View Full Version : Do you like BB14?

Daniel.
19-07-2015, 08:32 PM
Just wondering because although I enjoyed it for the most part I find it so overrated, only Gina, Hazel and Sallie were good really.

BB13 is a million miles better imo.

Jake.
19-07-2015, 08:34 PM
no not really

Oaker
19-07-2015, 08:34 PM
I like it - it's better than some of Channel 4's last series, but it doesn't even come close to BB13.

It's the second best C5 civilian series but very overrated

Yeah, the only thing better about 14 over 13 is the eviction order imo.

My favourite Channel 5 series and the last time I actually enjoyed a whole BB series.

Sallie first though </3

But yeah I agree, not too bothered because my favourite (Deana) lasted until the end.

One of the best series on Channel 5, plus it had Live Feed.

Pete.
19-07-2015, 08:42 PM
Love it. There were so many interesting storylines and characters which helped to carry the show. The producers successfully re-launched the 'bedsit' scenario with great success because of Gina and Dexter. Also big characters like Gina and Hazel were miraculously kept in!

The only thing negative really was the shockingly bad mole task which should have been executed perfectly because they had 14 years to think up a good way to integrate a mole into the game but it was just bad and robbed us of Sallie

Pete.
19-07-2015, 08:44 PM
Also Emma was fresh and seemed to be enjoying the show

Daniel.
19-07-2015, 08:45 PM
What storylines apart from Gina vs Hazel and the TRASH love triangle?

http://cdn.thisisbigbrother.com/customavatars/avatar82167_35.gif.

Jake.
19-07-2015, 08:45 PM
why

Mainly because it was where the whole production issues started to come into play (not as obvious as BB15 but still) and Gina. I know it might sound silly to not enjoy a series because of one housemate but yeah, thought she was an awful person and the way she was lapped up was horrid.

Lostie!
19-07-2015, 08:46 PM
Very average and extremely overrated IMO. Definitely some stuff I really enjoyed, but on the whole it just didn't compell me much at all.

Jake.
19-07-2015, 08:46 PM
I appreciated the fact that they stuck in some live feed, mind

Oaker
19-07-2015, 08:47 PM
I didn't like that in the first week some of the Housemates didn't shut up about the Secrets and Lies theme, they shouldn't have told them about it imo.

Oh god yeah, Gina's popularity was a big factor in my disinterest in the series too. I actually stopped watching originally (around halfway) but eventually went back and watched the second half the following year (when I knew she didn't win ).

Didn't it have the stupid Sam vs Sophie thing, where Sophie kept saying Sam didn't like her over and over again?

I agree about the twists, I thought Gina was one of the few good housemates in the series though.

Gina being a big part of the show was the only negative I have from the series, the public adoration of her was intolerable most of the time, but apart from that I really enjoyed it.

Meant to click dislike oops.

Dexter and Gina were crap. Calum was crap. Twins were crap. Sophie was crap. Sam was a bit crap and the default winner bc everyone else was so terrible (except Saint charlie who had already been assassinated as 'woman a man has fallen for and thus must be evil' fodder by that point)

Jemima and Jackie were the true winners.

Because I thought she was quite an unpleasant person and totally underserving of the adoration she received.

I prefer a series where one housemate isn't constantly shoved down our throats. Shame, we've had it for the past 3 years now.

Pete.
19-07-2015, 08:54 PM
Emma's first series. :flutter:
Her look was always on point and she made the evictions more of an event at the time. The Wolfy eviction was amazing because of the amount of press attention focused on Hazel's 'inevitable' exit and if she'd get beaten up lol

When was she unpleasant when someone else wasn't unpleasant to her first

She went around wildly accusing Jemima of racism before even trying to get to the bottom of that situation rationally (and made a mockery of real racism in the process).

After returning from the safe house she acted like a spoilt little diva about Jackie being in her bed (as far as they were concerned, Gina was gone, Jackie did nothing wrong by moving into that bed and certainly had no obligation to move back as soon as Gina returned).

She seemed to be having an absolute ball on the night of the Charlie witch hunt (that one wasn't just her of course).

The "cheap Primark shoes" comment sticks in my mind too. In that case, Sallie did start the argument but that doesn't excuse Gina being a snob and essentially insulting a whole lot of other people too. Wasn't Zoe crucified by the public for perceived snobbery?

Ross.

Yeah definitely, the live shows were great and Emma was a breath of fresh air (I still love her tho but it's like she's a robot reading a script sometimes now). Hazel surviving those evictions against the odds as well. :clap1:

I'm not saying Gina was the worst that night though, out of everyone I think the twins pissed me off the most during that.

Oh lol I was talking about the time when the winning team got a pizza party and the losing team couldn't eat it but the porky Jack ate the pizza and the winning team got sent to jail. I think Jack gloated in front of the prison and Callum (?) had an argument with him.

I don't understand the BB13 love. I remember nothing of that series apart from The White Room, Conor saying that stuff to Deana and that the Housemates were free to discuss nominations for the first two weeks.

Big Brother 14 on the other hand was fantastic. I think it was the first time the show had felt like an actual event. Emma was announced as host, BOTS got new hosts, the House had the biggest makeover in years, the idea of the theme, the logo, the Housemates - it felt exciting. I remember much more of this series than I do most other Channel 5 series. I think if they should do anything, it's go back to how they did BB14.

MB.

In hindsight I remember loving it. Although there were some casting duds, they really nailed it by getting interesting people from all walks of life into one house. We had a loudmouth tattoo model Sallie, a slimy, calculating business man Dexter that we all grew to love, a bickering set of twin brothers, a spoilt rich girl Gina who was amazing, a mother/daughter duo, Dan the paranoid cop and Wolfie the cocky fisherwoman. Such a bizarre authentic/diverse cast but it worked so well and its a formula that channel 5 needs to replicate for its civilian series. Such a shame Sam won though, still salty about that.
