My thots on season 2:

I found it a bit of a slog tbh? I mean, the majority of the teams seemed pleasant enough (this is now a Mary & Peach stan account), but I found my interest slowly depleting throughout and I was ready for the season to end once Oswald & Danny were eliminated. I suppose it didn't help that I actively abhorred Gary & Dave (an even nerdier Ryan Ulrich and All Stars 3-era Trixie Mattel? In one team? Where do I sign up?) and found Wil's treatment of Tara progressively uncomfortable. The culmination of latter at least made the - admittedly quite exciting - final leg a satisfying one, by which I mean the look on Wil's face when Chris & Alex passed them to the finishing line. If only the winning team had been one that I have any feelings about either way whatsoever!

After Mary & Peach and Oswald & Danny, I suppose my favourites were... um... the Gutsy Grannies, and... Blake & Paige? Maybe? If not just because they reminded me, to varying degrees, of Cole Medders and Angie Layton respectively? If you squint? And also possibly Cyndi & Russell, just because as a secular Brit I have a soft spot for reality TV contestants who find every opportunity they can to thank the Lord for... I don't know, giving the other teams the runs or something.

Onwards to 5! (sorry 1. I might visit you just before All-Stars if it would at all benefit me to do so)

The most interesting thing about 2 really was the ending... to this day it's still the closest finale ever

Then again, I knew from watching 3 first that an all-male team would win this season, so once Oswald & Danny were eliminated the only suspense was as to who would take second place (and if Tara & Wil would quit over their lost clue )

Also 1 is definitely worth a watch if you're debating whether or not to watch it at some point! Still holds up really well to this day.

Season 5:

tbh I was expecting a little more from this season! Obviously I enjoyed it, but overall I'd have it placed joint with season 4 (which is above season 2 but below season 3, for those keeping track at home) when I thought initially that I'd place it higher: while Charla & Mirna are probably my favourite team from either season, Tian & Jaree are a better version of Kami & Karli, Monica & Sheree are just as good of a mom team as Linda & Karen and I think I prefer Kelly & Jon to Colin & Christie? And at least a team that I actually liked won season 4.

Speaking of the devils, I was also expecting a little more from Colin & Christie, given the hype I've seen around them recently for... reasons, although that would imply I knew what I was expecting of them to begin with. What I certainly wasn't expecting was for them to dominate the entire race and end up in the final leg. I guess I'd pictured a pair of endearingly pretentious mid-season boots, instead of the, well, more competent team they turned out to be. That said, I still ended up rooting for them (at least in the PM - Post Mirna - portion of the race), so they must have done something right. My favourite Colin moment was him rampaging through the Filipino mudfield shouting about how his ox was broken. My favourite Christie moment was her going full Selina Waterman-Smith and demanding her driver run over any pedestrians in her way.

Also, I take back everything I said about finding myself, for some reason or another, rooting for obnoxiously God-fearing teams, because I didn't anticipate to end up with a final three with two of them in it. Between Chip praying for God not to let him fall off a bridge and Brandon praying for God to rescue him from a pit of mud, I was beginning to wonder if I'd accidentally started watching Survivor: South Pacific instead. Charla & Mirna get away with it because they're Charla & Mirna.

My current plan is to watch season 6 next before going back to watch 1, and we all know how well I stick to plans!

One of, if not my favourite team ever <3

6 is a brilliant season, you should watch 1 and 7 next (both great), skip 8 (it's almost a completely different show), decide whether you want to watch 9 & 10 (they're both decent but not spectacular) and then prepare yourself for the amazingness that is Season 11: All Stars

Well TAR6 was a ride and a half

What a stellar season of reality TV that was... so of course the only black mark against it would be the final result, lmao. I'm not entirely sure how to summarise my feelings about Freddy & Kendra - him, a guy who probably gets hired at parties to pretend to be Matthew McConaughey, her, the answer to the age-old question "what if Georgina Leigh Cantwell was really into barely-concealed racism, and also had the same voice as Sarah Huckabee Sanders?" - and in a season with a lesser cast I might actually like them, but here they only served as an obstacle to my favourite teams doing well.

Speaking of favourite teams, I'm so in love with Kris & Jon, and will forever curse that train that decided to block their path to the finish line. I didn't expect anything from them to begin with, so it was such a nice surprise to see Kris turn out so considerate (her confessionals talking about how the American view of African countries just being "unfortunate" compared to their country is a load of balls, and how they were the ones to blame for not speaking their taxi driver's language rather than the driver's fault for not speaking English, were both adorable and pretty woke given the general... attitudes of the US at that point in time cough cough Iraq War). I'm an unashamed stan of cute, funny RTV couples made up of genuinely nice people (which are... surprisingly rare lol), which is probably why I still follow Jonclyn on Instagram to this day and is definitely why Kris & Jon were my favourites this season. Also apparently Kris & Jon are still together and have kids, whereas Freddy & Kendra got divorced, and I'm not saying anything or casting judgement on either relationship but hmm yes the universe did a god job on that one.

Similarly, of the many glorious trainwreck teams this season gave us, I really grew to enjoy Adam & Rebecca, especially Rebecca, whose performance in the endgame was one of my many highlights of the season. See: when Lori & Bolo are having their domestic over a lost ticket in Sri Lanka, Kris and Rebecca are stood to the side trying, and failing, to conceal their laughter (afterwards, Kris goes over to a fuming Bolo, all "positive vibes, Bolo! Positive vibes! :)" in his face <3<3<3)

And on the subject of Lori & Bolo, what a fantastic ensemble cast of nutters they somehow managed to assemble this season. Whether it's Lori's frozen implants, Hayden's devastating "just because you're 5'5" and on steroids ", Lena & Kristy hastily doing their make-up in the car because they want Phil to bang them, Meredith & Maria just generally being the living, breathing forms of various rejected Maya Rudolph characters or, of course, The Jonathan & Victoria Experience, which I'm sure I'll document in full when I go back and re-watch this season, I felt as though I was watching a fan fic at times (in the best possible way). And if that weren't enough, to balance out the general insanity of the other teams, we had Don & Mary Jean, Gus & Hera and, of course, Kris & Jon to be sweet and lovely and all-round angelic, and the one-two punch of the Senegalese slave house and the Berlin Wall one after the other hit me right in the feels. Which reminds me - though it's a very minor and rather odd thing to bring up in a review, I liked how linear this season's race was: it was essentially a straight line from western Europe to eastern Asia, with two brief pit stops in Africa for Kendra to talk about how much of an inconvenience poverty is to her, and both starting and finishing in Chicago give the season a nice circular feel which was qt

As I said, I'd have to go and re-watch the season to pick out my favourite quotes (I'm sure there were at least ten times per episode where I made a mental note to mention one amazing quote or another in this post), so that'll probably happen once the pain of the final result goes away. Until then, I'll offer a final Jonathan & Victoria moment: when, in one of the many European countries visited over the course of this season, Victoria commands their taxi driver to go "vite vite", meaning fast. Jonathan, assuming he could do this job better than his wife, decides to (try to) copy this phrase verbatim, and instructs the driver to go, and I quote, "beep beep". The exasperated look on Victoria's face at her husband's sheer stupidity is worth a thousand words. oh and then apparently Victoria went on Fear Factor and quit after punching Jonny Fairplay in the face, which... feels right somehow?

