The X Factor's ratings are just getting worse with last night's first live show putting in a woeful figure.

An average audience of 5.6 million viewers tuned in to watch the opening live performances, a notable series low.

The marathon episode ran from 8PM to 10:25PM and that figure includes those who caught up on ITV+1.

It's down around a million viewers on last weekend's poor numbers and almost 2 million on last year's Halloween weekend live show, or 2.5 million down on 2014's opening live episode.

By comparison, Strictly Come Dancing climbed slightly week-on-week as it continued to go strong with 9.4 million viewers, TRASHING The X Factor with its audience now almost twice as big.

There was a 15 minute overlap between the two episodes with Strictly peaking with 9.9 million viewers.

Halloween would've certainly hurt X Factor but it's not a new thing with last year's show still putting in an audience of over 7 million viewers, and Strictly was able to grow its audience on last weekend too.

The ratings for The X Factor last night make the episode the least watched this year by some margin with the previous low 6.4 million, and the numbers are possibly it's lowest ever viewing figure for a live show since series one.

Both Strictly and X Factor are back tonight with their respective results shows but for the first time in weeks will not clash.

Strictly airs from 7:15PM on BBC One while X Factor kicks off straight after at 8PM on ITV.

I honestly don't get the strictly ratings, like IAC it looks like the same thing every year with different people, that said I have yet to watch a full show

There's more knitters watching tv these days though, X Factor appeals to a lower age in general.

To be fair though, so is X Factor.

But yeah, don't really get the entertainment in watching other people dance.

Poor excuse

Nobody has to give any excuse lmao. If they're doing poor then they're doing poor. They have no obligation to attract millions..

Excuse? :joker:

XF is still as booming as it always is

They tampered with it too much and its lost viewers where as Strictly, GBBO and IACGMOOH have kept the original format

That's why I don't get the disparity in ratings, I guess its the celebrities on Strictly that attract viewers

At least on the X there are different songs, every time I tune into Strictly Pasha is waltzing with someone...I really don't get the appeal, I think it's just more fashionable to watch Strictly at the moment :idc:

I love Strictly but then again I took dancing lessons last year and found how challenging it was and loved every minute.

If Strictly and X factor were directly on at the same time, I would watch Strictly every time over it now.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you thought that was title-worthy. The X Factor has been on its knees for years and Strictly thrashes it by a margin of up to 3 million every weekend. Nothing new.

Strictly pretty much has a focused audience but with XF it's all over the shop these days, tries to appeal to all sorts

A year off might do the show good...just no new **** like Red or Black please
