I've really come around to her! I had absolutely no thoughts on her going into it (I think she was even a bottom 10 houseguest for me at one point?!?!?!?!) but she's been one of the best parts of the rewatch! A few of my thoughts have changed a bit since the rewatch (I have 2.5 episodes left) so I'm glad I did it!

So I'm currently watching BBCan4 before the new series start, I'm mid way through week four at the moment (Raul and Kelsey on the block after Joel nominated) and Cassandra, Nikki and Kelsey are the holy trinity? Yes?

Its the second one I've watched (currently re-watching 4 after seeing it live last year) and honsestly I loved it. I liked the Cast, the dynamics, the gameplay, the challenges. Will probably go to 3 after my rewatch of 4. And then finish 1, but I really cant get into it.

Mitch was really dull in the first five weeks but I was soooo sad to see him go in the last episode, he'd really shone in the last week. I'm liking the season so far but I do prefer 2 & 3 at the moment (I haven't seen BBCan1 yet). I'm going to be watching BBCan5 after finishing 4 and then watch BB1 later probably.

Ah, Nikki being in BBCAN was literally the best thing ever. She really didn't dissapoint and was really genuine and funny. One of the few I didn't strongly dislike in the season.

I also found Loveita completely overrated, she was very catty and not in an entertaining way :shrug:

So I actually thought this season was pretty good tbqh! Better than three but not as good as two. I actually thought the season improved a lot once it had reached the jury stage, the first few weeks were a drag and the house divide storyline quickly became tedious. My favourite up until the last third or so was Kelsey but she let me down when she just sided with the Paqs Bro's and became a bit boring to what she was before! So I'll just post my rankings below :

As I didn't watch feeds in BBCAN2, having watched BBCAN5 its making me re-evaluate my thoughts. As Neda is such a mean spirited person, I don't think i could watch BBCAN2 ever again or root for the 'underdogs'

I've been reflecting on all this though...and I definitely think part of Neda's appeal (at least for me) back then must've been her alliance with the Sloppy Seconds. Obviously she's a great from a game perspective, but her being a part of one of the most rootable alliances of all time definitely has to play into why I liked her so much, because now she is literally destroying the season and aligning with monumentally boring people, she's not as rootable? I don't dislike her (yet), but I certainly am not really interested in just watching her steamroll the season if she's gonna make it boring to watch in the process.

So idk, I kinda think Neda's appeal was definitely helped by who she was aligning with

For sure! Which is weird cause in BBUK I actually find it kinda weird when people start disliking housemates that their favourites dislike, even if they liked them before? That sort of stuff doesn't affect my opinions, but I suppose cause this is a different format if you're not aligning with fun or ~good~ people, you're not really gonna make the season interesting

I feel bad for putting Pilar with the likes of Bruno, Bobby and Graig as I'm sure she's popular on here, but her awful gameplay just couldn't make up for her personality... a little bit like Big Brother 2, I'm quite happy with how the season worked out, and probably my favourite final two thus far. A little bit frustrating at times however, in that people just seemed to conform to those in power.

What I have noticed about Big Brother Canada is that the public seem to vote the complete opposite way to how our public votes. It's nice to see them vote in favour of people like Sarah and Brittnee over the likes of Zach and Bruno. It's not something you'd see very often in our series.

From what I saw of BBCan4, them being xenophobic wasn't even the reason I disliked them. I don't think I even saw that actually as I'm sure that happened towards the end of the season and I had already stopped watching long before that but I just found their gameplay painful to watch with how paranoid and cowardly they were. I remember Demetres summing it up perfectly on the feeds last week that he didn't like the way they played too scared or something along the lines of that. Though that applies more to Phil if anything, I didn't really mind Nick iirc.

No, that alone doesn't make them xenophobic, but attempting to ostricize them, calling them names, and outwardly saying that they don't "deserve to be here" with no particular reason other than the fact that they're not Canadian is proof enough.

But to answer your question, no, I don't dislike them because they were xenophobic. I dislike them because they're nasty pieces of work.

I'd personally say BBCAN3 betters both. I do think they've played it far too safe since the show was unaxed - both BB6 and BB7 were underwhelming, especially BBCAN6 where they could have done so much with the Heaven and Hell theme but basically threw away the twist after a week. I've long wanted to see the "Battle" Rich/Poor format within the US HoH version of the show and that was the potential to do it.


Not sure I'd do a rewatch as it's all still quite recent for me but would highly recommend any of the first few seasons of BB Canada for people who haven't seen it, especially those who've tried the US version but couldn't get into it. BB Canada may follow the same rules but it has a much more BBUK vibe to it - you can tell that initially at least it was made by fans for fans.

Danielle going home </3333, I really liked her and she had so much potential to be a great character. Gary/Suzette/Talla keeping Danielle :love: I am so annoyed that Aneal stayed because he did not even do anything to keep himself. Alec and Peter did all the work for him, while he just sat there and cried. AND now Tom won HOH which basically means one of Gary/Suzette/Talla will probably go home :bawling: Hopefully the power shifts and the three can avenge Danielle!

Decided the best use of lockdown is to rewatch BBCAN1 - and so far I've not been proven wrong.

It's amazing actually how much it has aged in such a short space of time and in many ways it is somewhat of a throwback to early BBUS/UK seasons too - and that is a good thing. Arisa was amazing from the start, the casting is brilliant and little things like having full titles every episode and finishing the HoH comp within the "live" show make it all the better. In addition they usually throw in an extra task or event in every show too, yet they never feel rushed or drawn out.

Are a couple of early negatives - they clearly threw in a twist purely to save Suzette which was pointless as she wasn't that great a housemate (her only contribution was how much she wound Tom up), and they were always a bit too self congratulatory on revealing their secret missions (Suzette being HoH in week one might have been so much better if that had remained a secret) but at just over the half way point it's been a really enjoyable watch and gets better with every week.


I do feel like I probably should do something a bit more productive over the next couple of weeks but I suspect BB2/3 will be too much to resist.

Also liked the way they incorporated some of the international style tasks into the show - Andrew's twin coming in when they were all frozen was brilliant.

Overall, it was a really great season! It had some great characters who were really entertaining and rootable. It also had a good mixture of drama, gameplay, funny moments, and more! It even had a messy finale :love:

Talla almost out Nikki'd Nikki. I suspect she was put in there exactly for that reason.

As for Peter - I remember absolutely hating him in the first series and was so annoyed they go him on Side Show, but then he proved to be great value on that. I've not found him anywhere near as annoying rewatching this series until his final week when he just proved how dumb he was when it came to his own game. He could have flipped the season completely had he used his Veto on Topaz, but everyone seemed to think they were good with Emmett that season.


I've just got the final week to go now - think my ratings will be quite different to Paiges. I'll have to see if I posted any at the time so see how they differ on a second watch.

Started on BBCAN2 now - everything seems such as a step up from season 1 and though ultimately they weren't the most popular alliance in BB history I do think the First 5 Alliance was one of the most effective and who knows what might have happened had they not thrown in the Canada HoH twist - though that was the perfect time to throw in a twist like that even if pure gameplayers didn't like it.