Kris & Jon
Adam & Rebecca
Jonathan & Victoria
Gus & Hera
Don & Mary Jean
Aaron & Hayden
Lori & Bolo
Lena & Kristy
Meredith & Maria
Freddy & Kendra

I know the conventional "winner's edit" isn't really a thing on TAR, owing to the nature of the show itself, but Freddy & Kendra really are such strange winners. I can't remember a single thing they did outside of Kendra being racist and immediately throwing up any kind of food she was unable to spell. Also, I can only assume the only reason that no teams returned to do All-Stars is because they were all too successful or in love or busy playing Hollywood actors at parties to say yes to the offer.

Anyway, I'm doing a bit more post-show "research" and of course the natural conclusion to Adam & Rebecca's storyline would be Adam turning Rebecca gay

Finished TAR1, more for completion purposes than anything else. It was fine!

It's interesting to go back and view the first season of a long-running RTV show in the context of how it impacted later seasons (see: the development of the public hero/public villain arc in BBUK1 with Craig and Nick respectively, ditto Sue's snakes and rats speech swaying the game in Richard's favour in Borneo*, not to mention the way that the format of BBUS had to be completely overhauled and for the likes of Dr. Will to come in for the show to be successful), and... how with TAR, this isn't really the case? I mean, you've got little changes like the use of a tighter formula and script in explaining the format and the increased presence of Phil from season 2 onwards (did he film all of his parts this season via green screen several months later or something?), but unlike, say, Survivor, the only things that the teams of TAR1 seemed responsible for establishing themselves outside of the basic format were the general sense of competitiveness (which, I mean, hello, million dollar prize) and the formation of alliances early on in the game. If anything, I noticed more substantial changes, if not just in terms of production itself, between seasons 4 and 5.

Since the show was still finding its feet, I'd say it took until the legs in India for it to feel properly like TAR? I suppose production's biggest hurdle was to find a way to simultaneously tell the stories of up to eleven different teams in an accurate and coherent fashion, without having the luxury of a Survivor or a Big Brother to simply edit the irrelevant ones out of the narrative, while also ensuring that the audience were understanding the format, and as a result I can't say I feel much either way about a good two thirds of the cast. Of those I did form opinions on, my favourite team would have to be Frank & Margarita, with Lenny & Karyn and Nancy (RIP) & Emily filling the rest of the top three by default (that confessional of Nancy's that was all "I don't like all the bad language I'm hearing... :shame: I don't like the viciousness.... :shame: I don't like the backstabbing.... :shame: I don't like racing around the world... :shame: I don't like Phil's accent... :shame:" <3)

*if you ignore that old tale about how Richard was apparently going to win with a clean sweep until that speech, after which half the jury voted for Kelly because they felt sorry for her, lmao

Does anyone have a good link to the TAR7 finale? The site I'm using has been one episode out for most of the season (e.g. episode 8 actually links to episode 7), so the link for the finale goes to the TAR8 premiere

(I mean, I accidentally spoiled the result for myself after only watching the first episode of the season, but it'd be nice to see it in action)

nvm, found one!

I... didn't mind TAR7? It started grimly (as in, I was ready to off myself by the time the fourth consecutive leg in the Andes rolled around), but contrary to what I was expecting to think back when I was watching, say, Ray & Deana riding round on a donkey or something, I wouldn't rank it as my least favourite season (of the whole seven I've seen)! Feel free to change my mind!

Perhaps it was due to the fact that I'd already spoiled the result for myself by accident and therefore watched 90% of the episode through the corner of my eye while scrolling through my phone, but... yeah, I thought the finale was fine. I was happy with Uchenna & Joyce winning, little tension though there was left, and the other two teams sucked so their respective losses were satisfying. Speaking of which, Rob & Amber were as delightful as ever, and that's all I'll say on the matter until I have to endure them again in four season's time. Well, three seasons, because I'd be damned if I willingly sit through a season of eleven-year olds and their parents driving through the back-end of Arkansas.

Otherwise, Meredith & Gretchen were #lyfegoalz, Susan & Patrick were bearable and Lynn & Alex were, er, gay and hated Rob & Amber? No, I'm not convincing myself here either. Perhaps I'd like the season less if I'd watched it immediately after the uhmazing TAR6, and hadn't put off finishing it for weeks after falling asleep multiple times during the same episode, but since I'm relatively ambivalent (winners that I liked, qt and not entirely incompetent old couple, my favourite India leg yet by which I mean none of the women got groped on public transport, Rob & Amber not winning), I'd love to hear the arguments both strongly for and strongly against this season.

Onto 9, which I hear may suck, but I don't think any of my overall TAR opinions have matched a consensus yet so let's wait and see how much I detest... idk, Lake & Michelle first!

I'm just not crazy about the route or the tasks but maaaaan I really hate a lot of the cast for 7, and not only is the finale Bad in terms of leg design and general aesthetic but all of the teams are awful? Ron and Kelly are just unpleasant and gross and uncomfortable, Rob was suffocating with how he was ~bringing Survivor strategy to The Amazing Race~ and the only thing more overkill than his *revolutionary strategy* was every other ****ing team moralizing about how he's an awful piece of **** (oh and Amber existed too), and Uchenna and Joyce were just faaaaake and boring and acted like shells of human beings half of the time. Their post-show divorce is the least surprising thing ever and for all the moralizing the other teams did about how Uchenna and Joyce HAVE to win because they're the only Good Team who Deserves it, it's really hard to get on board when they only won because of like four different bunching points and getting to self-drive for a lot of the final leg and somehow literally getting the airplane to turn around on the tarmac for them. And, like, for "good people" they tried to get out of paying their last taxi driver and then were begging random locals for "charity money" which :skull: Like, I guess in defense of TAR7 (?!) the final outcome, regardless of how it was achieved, fits the narrative of the season, buuuut the narrative sucked and didn't really fit the people racing and it was largely dishonest so no thank you.

Your loss on skipping out on TAR8, though. The Weaver Family's Waffle House meltdown is a religious experience, as is their whole journey

I don't remember much about 9, so I think it;s acceptable to call it a middle-of-the-road season? idk. 10 has some great moments tho and 11 is honestly one of the best seasons of reality tv so I look forward to you embarking on that!

I'm sure there's a Weaver Family Compilation to be made out there, somewhere

(I'll probably get round to it once my other options are limited to, say, The Amazing Race: YouTubers or The Amazing Race: Convicted Killers or whichever joys I have to look forward to from the show's latter era, but I find something intrinsically unappealing about watching people race for their life through Boise, and something even more unappealing about the existence of human children)

Which I suppose makes my pleasant-at-best apathy towards TAR7 rather poetic! I'd probably have to rewatch the season to understand the view of Uchenna & Joyce being some fake and soulless entity, as not-particularly-exciting as they are and as... yeah as them begging at the finish line and basically being the human form of the "well... well... next question... see ya!" meme when asked what the donations were going towards was. I hope their All-Stars rematch with Romber is as exhilarating as I expect it to be and I say that with the utmost sincerity.

