View Full Version : Small changes you'd like to see in the summer?

With rumoured "big changes" to Big Brother set to be happening in the summer, this thread is for the smaller details that you'd like to see be changed (like with graphics, house design, editing, live shows etc).
I'll start. I'd like to see Emma getting a cold open on each live show (rather than the OTT clip that we always get at the top of the show with a shouty Marcus Bentley). It should also use the classic opening bed - NOT the loop that they use in the warning screens.

Just cut down on the VTs/montages in general to be honest. We don't need a minute long trailer every night telling us what we're about to see and ruining the programme. I almost feel like I don't need to watch it by the time the credits roll.
Agree with everything so far. I'd like the eviction results to be done from a studio from now on. It makes the game a lot more interesting.

No more nametags after the first two weeks. They're good in the first few weeks of the show because you're still remembering everyone's name but once you know who all the housemates are it's just unnecessary. It would also be nice if they were made to suit the rest of the graphics again (like in Power Trip).

Housemates arriving in cars/vans/bikes
Big Brother telling the housemates to leave and doing the '10, 9, 8...' as they're leaving not at the top of the stairs.

One song in the background during VTs, HM Best Bits, and End of Series Best Bits like C4 did, unlike the trashy dubstep montage tunes they have nowadays.
Get rid of that bloody siren during eviction nights too. It's too loud that you can't hear the crowds reaction once the door slides open.

Yes!! This has to come back. Marcus ruins so many evictions that would otherwise be quite tense and atmospheric.

yes the Siren thing needs to get evicted itself :hmph: like they are not breaking out of prison, they are getting evicted

Marcus to lose his voice. Permanently.
zakman440

They need to switch the tension theme back over so that it plays when the evicted housemate is leaving and not over the eviction announcement.
Greg!

Play the tension music as someone leaves the house and tell Marcus Bentley to calm his tits and stop screaming
Marcus to lose his voice. Permanently.
We'd just end up with another over the top narrator only one that hadn't narrated all of the most iconic moments in BB history.

Marcus can actually be quite funny very occasionally when he says things in a deadpan non over the top way.
Example "it's been 32 minutes since Tiffany thought she heard Angie tell her that David Gest is dead"
But I hate when he says stuff like "John is stuuuuuuurrrrrin up trouble in da bedrooooom"
If they're going to stick music over the evictions, at least try and make it vaguely funny/relevant to the housemate in question

I'd actually love our version of Big Brother to have a dedicated voice actor instead of a producer talking in the VOG booth. Leon Murray (who voices Aussie BB) was brilliant at having fun with the housemates and being stern at the same time - something like that would be quite effective over here.

I literally hate how sarcastic he sounds when he's reading out the voting terms on eviction nights. In fact, I just hate how patronising he is on eviction nights in general. Marcus just needs to stay away from the live shows.

Big Brother doing the "You have been evicted" announcement, NOT Marcus.
Emma having a weekly cold open like Davina.
Weekly full nominations.
No more than 5 finalists (but ideally 4 or less).
And no, I'm not deluded enough to think any of this actually will happen.
Jason.
09-02-2016, 10:28 PM
Also, Emma to do the voting T&C instead of Marcus. Emma did them for BB14, so idk why they've made Marcus do them since CBB13 onwards.
Ik it's trivial but Marcus is only the narrator so all these small parts he has now need to go as they're not needed.
He can be way over the top, but I find the Marcus hate on here really OTT sometimes
Jason.
09-02-2016, 10:36 PM
I only find the "get rid of Marcus" posts OTT, because lbr without him it's not BBUK. He's the voice of it. But he just needs to tone down and go back to how he was in the C4 days. He has become a caricature of himself

Put everyone with 2 or more nominations up to keep it consistent.
Obviously I would prefer smaller evictions but C5 love having like 6 people up every week so they might as well just officially change the rules instead of jumping back and forth between 3+ up and 2 or more noms (And the other random formats that they make up to get certain Housemates nominated).

I actually love the fact that our 'Big Brother' has lots of different voices- it reinfroces the fact the BB isn't a character, but more of a concept.

Was the C4 format all the Housemates who have the top two amounts of nominattion faced the public votes? If that makes sense?
Marsh.

I just want Marcus scaled back to his old job of narrating the highlights and that's it.
It's not the most important change but his "Please welcome your host" and countdown on the eviction are two moments I want to punch my TV.

Yep. It was always the two or more housemates with the most nominations, except for when there was a twist.
Of course now we have twists every damn week.
Jason.

On C4 it was the two or more housemates with the most nominations face the public vote.
So for example
A - 5 nominations
B - 4 nominations
C, D, and E - 3 nominations
F - 2 nominations
On C4 only A and B would've probably only been up, but on C5 they'd also put up C, D, and E.

Pretty mch what I thought :) and I think A and B could both account for several people? Like, if Mildred and Mavis both got 5, and Myron and Gladys had four, they'd be A and B respectively and all be up?

To reveal eviction percentages. This can be done on either BOTS or at the end of the series

No. On channel 4, it would just be Mildred and Mavis that faced eviction. (Two or more housemates with the most).
They'd only move onto the next tier if say person A got 5 noms and then persons B, C and D all got 4. Then all four of them would face eviction.

This^, so much. The finale was so cringey with the dancers and people in stilts and people juggling on the stairs while housemates were leaving the house. It's just not necessary at all!!

I hope that they fix the break bumpers (short one for going out to a break, long one for coming back) - it was an unnecessary change to make and should be taken back to how it has been for over 10 years.

Scrap the crowd except on launch night, normal nominations at least every other nomination process.
Vote to save in place of vote to evict.
Those long sometimes overnight tasks they had to do before as well, where they had to take turns.

Davina was BBUK too.
He's gone from one of the shows strongest assets to one of it's biggest problems - I just physically cannot watch the show (or even a trailer) anymore when he pipes up - he's that annoying. It's a complete parody of himself and hence comes across as fake - it started in the latter C4 years but got worse when the tone of the scripts was changed for C5 with Marcus giving opinions rather than stating facts (i.e. "Steph and Tiffany are in the bathroom" became "Steph and Tiffany are bitching in the bathroom".)
The show doesn't actually need that much narration, especially now they insist on captioning the housemates throughout the series. It is usually much better when we see housemates explaining tasks to each other rather than Marcus telling the viewers - though sadly nowadays task reveals see producers decide who does what rather than housemates fighting it out for themselves. (The BB5 wedding task is a good example - nowadays producers would just make Michelle and Stu bride and groom to fit in with their storylines but the real drama came from the HMs deciding amoungst themselves that they wouldn't go the obvious route, much to Michelle's disgust.)

The wedding task :flutter: You're 100% right though, the best results come from when the HMs decide amongst themselves.
