I applied last year - via making a 60 second video - and got invited to the audition day in London at Westminster Uni. No agent or representation.
I reached the very last few being considered. I was asked for my measurements, was I allergic to latex (!) sign over my medical records etc, diet requirements...the lot. Met producers, had to do a mock 'diary room' chat.
The day starts with a big crowd which is gradually whittled down. Also auditioning that day through the same process was Pie Face, Joel and Eileen (possibly others who I didn't spot).
I don't think having an agent is vital - it's more about being original, true to yourself, and keeping the producers interested

I googled the places the Twitter says they're going to, and none of them mention Big Brother on the websites or Twitter. One of them has an events schedule (http://www.revenge.co.uk/events/), and BB isn't even mentioned.

Hmm it's just they messaged me last week for my contact number and email address and said casting will get in touch (basically I wouldn't have to apply online and would go straight to auditions). The followers on their Twitter include official Channel 5 profile and past housemates/celeb housemates.

I bow to some of the info above. While the official Channel 5 BB auditions page says filling in their form is the ONLY way to apply, that doesn't seem to be the case. I've chatted with someone from BB today and they are visiting various towns and cities looking for potential candidates. Ads in paper, social media etc. These interviews will be brief - 10 mins or so. If you get through this stage you get a chance in Manchester or London. And it's still a very slim chance. My BB source tells me they will be taking FEWER people through to Manchester and London, so they have a longer opportunity to size up a candidates personality, weaknesses and strength.

I guess there are, as you say, posters and adverts in local papers in Brighton, but there's nothing online about it that I can find, apart from the Tweet. I wish the info was easier to find. Though I did find a site from early Feb last year saying they were going to Leicester, which is localish to me.

I guess there'd be no harm in going in to one of the sessions as well as my sent in video :p

Now that I know to look, it's quite easy to find at least four of the events. I wonder if it's a bit unfair that they're not advertised on the BB Auditions site though, which says uploading a video is the only way to apply?
Heh, I guess they want as few people as possible to go to them.

I'd probably go in wearing a two t-shirts/a t-shirt under my shirt, and two sets of underwear, in case there's a "twist" where the suitcases aren't given immediately :p

Haha, I'd probably wear a t-shirt with an open shirt over it, that's quite stylish :p and a vest, people wear vests!!