I have a new least favourite season. tvym, TAR9!

A list of reasons as to why BJ (a rather appropriate name for a team who sucked so hard amirite) & Tyler are terrible winners:

-had to be saved twice(!) by convenient non-elimination legs, which suggests they're not really that great at the whole racing thing
-benefitted from using the Yield, aka my least favourite part of the TAR format
-made the final three thanks to using the Fast Forward, which is like getting to Final Tribal Council on Survivor by pulling out an idol at final four
-started a feud with one of the least charismatic teams of the season in Joseph & Monica, thus handing them a load more airtime in the process
-affected over-the-top parody accents in almost every country they visited (watching them spend the entirety of their time in Italy being all "mamma mia, I ate-a the pizza!" nearly persuaded me to sell my television) yet somehow seemed to be fluent in all the languages of said countries?
-claimed to be "American Bedouin", which... yeah no you're not
-claimed to be hippies just because they hadn't washed in a month and voted Libertarian once
-were generally loud, obnoxious, irritating assholes
-did I mention one of them is called BJ

As for everyone else? Eric & Jeremy's whole "racing around the world just trying to bone everything in sight" shtick may have been ironically endearing if they'd lasted four legs rather than twelve, Lake & Michelle were a carbon copy of Tara & Wil (except with 10% less personality, which is impressive considering I don't really recall anything about Tara & Wil other than a whole bunch of red flags), Fran & Barry were the 367th team of grandparents I've seen on this show and I'm only eight seasons in, and Dave & Lori are probably furries now. TAR10ward bound I go!

(single digit season ranking: 6 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 1 > 7 > 2 > 9)

I'm nearing the end of TAR10, and I've noticed that the editing this season is rather "hmm, they've shown of all but one of the teams in confessionals, cheerily talking about what we're currently seeing them do in the past tense, often in locations we haven't seen yet. I wonder who's leaving this week!"... never change, CBS, never change!

(and if I had a dollar for each time they've used the exact same "come on, Lynette" soundbite, I'd be richer than everyone who's ever won this show combined)

Mess I hate that the started doing that, it's so obvious now in almost every season who goes home in each ep because they show like 9 out of 10 teams talking in broad daylight during their confessionals (filmed the next morning) and 1 team talking in the dark at night (filmed the night of their elimination)

TAR12:

Ronald & Christina (the much-hyped Renaissance of Ron being a season-long transition from calling his daughter fat and pushing her off a bike onto the road to… not pushing her into a taxi like Nate & Jen? a hernia playing a bigger part in the narrative of the season than TK & Rachel )
Nathan & Jennifer (their Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in Dubrovnik  Jennifer getting attacked by a chihuahua five minutes into the leg in Mumbai  Jennifer turning into a classic reality TV emotional birthday terrorist in Taipei  "the best team’s gonna finish last and that’s us" "...finish last?! ")
Kynt & Vyxsin
Shana & Jennifer ("I’m sorry I nearly just got killed by a bus I guess I need to calm down " <3<3<3 when will your faves?) (also the show tried remarkably hard to make their decision to U-Turn Lorena & Jason out to be a strategically poor one, when in actuality it... wasn’t) (although I’m not sure whether or not it’s a generally accepted theory that they just mistook TK & Rachel for Lorena & Jason at the U-Turn mat, because I feel as though that’s what happened. Still, not even the dumbest U-Turn decision of the season)
Azaria & Hendekea
Nicolas & Donald (a third-boot team making the final leg via sheer luck and a tattoo they didn’t even need to get  Nicolas being passive to everyone, including his 70-year old grandfather, the entire season, only to turn around in the penultimate leg and decry everyone in the race for being bitches and pansies, including himself )
Lorena & Jason
Kate & Pat (‘married lesbian grandma church ministers’ is a casting archetype this show would be much poorer without )
Marianna & Julia
TK & Rachel (repeatedly stating that your strategy is to be as boring as possible is one thing, but putting it into practice by always being so far behind or ahead of the other teams that you never allow for the possibility of engaging in inter-team drama is another)
Ari & Staella (lol)

I appreciated this season because for all its efforts to bring in new twists and mark a new, post-All Stars era of the show, it still felt very old school in its jankiness (any time a team finished first and Phil would be like "congratulations, you’ve won a bike with three wheels!" when they were expecting a holiday to the Maldives  That leg where they had to carry a chicken with them at all times for no particular reason  The leg where you could obviously tell which team was going home because their confessionals were filmed at the pit stop, when everyone else’s were filmed in the hotel courtyard  The leg where production decided they were sick of these punk ass teams and attempted to drown them, drive them off a teetering bridge, burn their feet and make them run into fireworks )

p.s. lol at this being the shot of the winners they chose to freeze frame at the end, how poetically bland:

I was a little dubious as to whether or not I would at first, as it was the first old school season I'd watched in a while, and there were a few little things in the premiere that made me wonder if TAR was beginning to jump the shark by this point (namely the starting line being the Playboy Mansion and Ari's general... vibe), but luckily it quickly began to feel like the classic TAR I'd come to know and the cast turned out to be really strong. It wasn't the most fast-paced season in terms of leg structure (they didn't leave Europe/western Africa until leg 8, for example), and it could absolutely have used some non-eliminations earlier on, but I thought it was still pretty solid and definitely holds up against previous classic era seasons!

Above all, I'm just really glad that the season ended in an eight-team tie win for Ron & Christina, Nate & Jen, Kynt & Vyxsin, Shana & Jennifer, Azaria & Hendekea, Nicolas & Don, Lorena & Jason and Kate & Pat, instead of ending with any other potential outcome

They were remembered mostly for the unfortunate implications of their last name.

One of my favourite things about TAR8 so far is that, as if to try and make up for the U.S. having a lack of culturally pertinent and/or interesting points for the teams to visit, a lot of the clues are like "travel to a house shaped like a shoe" and "find the world's largest office chair"

TAR8:

Weaver Family (I forget which of them said it, but I think the one line that best sums up the Weavers is "it's against our beliefs for the other teams to be rude to us"   Of their many stellar legs (special mention to Alabama and Costa Rica), the Weaver Family Go to Utah has to be one of the greatest single-leg performances of all time. Any time it would show them in their trailer complaining about how the other teams hate them, and the show would briefly turn into BBUK  Using the Yield as an opportunity to eat McDonald's  Feeling sorry for the entire population of Utah for living in such an ugly state  I'd like to imagine that their origin story is that they accidentally sent their Wife Swap application to TAR and... well, the rest is history )
Paolo Family (much as the Weavers detested every moment of their time in Utah, Marion Paolo's hatred for Phoenix, Arizona will live on through the ages  p.s. more reality TV intrafamily feuds need to be resolved by tying the feuding family members together and throwing them into the Panama Canal)
Godlewski Family (not to discredit any of the other sisters, but come on, Christine is obviously the superior Godlewski here)
Linz Family (much more lulzy and fun than they had any right to be, tbh! The "stade"/"stahd" debacle in Montreal was a particular highlight, if minor, and I appreciated their general presence as late game Weaver adversaries )
Gaghan Family (such nerds )
Black Family
Schroeder Family (Stassi Schroeder was in this family. That concludes my thoughts on the Schroeder Family)
Bransen Family (who)
Aiello Family
Rogers Family

All in all, TAR8 was much better than I was expecting (and much better than its reputation gives it credit for)! I'd struggle to rank it in relation to the other classic era seasons, because all of the reasons I found it dramatic, entertaining and enjoyable had very little to do with the show as, well, a race around the world. Which makes it an unusual but welcome outlier in the annals of TAR

Both are distinct enough from one another that you might consider watching them at the same time: US1's a leftover 90's epic (only season filmed before 9/11) whereas CAN1's a light-hearted answer to the American Family Edition.

