My fear is that the liberal left, will pander to the extremists, and that means that they have a right to dictate their values to the people of europe, and will have laws to have you locked up for saying no, I can not believe in what the left wing journalists came out with, by saying that it is are fault that these people did what they had done, and are society had alienated them, hang on here, these people do not want to integrate, all they want to do is dictate their way of life, and if they don't get what they want, they use the bomb and bullet, left-wing leaders like merkel have caused culture genocide, to the people of europe, they tried to jail marie le pen and it backfired, two days before the attack, the polls went over the roof in support of her, it looks set that the right wing are getting stronger every minute, if no government is set to close their borders, and deport trouble makers, then every city and town and street will be covered in blood, and it would make the attack in paris look like a small brawl, my fear is that a civil war is getting more real in a fast time,

No it won't. It will a lot of the threat away though.
A nuke has the potential to kill a lot of people, but it wont kill them all, it could devastate a city, but it wouldn't kill everyone, at least not immediately. We couldn't nuke several entire countries, to do so would wipe ourselves out too. Meanwhile those that are killed become martyrs to the cause, recruiting thousands more willing to terrorise us.
Extreme violence, revenge, whatever you want to call it, will not resolve the issue.

France have launched massive Airstrikes on Syria
20 bombs is not massive. lol. Russia is doing 400 a day.
So heartbreaking on the news there was a flase alarm and they were running for there life's you could see the fear on the faces :(
It's a shame they're not atomic bombs. Still time for that though.
Are you serious? That will just cause an out right nuclear war.

Dropping atomic bombs is not a good idea. So many innocent civilians would die and even the ones who managed to survive would see long term health problems

I'm not sure that figure is right about the Russian strikes. The French military themselves described this evenings bombings as massive, they're heavy strikes in a concentrated area all focused on Raqqa

Angela Merkel is not left wing.
she is left wing where she shouldsnt be and right wing where she shouldn't be....she does nothing for workers rights and enslaves us all to huge corporations....she is massively litigious and strangles small business with red tape, she has built a monstrous monolithic wasteful unaccounted unaccountable nightmare which has a 587 page constitution, that no one has read or even understood. she has mish mashed 30 odd ancient countries with 1000s of years of history and stolen their sovereignty....all of which has lead to rivers of blood....oh but she is right wing in one way, she panders to enormous corporations. why do you think she wants open borders? erm to get cheap labour and the falling but ageing german population to rise
a dangerous person who stabbed her mentor in the back to get on, if she had even sense of decency she would resign and disappear.

The press make me laugh sometimes. I would like to know how competent they would be in a completely shocking scenario where hundreds were being killed around them. Yes its the police and they are trained etc, but nothing prepares you for that scenario. I say well done to the police in Paris for doing well in an almost impossible scenario

I know where you are coming from the impact of the plane was "diminished" by the mixed messages as to what happened to it, ISIS claimed it but that was quickly brushed aside, The bomb at Ankara killing over 100 was quickly forgotton as well, it makes no sense really why some atrocities get more of a reaction than others.
It does make some sense though. Paris carried a greater impact because of the shock of it happening on European soil in a country that has been stable and peaceful for decades. It's also a country that, for the vast majority of us, we're likely to have more affinity with and feel closer to than Ankara or Beirut. It's true that much worse violence goes on everyday in Syria, Iraq etc. and that worse violence has occurred in Lebanon, Gaza and other countries but its exactly because the violence is so frequent there that it feels like another world to us, it's very hard to comprehend. Going to a rock concert or drinking at a bar on a Friday evening we can comprehend. There's more a feeling that that could have been us who went out to enjoy the start of the weekend and somehow ended up at the centre of a deadly terror attack.

Our skin tone? Last time I checked Russians were white!
I didn't say they weren't!
The post I quoted didn't mention Russians, maybe I should just state for clarification other white Europeans then?
I think the Russian plane bomb did provoke quite a big outpouring of sympathy. Like you pointed out though Cherie, it wasn't clear in the days after what had caused it whereas the Paris attacks unfolded in front of our eyes and indeed the operation still goes on with all of us watching: it's still not clear if the mastermind has been caught or is still out there. You're right there is plenty to associate with in the attack on Rusia which is why that bomb has in turn got more coverage than the Ankara attack did. Fact remains that the Paris attack took place on our doorstep though, on European soil, whereas Egypt might be a popular holiday destination but it has battled Islamist insurgency for decades.
No one death is more tragic than the other but I don't think there's any agenda behind the coverage that different attacks get or the impact that it has on people. Such things are dependent on a number of different, complicated factors, it's a bit simplistic to reduce it down to a death toll and conclude a lack of sympathy for Russian citizens by that.

