View Full Version : Why is BB12 so bad?
I've never seen it - but it seems hated on here. I was just curious as to why it's so bad?

Literally nothing interesting happens
A lot of things happen, just nothing you'd have any interest or investment in because the cast is full of vapid, unlikable people
Pete.

And the girls get culled immediately
Editing etc aside the production's perfectly fine (so the problem's almost a reverse from what it is now), and if you want an example of how BB12 was produced but with a good cast then look no further than BB13
Jason.

- Unappealing cotton-candy TOWIE presentation.
- Trashy and gaudy feel and quality to the show.
- Dull, vapid, fame-hungry, trashy cast. All aged between 18-30.
- Boring series.
Same goes for CBB8.

Well Aaron was the worst winner ever for me i could not stand the twat, Faye was totally insipid , bananagate was the only noteworthy happening in Dullsville that year

Nothing happens of any interest unless you care about a dull romance and like Aaron who at the time was possible my worst ever housemate bar Dennis, just trash in every way. Somehow Aaron is a legend for winging and moaning, Maysoon was better entertainment.

The first 3 weeks aren't that bad, and Jem made it slightly entertaining when she was there but at the end of the day one woman can't carry the show (unless you're Charley Uchea of course).
Heaven and Jem are the only good things to come out of BB12. Tashie too but she left too soon.

I could have bought what Jem was saying if she wasn't such a sulking misery herself. Honestly about 95% of Jem's fan-base is down to her not liking Aaron and the other 5 for bickering with Faye from time to time.

Tbh at the time I actually quite enjoyed it, much better than bb15/16 plus I managed to watch the whole thing without feeling bored to death/annoyed to death. Maybe it was because I was younger and hadn't watched bb that much that it was still new to me.

It was way too showmance driven, and it did just become the Aaron and Jay show, everybody else was just spare parts, it's the same flaws as BB15, only I think that BB15 could've been a lot better as some of the spare parts had potential unlike the BB12 cast.

I think I'm gonna give this a watch. Aaron gets mentioned a lot and seems quite divisive so I want to know if I'd like him or not  Plus I still need to catch up on some CH5 series and if this one really is boring, I don't want to end with it, I'd rather get it out the way.

Not much story line wise but unlike recent series you did get a feel of pretty much all the housemates and I liked/enjoyed watching most of them, it had decent tasks and was consistent. People do the most on BB12 imo like I would deffo rate it higher that bb15 and bb16. One of BB12's main problems was that it was the first launched on c5 and the new look and editing was a shook to the system.

He seems very love/hate though, depending who you ask. I get the impression he's a John James type character, someone who maybe isn't that likeable, but has depth to them, is interesting to watch etc

I've never got the hate though because he was a pretty likeable guy who never really went out to cause arguments. Most people just didn't like him because in week one he was cocky and was talking about playing the game (hated him then). Aaron was one of those people who everyone probably came to the conclusion that he was a sneaky rat because everyone said he was a sneaky rat not because of his actual behaviour.

I loved BB12, the best winner we've had on C5 as well. it wasn't the most drama filled series but it flowed well. From what i can remember Big Brother weren't obsessed with trying to stir things up and cause drama & the tasks were enjoyable. It's definitely different to any of the other C5 series.. the civilians back then were a lot less fame hungry and more of them were fans of the show.

The cast was just a bit all the same really. The young girls faded into one, despite Faye being absolutely lovely. And nothing really of note happens, I don't hate it though and it's better than the demon BB11.

I personally think it is one of the best seasons, and Aaron is the best winner C5 has had. Half the cast suck and they was trying to make it into a Made in Chelsea/Towie show being driven by so many showmances, but I think Aaron and Faye make up for it. I think people say Aaron and Jason from this season had it bad, I think Faye had one of the most emotional experiences the show has seen, I felt so bad for her everything they threw at her.

I think I'll really enjoy that! If a series has people that I enjoy watching just for their day to selves and their interactions, then I really don't care if there are 'events' or memorable moments. I don't remember most of what happened in series 1 for example, but I know I loved watching it... because of its simplicity, and finding the people interesting to watch (even if the things they were doing weren't interesting, if that makes sense). I'd rather that than a series with constant mindless arguments or 'house rocking action' lol that has people I've got no interest in watching.

Heaven keeps the series alive but then it completely dies altogether after Week 3, has a small revival for two or so week in the middle when Jem comes but then dies again soon after she leaves.
It's really dull and it's focused on showmances alot, there's very little fights and the ones that do happen are weak ones, so idk if you'd like that or not.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts when you do and I 100% agree with you. I can't deal with this forced crap anymore, seriously, sending in the "people from their past" BS this year just took the biscuit for me. I think I'm finally done with it all :'(

The highlight of the series was probably the week 2 Heaven v. Rebekah feud (with Heaven winning obviously). There were a few cute background characters like Alex and Tom but after Heaven left there wasn't really anyone to carry the series.

You don't get infracted for supporting someone :nono: anyway even if you did (which you don't *terms & conditions apply) iirc most of us Mods were Aaron fans anyway :fan:
It was an abysmal series with the worst cast in the history of the show aside from a few that I genuinely believe was by more luck than judgment. The whole thing was focused on showmances (in fact the final week was nothing but) and it just all felt cheap and tacky. Plus it had Brian as a presenter and he'd only just started :worry:

I had just started uni so I couldn't really say I wasn't distracted from watching as much as I usually would - we didn't bother getting a tv license either - but I did catch 2 or 3 weeks before I went off for freshers week and it just struck me as superficial, a huge lack of diversity and some of them absolutely revolted me. Marks sense of humour was cancerously awful, Jay and Aden made me want to change my gender and most of the women were utterly inconsequential. Had no interest in watching any more when I left home.

It was a young cast but I don't think it was that TOWIE like really. The girls more so but even then you had people like Rebekah, Jem and Heaven who didn't fit that stereotype. BB12 was probably the series I got most into because like other people have said it did all feel very 'real'. When there were rivalries and fall outs they were natural and not the result of manipulation or housemates deliberately going ott for the cameras. I think the BB12 housemates were some of the most impacted by the whole experience of it as well, I remember Aaron saying that loads of the housemates really struggled after it and that four of them attempted suicide because of the impact it had on their life. Whether that's true or not I'm not sure but the fact that Alex said quite recently that BB ruined her life supports it a bit. Also the fact that apart from Louise and Jay I don't remember any of them trying to continue a career on television or in the public eye.
