Im surprised he knows what Social Media is

What a godawful response. They really need to stop falling back on the "social media is amazeballs xoxoxo" crap when we get barely any ****ing updates from it.

And just LOL at "the world has moved on since the early years of the show". So, live feed was only an important aspect in the "early years"? How is that? :umm2:

I can deal without live feed, it's these insulting excuses they pull out that royally piss me off.

They can't really use that excuse as they've now proper cut the amount of YouTube videos going up, I know that's not really social media but it's all internet n stuff, we used to have 4 or 5 updates a day now just a couple a week
And the website and app rarely work smoothly

TBH, I'm glad we don't have live feed. Lets be real here, who'd want to watch more than an hour of BB15 and BB16 a day anyway?

Live Feed for CBB, please tho?

I said please.

This to me sums up one of the main problems with the show right now- the powers that be just don't seem to care about, or respect the fans. Whenever we ask questions about things like live feed or complain, they disregard us and give us bullsh*t excuses rather than be honest about why they make these decisions. There are two reasons for the lack of live feed in my opinion, and these are the cost, and the fact that they want complete control over what they output in order to put focus on the storylines they want people to focus on e.g. potential 'romances' or feuds between two housemates (Perez vs Katie, Ashleigh vs Helen etc). And this is why their viewing figures are bombing.

Glenn.

It just shows how out of touch with the fans and how out of touch they are with the show. Axe it tbh I don't even care for it anymore.

Jason.
07-08-2015, 08:25 PM
How much does it actually cost to run live feed?

If they could manage it in 2013, why can't they now? Surely they'd have more money now, given the success of the Celebrity version and all that

Not to mention how vague those tweets are

Jamesy
07-08-2015, 08:39 PM
It would be a fair point if they actually used social media to its fullest... a few tweets/statuses and links to the crappy C5 website hardly "engage[s] directly with the programme's many fans".

Plus the app is hardly worth a mention. It's a ****ing website wrapper.

Ant.

We believe this approach best reflects the habits and preferences of today's audiences.

Pretty much everyone is asking to Live Feed, Emma Willis asked for live feed, no one wants a vague 140 letter update every fifteen minutes, we want live feed

If it meant I got to see the housemates of BB15 underneath all the editing, I'd have watched the live feed.

bb13 live feed would of been amazing and the bits of live feed we saw in 14 were amazing and loads of the hilarious moments lost their humour on the hls because of the over editing.

Y'all should read the 'live feed axed' thread on DS. Turns out that letter that the person originally sent was a 65 page dossier.

They've actually updated the YT page, I don't think they did for BB16 when eye/ad was released.

Jason.
07-08-2015, 09:28 PM
Why have they stopped updating Youtube videos now?

It's been like that since CBB15. Before they used to upload video updates like every 10 minutes, now they upload a video every 4/5 days. Wtf is that about?

Probably so that more people use the website for the videos

I hate the website. It's so dark and depressing. And they don't even put much videos on there anymore. BB16 hardly had anything.

The website needs a huge overhaul, it could be really good.

But none of those claim to put such big importance on social media/general internet stuff :fist:

They were never going to bring back live feed/this isn't really a surprise and frankly idc anymore. Big Brother isn't what it used to be to me, it's pretty much just 'any other TV show' now and if the guys behind the scenes want to continue purposely insulting their fans and ruining what could easily be the network's biggest show if they just hired someone half adequate at the job then I say go ahead. I don't think I'll ever understand how one group of people can make such a mess of a TV programme.

Why can't they just modernise it then and have a live stream on the app?

"the world has moved on"

Well it's also gone backwards. Seriously, in the year 2000 we were able to see everything. Now, whatever they can chop together and shove on twitter.

I would willingly pay for it tbh, £15 for a season pass

If we see everything, then they can't manipulate and edit it into the way they want

Erm whats the problem with having live feed AND social media interaction?.....Actually the websites on Channel 4 used to have more viewer interaction and updates whilst still providing a feed so hes talking out of his gash.

Its really insulting when the people in charge of a show you love openly LIE to your face because we aall know the real reason is so they can control content and manipulate the show more if they don't have live feed. Now if he had said the latter I would have atleast respected an honest response lol.

David Lynn runs a lot of territories doesn't he?

Seriously though when will these people learn that the ratings will go up if Live Feed is reinstated? And give out rules that every Housemate has to follow instead of giving some Housemates immunity (Danny I'm looking at you) and giving other people warnings and ejections for a lot less in the same series.

Ashley.

I certainly don't. I find the website hard to navigate, and old videos disappear when new videos are uploaded.

If there was live feed, they wouldn't be able to manipulate the show as much as they do. And there would be no time for producers to enter the house to brief the HM's.

Ant.

I do, I hate the video player and website as a whole but it's the only way to watch a lot of the videos (which is pretty much 3/4 a day as opposed to the amount we got last series)

The video thing annoys me, especially as they wouldn't disappear on YouTube. They're only going backwards

He's true though. Social media these days is a preferred way to deliver such live feed ideals but I think for this to be anywhere near successful we'd need more posts on live feed and perhaps more videos/photos. Perhaps the fact the most Youtube videos were averaging less than a thousand views is suggestive that they don't try as hard because they think we don't want it. IMO an hours live feed late at night would serve as justice enough, just as a small fix, remember the celebrity series where Charlotte won? That had an hours live feed on the app and I tuned in each time it played!

Also remember that we did have live feed from 7-9PM with Secrets on Lies on 5* and the reason that was cancelled after a few weeks because viewing figures were at 70,000. Compared to the slot average of 300,000! IMO live feed on one of Channel 5's sister channels would be good, however with viewing figures being ever lower for the civilian series it's highly unlikely will see it. And as for CBB, I don't think live feed would be considered 'acceptable' for those willing to sign up as much as we'd want it!

It just shows how much they actually know about the show they are airing then, Live Feed is the most important part of BB and a lot of those fans he mentions completely disagree with him about the social media updates, that doesn't replace Live Feed, it doesn't even come close IMO, especially when they add about 2 updates a day and maybe a 3 second video clip if we are lucky, I really hope the person that standard reply was sent to got back in contact and told them that was bull****!

Ashley.
12-08-2015, 08:44 AM
They haven't even tested it though tbh. If they put the live feed on the website I'm sure a lot of fans would pay to access it. Maybe if they started producing good seasons, people would be even more inclined to check up on the housemates and their daily routines.

It just shows how evolved the show has become. When it first came out, the show depended on live feed. More people were watching the feeds than the actual highlights show; the 25-minute highlight shows were almost like news bulletins just for people to see how the housemates are getting on. Nowadays, highlight shows are like actual episodes and the show depends on them.

Surely it doesn't cost them much to put in a live feed?

I'd actually wouldn't be as angry if they just came out and admitted it's because they want to manipulate the show as much as possible