Col Richard Kemp, the former head of the international terrorism team at the UK's Joint Intelligence Committee, tells BBC News events in and around Paris over the past few days underline "the real seriousness of the problem that France faces".
President Hollande was right to say the country was at war, he adds, and the conflict needs to be "fought like a war".
Talking about actions in Syria and Iraq, he says Western countries will not be able to defeat so-called Islamic State from the air alone - ground action will be needed too.
And he adds that France and its allies need to destroy IS or accept they will become a world power for years to come.

I think the Russian plane bomb did provoke quite a big outpouring of sympathy. Is anyone surprised by an attack though I just wonder what has taken them so long to attack a football ground and a music venue  maybe it was the brutality of the attacks that have resonated, gunning people down one by one in a music hall is pretty grim, we are used to bombs on planes I guess

I think you're misunderstanding my point, that being terrorist activity in other parts of the world, as mentioned in MTVNs post earlier...
'It's also a country that, for the vast majority of us, we're likely to have more affinity with and feel closer to than Ankara or Beirut. It's true that much worse violence goes on everyday in Syria, Iraq etc. and that worse violence has occurred in Lebanon, Gaza and other countries but its exactly because the violence is so frequent there that it feels like another world to us'.
I was not talking about the French or the Russians, I was agreeing with MTVN, that those who have shared norms, values and skin tone... other white Europeans receive our grief in the main as opposed to the rest of the world.

:laugh2: You are on form today Cherie.
..I can only speak for myself with this and the comparison of the two... in the Paris attack, we were watching it live, many of us were and yes, obviously the whole attack and loss of life was shocking but it was also the hostage situation, which went on for several hours and trying to imagine how those people were feeling, how terrified they would be and also their families, friends who knew that they had gone to the concert..so it was like feeling it with them, not the same or nearly the same obviously but it wasn't an after event, it was something that was happening and unfolding before our eyes and a section of a city in terror...for me personally and how I related to it all, was that I had walked past those places and down those streets, stayed around 100 yards from where some people had been killed and when it's a familiar place I think that's a factor as well and I also have a niece who lives in Paris with her boyfriend so my thoughts were for their safety as well until I knew that they were ok.../but I don't think that I felt any differently about the loss of life or the families in the 'after' of Paris either as I did with the passengers and their families ...

Isn't the whole point about the lack of an outpouring of grief and international condemnation of the Russian plane bomb purely because it took a week or so, if not more, to 100% determine that it even was a bomb? I certainly recall the initial reports being "experts can't rule out a technical fault" rather than anything to do with terrorism.
Either way I find the whole "comparing acts of terrorism and tragedy" thing a tad perverse and sad.

Telegram, a privacy-minded messaging app that has been taken up by Isis militants, has blocked dozens of “Isis-related channels”, the company has announced.
The startup has been criticized in recent weeks for its use by extremists, and on Tuesday its founder, exile Russian tech mogul Pavel Durov, said: “I think the French government is as responsible as Isis for this, because it is their policies and carelessness which eventually led to the tragedy.”
In a Facebook post under a photo himself in Paris, Durov went on to blame “shortsighted socialists who ruin this beautiful place”.
“They take money away from hardworking people of France with outrageously high taxes and spend them on waging useless wars in the Middle East and on creating parasitic social paradise for North African immigrants.
It is a disgrace to see Paris in the hands of shortsighted socialists who ruin this beautiful place. I hope they and their policies go away forever and this city will once again shine in its full glory .”

Much has been said about the asymmetry of western grief, which weeps for Paris and shrugs at blasts in Beirut or Baghdad. But that is not the only disparity in the way the east and west reacts in the face of terrorist attacks. When terror strikes the west, it is rare that just tears flow. The blood of those we bomb flows, too.
Like many, I shed tears for Paris. I have lived there and spent much of the weekend grieving with friends who know and love the city. But our grief was interrupted by a declaration of what French president François Hollande called a “pitiless war”. Blood was being demanded.
Hollande said: “Terrorism will not destroy the Republic, because the Republic will destroy it.”
His first statement is correct. Terrorism will not destroy France; Isis’s black flag will never fly over the Assemblée Nationale. As foreign policy expert Stephen M Walt recently argued in Foreign Affairs, Isis neither has an ideology contagious enough to topple stable governments through popular revolution, nor the firepower to spread its ideas through conquest. Isis, in other words, poses no existential threat to the western world.'
Is this true?

