No difference there then, you have to be on the electoral roll for any vote.
As there are local council elections etc shortly most people interested will already be registered.

It's b..... unfair. They say I can't vote because I've been living outside of Britain for over 15 years, but I'm still a British citizen with a British passport and I live in Europe.

How is that unfair? I assume you vote in Denmark so why should you have two votes especially when you don't live here, I can't vote in Irish elections and I wouldn't want to I don't pay my taxes in Ireland or live there so why should I have a say in their affairs, I do have a sought after Irish passport though as do my English kids :hee:

It's unfair because I have no vote at all. I can vote for local elections here in Denmark and for who I want to represent the EU from Danish candidates, but I can't vote in Danish national elections or decide if Britain stays or goes.
As for taxes, I receive a small OAP pension, which I pay tax on.

I assume I am already registered to vote since I've received my polling card for the 5th May elections? Can't wait to vote us out of this EU mess http://i.imgur.com/akqMcKV.png?1

So effectively you have no vote in either country which is incredibly unfair

There's an election for the Police and Crime Commissioners on 5th May. Hope everyone's registered for that. Last time the turnout was about 18%.

I think so Cherie. I'm in a No Mans Land when it comes to voting and no-one I've spoken to about it, either in Britain or Denmark has been able to offer a solution. I could vote for national elections in denmark if I took Danish citizenship, but no way am I giving up my British passport.