As a back-up option, there's also TAR Australia 1, though it's not as good as either.

Spent the last week or so watching TARCan3 and it was actually not terrible? It definitely has its flaws but it's sooooooo much better than 5 and 6 it's not even funny.

https://i.imgur.com/Fj9Us4y.png

1. Brian/Cynthia (dad  so dry and deadpan but soooooo funny)
2. Nic/Sabrina (being really good at like 30% of components of the race and being REALLY bad at the other 70% wish their edit stayed strong after coming back from South America)
3. Brent/Sean (actually a lot of fun? Sean puking after any strenuous activity was a fun motif)
4. Neil/Kristin (she's definitely a ****ing psyco and I probably would've loooooved her but TrashCan kinda sanitized her edit)
5. Dujean/Leilani (okay so I looooooooved the three instances where she laid into Dujean, the one in their boot leg being absolutely the best and most righteous, but then their boot just kinda made me sad since they don't even seem like they're going to be on speaking terms anymore)
6. Simi/Ope (definitely Good People but their edit was sooooooo nauseating and it basically felt like the Nicole BBUS21 thing all over again)
7. Hamilton/Michaelia (kind of suck and were boring TV *BUT* their boot leg meltdown was ****ing hilarious  not surprising that they're not together anymore tbh!)
8. Nick/Matt (wasted potential, could've and should've been fun but then just turned into boring Gino/Jesse rivals)
9. Susan/Sharnjit (bizarre how they're part of the same archetype as Shahla/Nabeela and Zainab/Monica)
10. Dana/Amanda (FAN FAVOURITES DANA AND AMANDA had like one funny moment where Dana tried to rummage through a shopkeeper's purses for a thing of Mentos because she thought the shopkeeper was lying to her. But lmfaooooooo @ them being Canada's Favorite Team, even if it's only because Gino/Jesse won)
11. Max/Elias (were a team on The Amazing Race Canada 3)
12. Gino/Jesse (I don't even hate them but they were sooooooo boring and their insistence that Canada is their comfort zone and this country has EVERYTHING YOU WOULD EVER NEED is everything wrong with TrashCan so here we are)

And with that, TARCan is somehow the first franchise where I have an edgic chart for every season!!! To celebrate this drab and bland show, look at my winners compilation chart and overall compilation chart!

Alright so after realising my memory of TAR is very patchy I've decided to do a marathon of the show again. I decided to start with 2 but I'm probably just going to carry on and go in order (and will find time to squeeze 1 in at some point). I definitely plan on taking this rewatch a lot slower so I can take it in properly this time.

I finished TAR 2 the other night and it was great! One of the most exciting finales ever and the cast were all really enjoyable. Tara & Wil, Blake & Paige and Oswald & Danny were my season faves, although I wasn't mad at Tara & Wil losing because I feel like their ending is literally the perfect way to finish their story arc <3

I won't go into long write-ups (I'm lazy at the moment /rachel) but a special shoutout to FERN and all the other lovely locals that Oswald & Danny received help from simply by just being nice to them

As we already know, Season 3 was amazing! It had a great cast dynamic, great tasks, entertaining moments and also one of the best endings ever!!

Zach honestly deserves all the praise he gets for managing Flo and her meltdowns so much throughout the race! I screamed @ Flo wanting to quit on the penultimate ep :joker: End-game Flo was insane to watch but also fascinating in a good way and she's truly one of a kind <3

Speaking of great teams, Ian & Teri are absolute icons and I love that they defied everyone's expectations by coming so close to winning the whole thing! And the best part is, they didn't even need NEL's to keep them in either, they did it all through their own merit! It was a scream watching them bicker like an couple (because they are one lmao) and gradually get more sick of each other

I really liked the majority of these teams and it once again shows just how good casting was in the early days! Some hilarious moments too like Tramel & Talicia asking for directions to "Chaka Khan", Derek & Drew's existence causing everyone to go on a #TwinHunt, Heather & Eve thinking that 'walk to the pit stop' meant you had to walk once you got out of the taxi, Andre & Damon getting detained by local officials, everything about Ian & Teri, Flo on the bikes, Flo in Vietnam and Flo in general :joker:

Season 3 Rankings:
1) Ian & Teri
2) Zach & Flo
3) Derek & Drew
4) Heather & Eve
5) Ken & Gerard
6) Andre & Damon
7) Tramel & Talicia
8) Michael & Kathy
9) John Vito & Jill
10) Dennis & Andrew
11) Aaron & Ariane
12) Gina & Sylvia

As you can see, another season where I found it difficult to dislike anyone  Also, best final 2 ever!! Can't decide whether I enjoyed this season or TAR2 more, they're both amazing!

I'm going to rewatch TAR1 next and then after that I'll be carrying on in order from 4 onwards.

I'm too lazy to do a proper write-up so all I'll say is LENNYYYYYYYYYYY  TAR1 was great and the cinematic finale was a great way to end the season. You can tell they were still finding their feet with its production but it definitely works as an effective blueprint and foundation for the rest of the series!

Season 1 Rankings:
1) Frank & Margarita
2) Lenny & Karyn
3) Nancy & Emily
4) Joe & Bill
5) Paul & Amie
6) Rob & Brennan
7) Dave & Margaretta
8) Kim & Leslie
9) Pat & Brenda

Ended another year by watching a TAR season! First venture into TAR Australia and this season was fine! I thought it had a pretty strong start and a decent, but the middle legs were a bit of a slog. I also liked some of the leg designs, but some of them were just really bad and not even in a fun way. Boring and predictable winners but they didn't really take away from anything so all in all I think it was a fine season! Probably would give it a light green or so. Can't wait until TARAU2 though

