Celebrity Big Brother is planning a controversial change to the upcoming series that’ll see the stars living with ‘regular’ housemates.

The infamous house will be split in two this May, with half of it being occupied by famous faces and half of it with normal every day folk.

A Channel Five insider tells Now: ‘We’re planning on really mixing up the regular series this time by chucking in a load of celebs too and splitting the house up. The producers have been approaching people from Gogglebox, TOWIE and Ex On The Beach and have some great names lined up.’

The source also adds: ‘There has been some behind the scenes conflict as to whether the celebrities will be getting paid as the regular housemates won’t have any kind of fee. Some are happy to appear for free to raise their profile, but some are being quite demanding.’

This isn’t the first time Big Brother has tried this. In 2007, Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack was created to boost ratings, then in 2010, memorable contestants from Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother appeared in Ultimate Big Brother.

Rumoured stars set to take part so far are Gogglebox’s Stephen Webb and Chris Steed, X Factor’s Lauren Murray, Union J’s Jaymi Hensley. It’s also been reported that Ben Innes, the 26-year-old that went viral after taking a selfie the EgyptAir hijacker, has also been approached – along with 23-year-old convicted drug mule Michaella McCollum, who became a national talking point as one half of ‘the peru two.’

I think it was inevitable. As much as a lot of us would like BB to return to how it was at it's peak it's been drifting further and further away from that for years. A BB/CBB/towie type hybrid sounds awful but it isn't much of a surprise.

If they done BBUK like we wanted and expected, THEN had this twist for summer CBB (so adding some regular housemates to the usual summer CBB lineup) like what NOW sort of means, I'd be happy. That would be a cool twist on CBB, like Chantelle on a bigger scale.
But absolutely no way should they do this twist in BBUK..

If VTS is used then the celebs will just cruise to the end, so this is flawed in that sense. I doubt this will even be a thing because we have 2 months+ until BB and this is just mere speculation (or have the producers confirmed it idk)

I've had a thought, BBUK has has housemates that are a bit known in the media for the last few years- ie Dexter, Gina, Helen and Zoe. It's a weird one because as much as we want it to go "back to basics"/we just want normal people in a house with normal nominations and a few twists here and there, I don't think it would work? I don't think anything will save the civ edition (if we're judging it's success on ratings anyway) it's kinda dead now so after thinking about it a little I don't really care that they might be doing this twist, it's not like the celebrities will be anyone significant anyway if we're getting drug mules and terrorist selfie guy. Yeah, I'd imagine they're happy with any publicity they can get so even if it's not true they probably wouldn't want to deny it and stop the attention the show's getting, so their 'no comment' doesn't mean anything either way in my opinion.

This isn't just coming from the rumours, then the 'no comment' when asked. Sources from the show have actually leaked it to others, including the press sites, it looks pretty much guaranteed.