In an ideal world its probably true, but the reality is quite different. The problem being that if ISIS penetrated a western democracy to any level, it would disband the concepts of what democracy is all about. People just wouldn't have the opportunity to voice there opinion as any opposition would be summarily wiped out.

I just tried to find the article with no success. Apparently she was raised in kids homes and with foster parents in Paris and had little contact with her mum. It also sounds like her childhood was full of violence and as an adult she had quite a hollow existence.
Now before someone jumps in and suggests I'm sympathising, I'm not; lots of adults have been through traumatic childhoods and grew up to remain decent human beings. What I think in this case is, she's a perfect example of someone who gets easily radicalised. Radicalization to people like her give them a sense of belonging.

The same comments could apply to the actual woman though, I'm going to remove some posts here, I don't want people thinking that first woman was the bomber
Thank you for sorting my Error

I just tried to find the article with no success. Apparently she was raised in kids homes and with foster parents in Paris and had little contact with her mum. It also sounds like her childhood was full of violence and as an adult she had quite a hollow existence.
Now before someone jumps in and suggests I'm sympathising, I'm not; lots of adults have been through traumatic childhoods and grew up to remain decent human beings. What I think in this case is, she's a perfect example of someone who gets easily radicalised. Radicalization to people like her give them a sense of belonging.
I get what your saying, she must have desperately wanted somewhere to belong though to give up her life for it :/

I haven't seen any other reports but if you read this one, it does make you wonder if she blew herself up.
Towards the bottom of the article she is drawn towards the door of the apartment and appears to be giving herself up. She doesn't display her face but she's told to keep her hands up, which the article says she does. The police tell her they are going to open fire (that's confusing because why would they tell her that?) and then she blows up.
Sounds to me like she was wearing a bomb belt and the police open fired on her and triggered the explosives. That, or someone within the flat held the trigger and exploded her but it doesn't sound like she was in any position to explode it herself at the moment of the blast.
Have a read and see what you think.

I get what you're saying too Red - and no, I don't regard this as 'sympathising' with terrorsists, just analysing one possible reason for her becoming a terrorist.

Well, all my previous comments are obviously for the evil bomber and not the heavenly saint waitress. Wow, like being a waitress isn't hard enough, now she's saving lives.

it does seem strange that she has a very western lifestyle, and she drank and went to night clubs, and dressed up like any girl in the west, and had lots of boyfriends, but I doubt that they are white french men, because white french men wouldn't touch an arab woman with a barge pole, thats what most of them told me, I think she might of been forced into it, I don't know how but I think she was forced on the plank of wood on the ship at knife point,

....hmmmm. I don't think that it does seem strange, not to me anyway..the same with Jihidi John and the beheadings..it's not only a message of saying 'we are among you, so be terrorised'..but also a 'mocking' thing...we even have you killing yourselves....and with suicide bombers like this, well you're completely dispensable, you've served your purpose/we so easily radicalised you/you've killed/goodnight...

To be honest most Muslims and Arabs who profess to hate the western decadent lifestyle and abhor alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling seem to seek out and indulge in those very things to excess when they are temporarily freed from the shackles of their death religion.
Utter hypocrisy in the extreme proving that they have no real interest in their religion only the aspects that deal with death, murder, hate and torture...

the problem is that the eu is a false dream, that even the leaders have a thinking that, says nobody turns their back on paradise, because in europe their is no war or disease, and know one is going hungry, the eu is like the federation from star trek, because the reasons why they put refugees first, is that, they want countries like iraq, syria, and lebanon, to be members of the eu state, and the europhiles want an open door with no borders, because these countries have a population that will replace the current in europe, but it has backfired, because they thought by throwing candy, most will support the eu, when they set foot, one thing that is for sure, the open door policy will kill are paradise, because the governments in the eu where the one's that gave weapons to these people to overthrow a secular country.
