from all being white males. Maybe a few characteristics here and there.

Anyway I don't wanna turn this into a BB sexes debate. Honestly, this particular season I don't have high hopes for the males but not much has been seen yet from anyone. Just truthfully it is generally hard for any of them to do any right from what I've seen in most places online. Cody from BB16 is a good example... he was a genuinely really good guy, defended people from bullying even when it was minor, had a good, positive attitude a lot of the time, sense of humor, etc. Pretty good at the game without being annoying/cocky and honestly an entertaining character regardless of what many say. It's different with the casual audience, just not online.

I mean I get thinking that Steve's an 'Ian-type' but until I see him walking through the house in his underwear farting while everyone's watching on the HoH monitor and laughing or until he tries to make the frog squad or whateva, I'm not mad at him.

We've had a few nerdy types and a fair few alpha male types and definitely a lot of bitchy girl types, but they haven't all been carbon copies of each other. And even if they all had been carbon copies of each other, we shouldn't judge these guys off of what we've been given before. A lot of the BB17 negativity so far has been based on a set of pictures/bios and 3 minute interviews, but yeah stay mad about it when we don't even know if this ends up being a great cast or not.

...It's pre-season. All we have to go on is this information, and pretty much all of the information has sounded bad to me. And I don't think people are getting mad (at least I'm not) over it, we're just disappointed in what we're seeing so far for BB17 and what we've seen for the last few years. It could very well be a great cast, but it would be a lot better if they could give us an actual cross-section of America with unique characters of different races, ages, religions, whatever.

eh, it's just a show that's good when it's good but is ****ing atrocious when it's bad, and unfortunately it's been more bad than good lately. There used to be a part of me that would still hope for a BB11 type of series, but at this rate I'll even take a BB13 or early days BB15.

It's different with the casual audience, just not online.

The guys were "big personalities" last year but their personalities were pretty awful, and they're blamed for a bad and boring season because the five worst guys predictably joined together and took out everyone who was likable and interesting. And most people know how I feel about Cody (his fanbase here is inexplicable, especially since many of these people write Amber off as just a pretty face), but I'll repeat again that he's whiny, moody, vindictive, and the most annoying snot sucker who played Derrick's game for him. He constantly made moves that benefited Derrick more than himself, and it was often at the expense of HGs who were actually entertaining to watch. He had the perfect opportunity to get Caleb out, but he settled for Brittany. He had the perfect opportunity to get Frankie out, but he settled for Donny. He was all talk (how many times did we hear how he was going to call someone out or put someone on blast?) and his gameplay actively ruined my enjoyment of the season.

I mean I get thinking that Steve's an 'Ian-type' but until I see him walking through the house in his underwear farting while everyone's watching on the HoH monitor and laughing or until he tries to make the frog squad or whateva, I'm not mad at him.

Oh I'm definitely all for more diversity, but these aren't exactly middle of America types.

In this cast we have
-a trans woman
-a single mother who's leaning away from the church/her family
-a self proclaimed "asian redneck"
-an ex-wrestler whose hippie parents let him quit 8th grade only to later get a masters in history
-a gay youth from the northeast (sounds bland tbf, but his interview was good)
-a mactor recruit (for you Raph)
-a multimillionaire lesbian pokah playahhttp://i.ytimg.com/vi/7fAevP8aZVs/default.jpg

Diversity isn't always black and white, but I'll concede that racial diversity is for sure needed on BBUS

eh, Steve also had an abhorrent profile so I'm fully content with disliking him so far.

Fair, but as soon as I read his oath to not fight scream or yell or whateva, I pictured him not being able to stick to it for some reason so idk

I rather watch that ****ing 3 hour friendship video that Macie posted before(it could be more or less) than Aaryn tbh

they're not even comparable lmfao the Friendship are hilariously delusional and psychotic <3

Oh I love twitter. But in all seriousness I think if Aaryn did come back she would probably be boring as f. I think there is no way she would want to have to go through that media backlash again for a second time. But the bb fans would have a meltdown about it so that alone makes it worth bringing her back.

what you are failing to recognize is... the BB franchise won't touch here with a 10 foot poll now... for the very reasons you as a fan are posturing ... because only people who like vile bullying for entertainment would be happy about it... end of.

Here's to hoping that they're both in the house:lovedup:

That maybe be true but the ratings went through the roof after that incident. Television networks really only care about ratings so it's quite possible that she comes back at some point.

If she does... I will bank that I wouldn't be the only person turning it off :smug:

If it's returning houseguests, one of my top dream scenarios would be Enzo & Keesha returning. :flutter: They would fit the battle of the sexes theme too IMO if that is true. Strong male & female character.

Enzo was not even a standout character amongst the dullards of BB12, no way he deserves to come back. I'd prefer Ragan over him, as much as that pains me to say.

Enzo wasn't a strong male tho, he couldn't win one comp.

Enzo was an afterthought in what was the worst series ever at the time (and is still considered the worst ever by many)

Enzo was a legend on an overall solid season. :idc:

I agree.

And it's not like these people went to their interviews and were like "you should pick me because I'm going to bring lots of racism to the house."
Truth, but surely after BB15 fiasco she would have done some research on the people

AarynGriesFan shouldn't you change your username to AarynWilliamsFan since she's married and that's her name now?