1. Sam/Renae - I'm enraged that Sam got no confessionals in Ausvivor because she and Renae were super rootable and engaging and a lot of fun? I don't know, I was just a sucker for two models proving that they can hang with the guys and their ~Last Girls Standing~ era in the endgame. They didn't really provide a lot of standalone moments but I just think they're super charismatic and FUN and I dug their energy. They know how to be good and engaging TV personalities and they really were the heart and soul of the second half of the season.
2. Richard/Joey - these psychos <33333 they were just soooooo grating to everyone around them with their FOCUS, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE mantras and ~105~ and their hilariously transparent attempts at strategy and playing the game. Joey desperately begging everyone for help at the coin Roadblock, striking a deal with Mel to let her get to the Pit Stop ahead of her, and then completing renegging the deal minutes later was a work of art, as was Richard and Joey shaving their heads for a Fast Forward only to get eliminated the very next leg because basically the entire cast wanted to U-Turn them :joker: they definitely provided me with the most laughs this season.
3. Dave/Kelly - alol I don't really know why I like them so much but they were one of my initial favorite teams! They had a cute alliance with Sam/Renae and they had some funny confessionals and moments where I enjoyed them, like when Kelly completed rejected Joey's request to help her in the coin Roadblock Leg 2. I also love how they raced with absolutely no sense of urgency towards the end? They would just take like more than an hour to stop and get directions and randomly stopped to get coffee in their boot leg and Grant had to come and eliminate them I think in a McDonald's parking lot? :joker:
4. Matt/Tom - the cowboy hats made me suuuuuper wary but these two are actually good and fun! They had no clue what they were diong because they hadn't even been to places like Melbourne let alone the world, but they adapted well and became super strong racers and were just fun? Their OTTN leg in Europe (I think Prague) was hilarious, where they got pulled over by cops twice, had to push their car basically the entire leg, and pissed off a bunch of teams by trying to give them good advice but inadvertently lying to them? Them telling Sam and Renae to not take a picture of the guy with a flag was hilarious, because they had no clue that they had simply taken a picture of the wrong flag so Sam and Reane thought they were liars and were ready to kill them :joker: They kinda flattened out towards the end so I didn't mind that they didn't make it to the final leg though!
5. Mo/Mos - I didn't think I was going to like them but they're actually good? Complete race fodder who miraculously survived five legs but they were very self-aware and knew that they had no chance in hell of doing well. They were just a lot of fun and provided a lot of funny moments and had an actually funny self-deprecating sense of humor.
6. Anne-Marie/Tracy - they were cute! But obvious fodder alol like honestly making it three legs was a miracle, and even so they were so ****ing stupid for taking a penalty after Mo and Mos already did. But they were a bit of fun and they were like some budget Gutsy Grannies.
7. Chris/Anastasia - I feel like this is going to be seen as criminally low BUT honestly they're lucky to be in green for a while. I did *NOT* like them at first. I think Chris is a huge asshole and he said more than a few too many sexist comments for my liking. He treated Anastasia terribly at times and it reminded me of Jonathan and Victoria. That being said, I liked them a lot more when they started to learn how to work together and realized that they actually are capable of getting through legs without fighting or screaming at each other. And they even won a leg in the process! Their elimination was bull**** with the stupid wood-cutting Intersection and I at least appreciated Chris being really good with Anastasia. They also got into green because Anastasia was actually great and I loooooved whenever Chris would disrespect her and she would just stop whatever she was doing and REFUSE to help him until he apologized. Petty queen
8. Alana/Mel - so i feel like this is ~low~ compared to what other people may think BUT I actually had them as #10 for a while so this is generous. I don't really like Mel at all. I know I shouldn't factor this in, but the Royal DJ prank is just really ****ty and it's tough to separate her from that. But even regardless of that I don't think I would like her anyway? Her whole shtick was how she ran away from home and NEVER had a good relationship with her sister Alana, and she loves her because she's her sister but she doesn't like her because she just does NOT get along with nerds. It was just way too try-hard and something I would expect from, like, Corinne Kaplan. She was mean to Alana and not in a fun way BUT I did come to enjoy their last two legs where Alana finally started to prove herself to Mel and gain her respect. It was a nice ending for a team that I don't care for whatsoever.
9. Jeff/Luke - eh they were fine. I can see why they were put on the show because their strained father/son relationship is interesting but they kinda got over it super quickly and it didn't matter at all. They were all about racing with honor and integrity and I'm shocked MATESHIP didn't come up at all. They did have some funny moments though, like Jeff being completely awful at the Hebrew Roadblock and forcing Nathan to begrudgingly help him.
10. Tyler/Nathan - perfectly fine humans but the concept of them is more annoying than anything. Two straight dudes who are randomly competent at just about all aspects of the race and are super lucky along the way too. Yawn. Nothing actually offensive though so I'm fine with them.
11. Ryot/Liberty - I had no clue that Rebel Wilson's siblings were the first season's stunt casting but alol at them being first boots. They were vaguely annoying at times, vaguely likable at other times, and overall I did not care one bit about them!

On a more positive note, great season! So much fun from start to finish, a super likable cast where almost everyone brought something, and a lot of fun dynamics between the teams. Just an all-around superb season that lived up to hype and I'm so sad it's over.

