For around 5 days.

[Macedonian police have fired tear
gas after migrants and refugees
broke through a gate on
the country's border with Greece.
Thousands of people have been
stuck on the Greek side
of the border as Macedonian
officials allow only a trickle
of people through each day.
Frustration boiled over on
Monday, with a few hundred people
breaking through the gate,
chanting "open the border"
and throwing stones at
Macedonian police,
according to reports.]

Where should they go? if it were your family, what would you do, sit tight and hope a bomb doesn't hit you, or ISIS doesn't take your kids to further their propaganda, or rape your wife...?

I don't have anything against people making a better life for themselves if they are prepared to work for it.

Plenty Macedonians have emigrated for a better life :idc: A few years back when the Poles went to Ireland there was a big outcry from some about them taking jobs (that nobody wanted basically), I aways found that incredible from a country that has been exporting people since the famine.

Macedonia are within their rights to try and exert control over this influx: demanding that borders be opened, throwing stones at police and breaking down fences is not an appropriate response. What are they supposed to, allow hundreds of thousands of undocumented people to stream through only for them to then get stuck at the next border? Austria don't want too many, Sweden is bringing back controls, even Germany are neither able or willing to take every migrant that arrives. If prosperous Western and Northern European countries can't cope then what do people expect from small and struggling countries like Macedonia and Greece?

Dont you know how many syrian people are in turkey? There are A LOT trust me.

This is not only turkeys job this is A world problem everyone should put their hand on this but the way the world deals with this problem is the reason all these happening. İt has been years now it is obvs syria cant deal with this on their own other countries should do something about it. You cant end the problems just by opening borders you have to do something bigger.

Also i am really sad for the people in syria for suffering this but i am also sad for the countries who have to suffer as well just because a country cant put itself together.

The tear gas was fired because the migrants broke down the fence with a battering ram and the police were about to be mobbed, in that instance I think it was appropriate. Those migrants with children should surely have been keeping them well back from border clashes with police.

In theory yes, but weren't the Macedonians letting a trickle through, so I guess you had your place in crowd with people in front and behind so maybe hard to get out of the way. You have a hard heart MTVN :hmph:

According to the Daily Mail, "Greek police say there could be up to 10,000 people — mostly Syrian and Iraqi refugees — stuck at the country's Idomeni border crossing now in deteriorating conditions." It goes on to say that children are becoming sick because of the unsanitary living conditions.

Its time America took more responsibility for this crisis they created.

Deny it all you want but Washington's fingerprints are all over this tragedy.

Syrians, Iraqis, Libyans, Afghans, South Asians—one way or another, directly or indirectly, immediately or at a slight remove, they are all victims of the policies through which the Western powers have sought over centuries to impose their will upon weaker people they thought worth disrupting, subjugating and exploiting.

Where is the land that huddles behind the Statue of Liberty in all this, the nation of immigrant populations? As close to nowhere as it can manage. In my estimation, the denial of history among Americans will prove much harder to overcome as the non-West and the South flee the calamities we have done so much to make.

Is there an end date like there was with other colonial countries? like Turkey, the Ottoman empire seems to have been forgiven for their centuries of atrocities. What about Romans, don't they take any blame? or China or Egypt?

OK but that answer doesn't fit with the question I asked.

I asked how long do we (The West) have to keep taking the blame? and Is there an end date when we (The West) stop taking the blame?

This crisis is still ongoing. There is nothing to forget and its certainly too early to forgive. When a humanitarian crisis is in full swing, as it is now, its important that we understand how that crisis came about because understanding may touch us with a tiny ounce of compassion and whilst we have compassion, we will strive to find solutions.

I don't know what the answer is, all I know is, they are a displaced people, they are my fellow human beings and I hope and wish they find peace and comfort for themselves and their families.

That's very admirable of you, which I'm sure comes from your Western culture.

But I'd hazard a guess that the majority of them don't hope and wish the same for you.

I believe that the majority of People coming in from The Middle east and Asia have very little if anything culturally in common with The West, and I believe that they have no intention of embracing our culture and values but rather striving to impose their own on us all.

I have no problem with the people, I have a problem with their culture and values.

That's my opinion on an issue.

You personally insinuated that I have some kind of phobia to foreigners, I think you did that because you wanted to make yourself look better than me.

Well your new avatar probably gives the wrong impression? I mean, Alf Garnett has to be one of the most bigoted, anti Irish, racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic man who was ever let loose on our television screens.

I think Macedonia should be commended to be honest, they've been left to fend for themselves and aren't part of the European family of nations, they could easily have just done nothing and let these people head north-west.

If you want me to be your bigoted, xenophobic, racist subject then I don't mind if it pleases you, I aim to please, if you need that to prove how much of a better person than me you are then I'll be your subject, after all if your're the one calling me the bigot then that excuses you from being one doesn't it.

Macedonia Minister was live on Ch4HD News, last night,
he said they still want to join the EU,
to become a full member,
but he has tried to send 600 or so Afghans
onto the next nation
who then sent them back?

Only Syrians are let through.
