On snapchat, Comedy Central has just launched their Discover page and MTV has had one for quite a bit. However on the Comedy Central one there was adverts showcasing their shows so I'm wondering if there's a possibility BB will be advertised on there or if there's a chance of C5 getting a discover channel?

Tbh at this point its not how much advertisement we're getting, its how its being approached. With the exception of people who are already casual or regular viewers, the ads don't really bring any attention to the show. It's just a couple of cogs moving with Marcus screaming some ridiculous tagline. BB14s promos were well made. The ad with Emma was well made, even the CGI adverts running alongside drummed up interest with the "#WhatsTheSecret" thing, since then all of the ads have been pointless except maybe the CBB15 one.

They need to branch out to YouTube advertising

I think the Timebomb advert was a YouTube advert on the day of the launch

The CBB17's advert was very effective.

They only need the eye, Marcus non shouty and the theme to make a good successful BB advert. They don't even need Emma.

Adverts on ITV during the BGT final week would be the best idea.

They need tube adverts, bus stop ect and a promo on ITV in the days before hand... Twitter is good but social media isn't enough it only reaches people who already watch it

I think silhouette adverts of the housemates with quotes at bus stops would be pretty cool in the days close to launch then like the eye with the date on the tube walls ect and train stations would be pretty cool

That's a good idea actually.

Agree with everything here. Funny that you've mention tube ads - I was randomly browsing the 5Creative Vimeo page the other week and there was a video that featured a tube ad for Timebomb that was apparently meant to be implemented.

Promoting on Snapchat would be good though - it could bring in the younger audience that Channel 5 are craving. Another idea that I actually had was for them to start using Shazammable adverts for the summer with a link to the app/website - it could perhaps lead to higher app downloads whilst reminding viewers when the show launches at the same time.

You tweeted a pic btw
I don't think Shazam is a very good advertising move nowadays imho, it usually gets lost in the audience.

I've updated my post with the Secrets and Lies one that I've made now :).

I wouldn't say that it's a bad way of advertising tbh - if for example they did show a Shazamable ad during the BGT Final week then it could serve a double purpose - reminding viewers that the show is coming soon and encouraging them to get involved with the app.

I almost forgot how exciting and interesting the lead up to BB14 was, and the #whatsthesecret campaign

I think just adverts on other channels would help, with billboard ads scattered around the whole country (main cities, inc Cardiff pls), and getting Emma interviews on the main morning shows (although will end up being Rylan).

The cbb15 promo was amazing. The TV advert was really well made and I heard the radio advert all the time

I don't think any amount of promo through any source would do any good unless there are real changes to entice people back. It would take a lot to convince me to come back to the show - starting with axing Marcus Bentley and a completely new production team.

I think a new format would have to be announced prior to the series beginning too as the show just doesn't have one at the moment - "Producers invent twist and change rules to decide who is up for eviction each week" isn't a format. Indeed the only interesting eviction of CBB was the one where they actually played by the traditional rules, leaving three major but different characters up for eviction.

Marcus doesn't need axing he needs toning down and demoted to just do some of the narration but NOT evictions, launch shows and finals and also NOT to say things to try and make BB hip.

Or just axing :laugh2:

It's not rocket science.

Just don't have cheesy ads with Marcus screaming. A simple ad, maybe something like Black Friday ad for BB5 Launch/Last ever Friends episode. Just maybe like that, or maybe with the BB music.

Billboards and advertise it during BGT's final and Corrie/Emmerdale. Done.