Lucy and Emilia (everyone knows the iconic Lumilia moments such as the arrest in Dubai and getting stuck on the train tracks in Cuba and getting saved by the Salvage Pass but they're so much more than that! Endearing underdogs with an emotional backstory, lots of self-deprecating fun, and honestly just their relationship and love for each other was so sweet and makes me wish I had siblings. Their cockroach journey through the first half of the Race is legitimately fan fiction levels of absurd but I love it)
2. Michelle and Jo (so a lot of the appeal just comes from them being cute blonde cheerleading twins but they were also really good at navigating the transportation aspect of the Race and had a fun dynamic of Michelle being the alpha and Jo trying to prove herself. This led to some fun moments like Michelle almost getting killed in the Turkish wrestling Intersection and Jo at the whirling dervish Roadblock and the ocean navigating Roadblock. However, what really elevates them from good to great is their performance in the final two legs: Jo's theatrics during the Chinese foot massage, them breaking the alliance with Shane and Andrew, and their entire finale performance where they melt the **** down over Paul's existence, to the point where Jo spends an entire task telling Paul how much she hates his guts and Michelle crying tears once they realized that Paul and Steve beat them for second place alksjdf;lasjf)
3. James and Sarah (alol I don't even know what to say about these two so I'm just going to list a bunch of their absurd moments: Sarah starting the Race in HEELS (#hunners), their entire fight over the bottle of coke that lasted the duration of an entire plane ride, their fight when James like... told the other teams that they just had to wait for a boat to arrive with their clue because he "gave away valuable information" or whatever, when they had to wash each other in the Turkish bath and Sarah full on mounted James and started grinding him in front of Ross and Tarryn, everything that happened in Paris with Joseph and Grace throwing their bags out of their taxi and Sarah yelling at James because she had to call for a new taxi in the pub while a bunch of drunks leered at her while she was in a cheese outfit, and their entire boot leg where they overslept/were late because Sarah had to do her makeup and then they forgot to pay for their hotel room upon checkout so they had to take like two extra cab rides and spent the whole leg with absolutely no money and had to beg strangers for donations and beg their drivers for discounts <3333 I'm so sad they're apparently not together anymore because even in spite of all their fighting they seemed like #truelove but alas)
4. Shane and Andrew (maybe ACAB isn't true in Australia? These two are just really nice family men and they didn't really have a lot of moments but were fun narrators? Nobody really expected them to do well because they always had such awful transportation luck but then they just really turned it on in the endgame and I support their win! Shane is also basically the human embodiment of Nigel Thornberry and it's hilarious to me)
5. Paul and Steve (so it took me a while to get there with them because Paul especially hams up the CPN villain a little too much for my liking, but he can at least back it up? He *IS* very smart and he *IS* good at a lot of aspects of the Race and they really did got on a streak of like five leg wins in a row. They were also easily the most important team of the season because EVERYTHING came down to how other people responded to them. Kym and Donna had a rivalry with them, Joseph and Grace had a feud with them, Michelle and Jo ****ing HATED their guts... like this season probably wouldn't be nearly as good without them)
6. Kym and Donna (alol I feel like me having them ranked this high is going to be outrageous but this is my truth! They were THE original Paul/Steve rivals and dubbed them The Boofheads (TM) and it was fun for a few episodes, especially with the pot transfer in India. But what really sold me on Kym and Donna was their boot leg? They blew all their money early on and couldn't afford to buy a map of Dubai, and then they got a flat tire, and then they got lost and just gave up? Like Lucy and Emilia legitimately got arrested and by all logic SHOULD have been eliminated, but then Kym and Donna literally just slept in their car until they got field eliminated kasdj;akslfjsda)
7. Joseph and Grace (okay so this is definitely Low compared to most Clubsters so here's what I have to say. Joseph and Grace DID have a lot of fun moments: the rivalry with Paul and Steve, throwing James and Sarah's bags out of their taxi, and their entire boot leg in China just to name a few. I definitely like them to some degree and appreciate what they brought to the Race. HOWEVER, Grace kind of bothers me oops! She's definitely content with being The Bitch Of The Season but she doesn't really own it all the way? Like, she openly antagonized Paul in Dubai and then tried to be all "friends? :)" but then completely lost it when he accidentally (!) knocked her over in Istanbul. And then after throwing James and Sarah's bags out of the taxi and stealing it, the next leg they were like "oh we're sorry, we'll make it up to you :)" which Grace literally admitted in the next scene was bull**** lol. Like, if you're going to be the villain then you need to own it, not just when it suits you best!)
8. Sue and Teresa (the aura-cleansing spray <3 honestly in theory it seems miraculous that they made it three legs BUT they placed really high in the first two? Shoutout to Sue (I think?) for having a complete meltdown in the stairs counting Roadblock and dropping from 3rd to 10th, paving the way for another Lumilia cockroach stint!)
9. Sticky and Sam (they were nice? Really competent racers who just fell apart once they got to Cuba and apparently got U-Turned? I was expecting a much more nauseating edit with Sticky's arm but they were very totally fine! Nice and harmless but not particularly remarkable)
10. Ross and Tarryn (they were nice but their shtick of Tarryn wanting to prove herself As An Adult was very one note and nothing special. They were REALLY good racers for the first few legs but then got a bad flight to Dubai and just sucked after that. Oh well, thanks for salvaging Lucy and Emilia!)
11. Adam and Dane (they were fine. Like I guess Dane being vain was supposed to be their angle? They were super mediocre racers that I remember nothing about except that their penalty spared Lucy and Emilia by three minutes thankfully <3)

