they say:
"No overt racism has been done, There has been only cultural and class difference."
"Shilpa hasn't complained, so no action will be taken."
My question is they were doing behind her back, of course she wont complain. She doesn't know its happening, however viewers have seen it.
hence the outcry.
They have just let themselves off

i m not surprised ....
How will she complain if she isn't aware of all the goings on? The house is installed with 37 cameras for public viewing, hence the outcry from the public!!! Shilpa doesn't have 37 eyes to see everything
This is just what I expected. Ratings are up in the name of one person having to endure racial slurs and bullying in the name of entertainment, they are having a party, why would they want to ruin their luck now

She does not know about it,
so for her she is doing fine,
at this moment she is making a Modern Art Structure
with Ian and Jermaine.
It ain't a Problem.
They are taking the easy way out just because it's bringing such huge publicity to the show and that in turn equals higher ratings figures.By putting it down to Shilpa to complain they are signalling that if you can do it behind someone's back you will get away with it.

"There has been only cultural and class difference."
ONLY cultural and class difference? Are you kidding me? Of course there's a frikkin' culture difference.. Shilpa's a respecful woman, Jade's a pig. It's not only a difference though.. it's bullying, singling out and being plain mean.
I wish Channel4 would stop making silly excuses.

Their statment...
"To date there has been no overt racial abuse or racist behaviour directed against Shilpa Shetty within the Big Brother house. However there has undoubtedly been a cultural and class clash between her and three of the British females in the house.
"Unambiguous racist behaviour and language is not tolerated under any circumstances in the Big Brother house. Housemates are constantly monitored and Channel 4 would intervene if a clear instance of this arose.
"It is in the nature of Big Brother that conflicts arise and housemates are encouraged to resolve issues among themselves.
"Shilpa has not voiced any concerns of racial abuse to Big Brother. Housemates have access to support from Big Brother at all times.
"The issue of whether there is racism in the CBB House has been discussed on Channel 4's companion programmes CBBLB and BB's BM and a range of views has been aired, including those of BB viewers."

I find it ridiculous that we live in a democracy and 20,000 people have asked for ACTION
But Channel 4 are an entity to their own!
The government and ofcom seem powerless!
Its the war of ratings that they care about. Not about figing racism/bullying
Red Moon

I think Channel 4 with be thinking along the lines that only 10,000 or so of the people who have contacted Ofcom will be viewers out of 3.5 million people or so who watched the show.
Losing 10,000 viewers won't hurt them, in fact the it's doing them good. Some 4.5 million people watched the show last night.
As for the Government they only lay down guidelines. If Chaanel 4 hasn't broken the law it can't do anything. We have a free press.

It isn't politics, love. I find it funny that some people get more offended about ignorant semi-racist remarks than they do by the hanging of Saddam Hussein. But oh well.

Channel 4 has issued a statement regarding the ongoing allegations of racism and bullying in the Big Brother house.
The statement in full:

it's obviously offending since every human being should be treated equally regardless of race, we're all humans at the end of the day. When bullying and racism is prevaling and nothing is being done about it...it's obviously a problem......where the hell did saddam hussein come from, he was a dictator, and the people that hung him where bloody americans....THAT's A TOTALLY DIFFERENT ISSUE...WTF
