...also Lucozade might have been dropped as the sponsors.

Channel 5 has revealed the first details about the three Big Brother UK series in 2016 as it seeks a new sponsor for the show, with another May launch possible for the civilian version.

Sky Media, which became the broadcaster’s advertising sales agency earlier this year as part of its tie-up with Viacom, has posted vague scheduling information for the year ahead on its website.

The next Celebrity Big Brother in January will last for a minimum of 26 days – although the last winter run ended up becoming the longest ever on 31 days.

The seventeenth normal series will span a minimum of 64 days and begin in either May or June – suggesting that C5 is still open to the idea of a May launch, even though the last run suffered a ratings drop after it was brought forward three weeks from the usual early June start.

CBB will then return for its summer edition in either July or August for at least 24 days.

C5 and Sky are looking for a new sponsor for all three series, with interested brands being offered exclusive product placement inserts, BB brand licensing and a microsite fronted by presenters Emma Willis and Rylan Clark in addition to the usual TV advertising slots.

This suggests that soft drinks firm Lucozade has ended its second stint as Big Brother’s sponsor. Having previously backed the tenth series on Channel 4 in 2009, it returned for the ‘Timebomb’ civilian and ‘UK vs. USA’ Celebrity runs this summer.

The last winter CBB was sponsored by shopping website Gumtree.

Yesterday, C5’s director of programmes Ben Frow promised we’ll see a “very different” Big Brother next year as producers seek to revitalise the show following it disappointing performance.

Whilst I'm not against the idea of it launching in May, it can't be as early as they launched it this year as it flopped massively in the ratings. If they're going for it again, they need to push it back into the last week of the month, or at least wait until BGT finishes it's live week.

Tbh I really don't think it was the early start that messed things up for Timebomb. The officials would have been better otherwise.

Mess at them not knowing how long any of the runs will be.

I'm guessing 3 weeks CBB is back - well for the summer anyway.

It's the sh*tbomb that messed the series up. Not the time it started.

If they're going to have a May launch again, I hope it's in the last week of May as opposed to the ridiculously early launch of Timebomb. Although if BB17 is going to be 64 days, I'd rather it launched in June so it would be on more during the summer holidays.

Do they not realise that a large propotion of the audience are High School/College/Uni students? May-June is usually exam season so that could've been a reason for low figures last year.

I don't think exam season was the problem tbh. I mean Weeks 3-5 still rated low and that was around the time BB13-BB15 had launched/first weeks and they all rated considerably higher than BB16, despite being on the same time of the year.

The May launch was a stupid idea because they decided to launch it ridiculously straight after the election and with zilch promotion too - a lethal combination for BB ratings. That and the amount of people who turned off after BB15 and vowed to not bother with the show again and the production of BB16 being even worse than the previous summer which lost some die-hard fans along the way is the reason BB16 rated awfully.

It wasn't the main reason but it was a factor imo.

Plus unless you're a die hard fan it's unlikely you'd start watching from Week 3 if you had no idea who the housemates were.

It says we'll see a "'very different'" BB. Do you think that means more production manipulation, or no? Less posh people with agents?

I feel like Channel 5 are the type of gals to give us a 50 day civilian series with 24 housemates.

They won't launch in May with Emma due anyway. It'll be later than usual if anything - perhaps even later than BB14.

When would the unnecessary summer CBB start? September? :omgno:

Although I'd be happy with your suggestion if there was no summer CBB at the end of it. Maybe launch it a week earlier on the 10th, and end it on the 19th.

I wouldn't mind this actually, BB running through the majority of August is great

I don't like BB running through late August tbh. Hated it during BB8-11. Mid-August finale like BB6, 7, 13, 14, and 15 is the best for me. No earlier, no later.