Finished TAR Australia 3 last night and I know this is potentially controversial but I don't think it's quite thaaaaat bad??? I don't know, I wouldn't call it good by any means and it's definitely the worst of the first three Australian seasons, but I don't think it's quite as bad as everyone made it out to be :fan: The cast is a bit lame and derivative but the route and edit were actually okay and I don't think the endgame was nearly as bad as I was expecting. It's probably a little worse than TAR Canada 3 for me but definitely better than 5 and 6.

1. Aston/Christie (alollllll these two psychos  Honestly I like them better than any team from season 1! They were just SO loud and SO annoying and SO bad at the Race and they really were the heart and soul of the first three legs for me. Highlights of theirs include: flirting with Daniel and Ryan in the airport over Christie being a life model, literally sitting in Daniel and Ryan's lap on the plane ride to Christchurch and infuriating Ashleigh and Jarrod, their performance at the tarantula eating task in Cambodia, Christie getting the temple Roadblock answer from Jono but then immediately saying that she was going to figure it out on her own anyway, and their entire boot leg performance?!?! They were getting on the plane to Thailand and Christie decided that she was D O N E with Aston because she...... put in for a wakeup call at the hotel? :joker: Christie spent the entire time at the airport bitching to Ashleigh and Jarrod about how Christie is a selfish cow, complaining on the airplane about how she is DONE working with her unbenevolent dictator of a partner, and then randomly screamed about how Christie doesn't understand the six Ps of life: proper preparation prevents piss poor performance!!!!! They then landed in Thailand and switched Detours twice and asked Cat and Jesse for help despite them being the last two teams :joker: I was very sad at their boot but in all honesty it's a miracle they survived past Leg 1 so I'll take what I can get. I also wouldn't be surprised if they weren't friends anymore after the Race and that would be sad )
2. Sally/Tyson (part of me feels weird for putting them at #2 but I'm sticking with my gut! I just really liked them. They were fun and nice and good people who went on a JOURNEY where they made multiple huge mistakes and would have been eliminated Leg 1 if not for Inga and Tiharna also making a big mistake, and then they slowly but surely became a legitimate threat to win! But even then, they typically gave up multiple places each leg because Tyson always had to stop and pee, and then they were THIS CLOSE to winning before Sally got overtaken in the final Roadblock because she was so distracted by Tyson proposing to her at the Pit Stop that she didn't pay attention to what the greeter was wearing :joker::sad: but their finale was super cute because Sally was just sobbing nonstop about how she loves the Race and she wants to do a 100 more legs and she's so sad it's over )
3. Elizabeth/Todd (okay so in all honesty Elizabeth having like five different confessionals about how OLD AGE AND TREACHERY WIN EVERY TIME or whatever got annoying, but the rest of their time racing included Elizabeth pointlessly lying about being the first woman to step foot on the moon (?!), an entire montage where Elizabeth is just sitting in the back of rickshaw taxi going "FASTER! FASTER!" and waving at other teams while everyone else seethes in confessionals about what a dirty player she is, that moment in the temple Roadblock where she BLOCKED Ashleigh passing her up the stairs and Jarrod bitched about what a fat ass she has, and when Elizabeth fell off a boat in Cambodia and somehow cut a huge whole into her arm and was almost medevaced? :joker: and then Todd was there too. They're not All Time Troy Favos but they really did have a lot of moments)
4. Carla/Hereni (this green will surely turn into yellow once this season gets further behind in the rear view mirror because they really didn't provide any moments at all and were just vaguely fun and vaguely rootable Kiwi mums who were one of the last saving graces of the season. Like, I legitimately have no moments of theirs to talk about, they were just presences that were liked? They weren't particularly good at the Race, they weren't particularly memorable... I really have nothing insightful to say, sorry!)
5. Emily/Jono (I went on a weird journey with them where I found them to be cute at first, then I suddenly found Jono to be VERY annoying because he was just oddly intense about certain aspects of the Race like beating John and Murray and when Emily lost their tickets to the temple and she ruined EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! even though they proceeded to win the leg alol. But ultimately I just kind of pity them and feel bad for them? They were actually really good racers for the first few legs but I felt like they never really got respect from anyone, and I *definitely* picked up some latent homophobia towards Jono from Murray AND John AND Jarrod so there's that. And then they only got eliminated because Jono didn't hydrate at all going into Namibia and collapsed multiple times during a physically laborious Roadblock that took FOREVER *and* on the way to the Pit Stop, only to be overtaken by Daniel and Ryan who at one point where in last place by a full hour  their elimination was one of the few examples of an #AmazingRaceBlindside, where they became so distressed that they walked off into the plains of Africa sobbing in disbelief that they were actually eliminated :joker: poor things)
6. Daniel/Ryan (I....... don't think they're that bad? I kept waiting for the ball to drop and for them to turn awful but it just never happened alol. Like, they were randomly really competent at certain parts of the Race and frustratingly had A LOT of lucky breaks including passing Emily and Jono on the way to the Pit Stop and Namibia and avoiding elimination, and then doing the exact same thing to Carla and Hereni in Argentina, but I'm not really mad about them as winners at all? I found their confessionals to be kind of engaging at times and I feel the same way about their win as I do about Tyler and Nathan's so )
7. Cat/Jesse (I went on a weird journey of kind of thinking they were cute, then getting REALLY annoyed by them, and then finding them Not That Bad so they land right here. Their whole shtick was just being parents who LOVED their kids and Jesse was a huge softy who would like cry and ****. And on top of that they weren't athletic at all so they were never cast as a team who had a realistic chance of winning alol. I got REALLY annoyed with them in the middle of their run because they'd have a few too many cringey jokes in confessionals and they were annoying hypocrites with the Aus/NZ divide. Like, they had a confessional in Leg 5 about how they're able to straddle the line between the Aus teams and the NZ teams and play both sides, then they got all upset when Carla and Hereni helped John and Murray get on an earlier flight to St. Petersburg and declared that the New Zealand alliance was DONE...... and then they got upset again at Carla and Hereni for not giving them the answer at the Roadblock when the supposed alliance was already done?! Also they complained SO MUCH about John and Murray isolating themselves in the Nation vs. Nation Battle in Russia but they could've just fixed it themselves??? Once they got to F5 though they just became huge back of the pack fodder and struggled to do, like, everything and didn't even try that hard in some of the tasks so it was kinda funny and fine. And then they of all teams got a huge OTTPP sendoff montage when they got eliminated :joker:)
8. Inga/Tiharna (they just seemed like big tryhards with their BRAINY BUSTY BRUNETTES shtick and how they wanted to SEDUCE THE MEN or whatever. I think they bought into the Australia vs. New Zealand **** way too much and I'm particularly scarred by Tiharna saying that she wants to get some fish and chips in Christchurch in an awfully put-on NZ accent :yuk: That being said, it did make me laugh when they left their ring behind on the raft and they had to drive back to the river and Inga was so stressed over being in last place that she made Tiharna pull over on the highway so she could throw up?! :joker: maybe there was some hidden potential there but oh well!)
9. John/Murray (cookie cutter CPN villains who weren't creative or inventive in any sense of the word so they were just lame. It's not even like they bounced well off of other teams because everyone else had confessionals that were like "uhh John and Murray are isolating themselves because they don't want to be ~distracted~ and it's weird af :conf2:" and after coming first or second in the first five legs, they isolated themselves so much to the point where they tanked a Nation vs. Nation Battle, completely bombed a Detour, came in last place and then embarrassingly had the Salvage Pass *not* used on them :joker: I don't like them but it was a truly fitting ending for them)
10. Ashleigh/Jarrod (okay I don't want to defend them but I kiiiiiiind of expected worse? I was expecting like Jonathan/Victoria or Art/JJ levels of bad and while these two suck, I was kind of underwhelmed and I was expecting to hate them a lot more lol. They just seemed MISERABLE throughout the whole Race and I don't know why they even went on the show in the first place. Jarrod in particular just complained about EVERYTHING and it wasn't fun at all. Like, you're traveling all over the world to a bunch of different countries, why are you surprised that people don't speak English?!?! He's just bogan trash and I definitely feel like he wouldn't give Someone Like Me the time of day. H O W E V E R..... their finale performance was a hilarious comeuppance as Jarrod threw a temper tantrum over everyday tasks such as eating a hotdog with mustard, having to use a pair of binoculars, and digging in the sand on the beach. I guess I'm a little thankful that even though they made me endure them for a full season, they ended the Race on the most humiliating note possible?)

Finished 21, and outside of the Twinnies (still one of the best TAR teams of all time and that's not even considering their Survivor legacies ) and the Chippendales the cast was pretty lacklustre. Abbie & Ryan started off strong but kind of fizzled out towards the end, and Lexi was great towards the end but her and Trey as a team could've given a little more entertainment. Very average season with a bunch of forgettable teams, but it had a decent ending overall and I didn't end up disliking any teams as such. Definitely nothing to shout about. Team Yale were a scream though <3

Finally finished rewatching 31, it wasn't as good as I initially remembered it to be at the time but it wasn't bad either. Any scenes with Rachel in them are always good  And I never have to watch Nicole Franzel on anything ever again thank god!!!

Season 31 rankings:
1) Rachel & Elissa
2) Corinne & Eliza
3) Colin & Christie
4) Janelle & Britney
5) Rupert & Laura
6) Chris & Bret
7) Becca & Floyd
8) Leo & Jamal
9) Art & JJ
10) Nicole & Victor
11) Tyler & Korey

I think that wraps up my TAR marathon watch for now but I may be tempted to rewatch 32 at some point just so I can have complete cast rankings for each season, but other than that I've really enjoyed watching the series back

Dumping my TARCan 8 thoughts here in this desolate forum!!!!

This season...... it wasn't good but it wasn't not good? A truly surreal TAR viewing experience with three boring ass episodes, COVID knocking out three teams and bringing back the first two elims, and then a new ~On Ramp~ twist to bring back two of the COVID teams??? The whole thing was absolutely hilarious and perplexing, especially when you consider that it took 9 of the 11 legs to properly eliminate half of the teams. That being said, it was a little exhausting and suffocating when you realized how many teams were still in by like Leg 7, and this franchise still has its problems with sanitizing any villainous behavior in the edit, but even so I found this season moderately enjoyable if not only ironically! Current season ranking would probably be 2/4 > 7 > 1 > 3/8 > 5 > 6. Not sure how I feel about this in comparison to 3 but they're both definitely a step up from 5 and 6 for me.

