The X Factor is ditching acts before Boot Camp has even started - and some of them aren't happy about it.

According to the Daily Star, acts who got a 'yes' at their arena audition were shocked to find out that it didn't necessarily mean that they'd make it to the next stage of the competition.

One hopeful revealed that producers had sent acts an email advising them not to book any travel in case they hadn't actually won a place at Boot Camp - and claimed that auditionees would only find out on Saturday if they'd made it through, with Boot Camp due to begin this week.

It's not the first time that contestants have been dropped before Boot Camp begins, but previously they've been "culled" when they arrived and an X Factor source suggested that this year's email was a "kinder and fairer" way of cutting down the number of acts taking part.

An X Factor spokesperson confirmed the reports to Digital Spy, saying: "Owing to a very high standard of talent during this year's X Factor arena auditions, not all successful singers have been offered a place at Bootcamp.

"All singers have been made aware of this and were told this weekend whether or not they would be going through to Boot Camp, after the judges had reviewed their auditions."

Previous reports have suggested that Boot Camp will be held at a manor house in the country in an attempt to sex up the show.

Why do people even bother with this ****-fest anymore? it's really overstayed its welcome.

Almost as bad as next year's X Factor winner already being dropped by Syco Records

I agree, it's not that interesting anymore, i still watch because it's something to watch but don't care about the show that much.

It is kinder to do this rather than let them get to London and then drop them, is it the done thing to criticise every last thing that goes on as seems to happen in every thread, no wonder people are not bothering to post, it's like being in an old folks home all the moaning that goes on, in fact i am probably doing old folks a disservice :hehe:

but it's really unfair how the judges said yes so they think they're getting to boot camp but eliminating them before boot camp, why say yes to them in the first place?

I understand they felt it fairer to inform them by email not to turn up but it's messy giving them a yes and then a no before they see them again. They saw something in the act to get 3 yeses.

What would say 20 extra contestants matter?

Exactly, when was the last time an act made a lasting impact?

Tbh this show just likes clown acts nowadays.

Thank god that Simon hasn't got his claws into The Voice franchise yet, different types of singers, different song choices, and normal stage productions and audition rounds.

Less focus on having Katie Waissel style drama which has killed our X Factor.