1. Beverley and Veronica (seemed like boring MOR racebots until the midgame where it was revealed that everyone in the race kinda hates them! They were largely competent until the knot tying Roadblock and then we had a few legs of Beveronica just trying to mooch for help from whatever team was near them. Franella and Beveronica had a few confessionals bashing each other and it all culminated in what I still think is the peak of the season, where Franella tried to game the Pass to get Beveronica eliminated but they somehow ended up surviving despite it being a Double Elimination?! It was a truly great performance and probably my favorite episode of the season. Sadly the feud kinda died after that but they were still fun until they boot where they ran a great leg until they couldn't memorize like seven words while doing an obstacle course :( )
2. Franca and Nella (went from being fun and likable to secretly evil villains to being not exactly likable but kinda rootable? A truly bizarre arc ESPECIALLY for a franchise like this where everyone defaults to MOR or MORP. They're a liiiiitle forced and Aware for my liking and The Alliance was a little annoying at times, but they were amazingly mercenary with trying to break the Pass in order to eliminate Beverley/Veronica AND cancelling the alliance as soon as they didn't want to be slowed down by Catherine and Craig anymore <3 they truly wanted to win more than any team I can remember in recent memory and it's a damn shame that they didn't win out)
3. Jesse and Marika (just kinda fun and likable? They're nice, good people who are also strong racers and weren't boring to watch despite what their edgic strip might imply. I like Jesse a good amount but Marika really ended up being the star of the endgame with her weepy meltdowns every time a team passed them or they got stuck at a task or when they realized that they lost to Catherine and Craig of all people which I don't blame her for?)
4. Jully and Kathy (remarkably ****ty racers but who cares? Jully at the adaptive bike Roadblock was a genuinely great moment and that alone is enough to put them up into green. The elimination is also kind of bull**** especially after what Dave pulled last season AND it kept Cedric/Tychon in the race so I'm still mad about it)
5. Cassie and Jahmeek (yes I am shocked that they are this high but the Jahmeek and Sarah meme was stupidly funny to me! But not only that, I think Cassie provided a lot of meltdown content that would've made the edit in any franchise other than this one? Like, this is a girl who PROUDLY asserted that she delayed getting pregnant for two years so she could get on this extremely mediocre television show and if that doesn't indicate a certain level of craziness that she possesses then I don't know what does?)
6. Catherine and Craig (SO fake and SO annoying and SO obnoxious and it should be funny but it never really got there with me? Their codependence on the alliance was actually annoying as hell and it still feels wrong that they won lmao but Catherine's story is actually sad even in spite of how annoyingly Theater the two of them are. I don't really know what the missing piece was but there was just something that wasn't there that prevented me from enjoying all the fake surprised reactions and cartwheels and ****ty dance moves as they mugged for the camera 25/7)
7. Brendan and Connor (I definitely don't like them, but I didn't really hate them like I expected to? For being the loudly annoying and extremely competent team, they weren't really even that annoying AND they were kinda not the best at racing in the second half of the season? They did impress me that one time where they found a shortcut to get to the Pit Stop and passed Court and Ali. The only thing that really annoyed me about them was the ~in the pocket~ **** but it really was tame in comparison to other **** this show has made me put up with like GIVER)
8. Dennis and Durrell (alol truly one of the most pathetic edgic strips ever <3 They seem like nice people I guess?)
9. Court and Ali (seem like Nice and they had some moments where I found them vaguely likable but there were more moments where I found them vaguely annoying, especially being part of The Alliance despite being so ****ing boring)
10. Cedric and Tychon (I'm unfamiliar with Tychon from BBCan but ultimately I'm not impressed! HE and his dad definitely thought they were Funny and providing Comedy but they were just vaguely annoying)

And then here are my overall and winner edgic charts for TARCan even though no one asked

What a boring season! This franchise really is the pits now and this season might somehow be worse than 5 and 6? It's close but this season wasn't even fun to snark on and that's really half the fun of TrashCan at this point! Only fun things to make fun of were ZANK GLOOP BOOP and "we want pancakes!" but even then I forgot all about we want pancakes until very recently. Kinda sad we got renewed for season 10 because it really deserves cancellation at this point. In summary, this interaction from the premiere truly sums up how ****ing dire this franchise is:

Anwar: Can you believe we were in Winnipeg this morning and now we're climbing off the side of a building in Calgary?
Jermaine: Exactly, it's The Amazing Race Canada *blank stare and slow nod*

1. Jermaine/Justin (Make Penalties Great Again  truly the antithesis of what this show is all about and I thank them for that)
2. Gracie/Lily (ummm they're big ****ing weirdos who could've been a lot of fun! But look at that edgic strip :yuk: but I saw the potential there so pity green)
3. Allie/Eddie (ultimately forgettable but Eddie was SO hapless and bad at like every challenge thrown his way and his meltdowns were kinda funny so pity green)
4. Tyler/Kayleen (pity green for being our lasting hope. Just SO boring and lame and dorky and lacking of any sort of charisma that it kinda worked???)
5. Deven/Amanda (kinda vibed similarly to Tyler/Kayleen where they were lame and boring and lacked charisma but didn't have that charmless charm)
6. Derek/Jaspal (controversial BUT they actually were kinda charming despite being awful loud YouTubers who I absolutely should've hated? I would've REALLY liked them more if the show leaned into the villain status but it's The Amazing Race Canada so the thought of negativity is blasphemous)
7. Shayla/Joel (boring but Joel was cute)
8. Gail/Gisele (Gisele is maybe the worst racer of all time because I don't think she did a single aspect of her one leg correctly BUT they also weren't exciting)
9. Ty/Kat (I don't even hate hate them but they're BORING and boringly dominant)
10. Ben/Anwar (also so ****ing boring and were somehow ~the strategists~ of the season by playing the middle between the frontrunners and the back of the pack teams and couldn't even make it interesting)

Finally watched the finale and eh. Very processional, just them doing tasks for the full time without any real Moments, which is kinda the big problem with TAR Canada in general? It's so much of people running the race parallel to each other rather than against each other. Kevin and Gurleen really tried their best to bring life back to the season but it really peaked at the U-Turn and hasn't really been that good since? I know lots of us were praising the season for TAR Canada being BACK, but then it went back to its subpar state lol. Like of course this season was better than 9 but I still preferred 7 and 8 for sure.

https://i.imgur.com/qSrPvaU.png

1. Kevin/Gurleen (literally the only team that breathed any life or conflict into this season, one of the easiest #1s ever)
2. Dorothy/Olus (Dorothy sobbing that HER LEGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSS hurt and she wants to go home before reaching the first Route Marker is all-time back of the pack TAR content)
3. Lauren/Nicole (a little sanctimonious and whiny about getting Passed and omg that edgic strip is so uninspiring BUT they were also MORfun and kinda neat girls with a great skill set for the race?)
4. Michael/Tyson (could've been fun himbos in a different franchise but alas this is The Amazing Race Canada)
5. Brad/Sam (could've been a fun bickering father/daughter team but alas this is The Amazing Race Canada)
6. Colin/Matt (unpopular opinion BUT they didn't bother me at all. They hardly registered as a team for the first half of the season but they were nice enough and annoyed me 0 times so gj)
7. Julia/Olivia (were kind of annoying at times but they at least had the decency to be U-Turned by Kevin/Gurleen)
8. Eva/Trystenne (arguably the least remarkable first boots of a very unremarkable franchise, gj!)
9. Michael/Amari (had the potential to be situationally interesting at times but alas this is The Amazing Race Canada. Their sudden heel turn in their last two legs attempting to be villains was out of nowhere and kinda funny but also very tryhard and didn't amount to anything. I also hate Amari's stupid hat that he tried to make happen)
10. Taylor/Katie (I think I'm supposed to like them because they're an F/F winning team BUT they were both annoyingly loud and whine-cried a lot and made the UGLIEST faces that I kinda hate them???)
11. Connor/John (I don't want to seem ableist by bashing the little person but John was also the most annoying person on this season and it was entirely due to his personality so sorry!)

And then let's do a season ranking because why not...

2
4
7
1
8
3
10
6
9
5

Bring on 11 I guess :conf:
