View Full Version : Should BB be more app interactive?

Should BB follow suit of the X Factor and now Love Island's app and be more interactive with polls, opinions and trivia things popping up during the live show? They did start to do this during BB14/CBB12 with the separate game app but imo the app should be more interactive during the show. (Also free voting is a must)

100% yes. All of ITV's apps are developed by Tellybug (http://www.tellybug.com/) - a company that specifically makes apps for TV shows. If Channel 5 brought them on board and stuck a live feed on there, the app would be so much better.

They could probably function with free voting as I figured that BB Canada isn't as big as Big Brother UK but doesn't even have voting yet it has a really nice house and good production. They'll always profit from paid voting though so they'll never give it up and the reason why thry don't have app voting anymore is that they can't really afford free voting and it's embarrasing to have to pay for app votes while every other show by now has it free.
I love it when they do things like speaking to the audience and family members. Dunno if that counts haha.

Yes.
I mean if they are going to alienate the older and hardcover fans. Then surely their 'we only care for new younger viewers' means they should do what Love Island is doing. They did a Snapchat filter today. Millions use Snapchat. It's fantastic promo.
But at the moment, C5 are doing nothing for younger or hard-core viewers.

Absolutely, and we could do with the five free votes thing too, although as someone else said they probably wouldn't dare as they need the revenue.
The embarrassing website desperately needs overhauling too, and they should look to BBCan's previous offerings for inspiration (this year wasn't as good). Slick designs, lots of content, a game in which you can earn points for watching videos/reading blogs etc which can then be used to increase the weight of your vote in polls which affect house events. A genius idea. Oh, and obviously live feeds!
For all C5's talk of how 'social media is the way' and that's what viewers care about, the stuff they offer is so piss poor :joker:

It's a great point. I think their target audience is 16-24 year olds. There's so much more they could be doing to get a larger percentage of that audience imo.

Exactly.
I think they are targeting 16-18 year olds tbh. I'm 23 but I consider myself an older fan because I have been watching BB since 2001... yes I was 8.

Free votes would be amazing :flutter:
Which british reality shows have that?

Most ITV reality shows. X Factor & I'm a Celeb have used it most prominently but Love Island have started using it now. Strictly has used it for a while now too.

They really need to pull their finger out.
Love Island started with 825,000 last night, around 300,000 up on the year before, so the promo for them really worked.
So, apps, posters and Snapchat filters are the way to go nowadays.

What's the fuss about Love Island? Never watched it and it's being mentioned here a lot...
Isn't it a crap competition take on Ex on the beach or something? Thick 20-something being stupid and shallow in bikini MTV style?
Is it really a thing?

Well, last year it was averaging 500k-600k and grew throughout, this year already started with 825k, and yes, I think it is "a thing" now.

Love Island was far better than Big Brother last year and I'm not even sorry
Yes it's a tacky ITV2 reality show but it was far better produced and played out much better than BB16 did
Love Island sucks, I tired watching it last night and switched off before it ended, I don't get what's to love.

Watched Love Island last year but got bored and stopped after the first few days, I watched it last night but once everyone was introduced I got bored again and switched off. They did really well to advertise it though, unlike BB. I haven't even seen a single advert on the TV yet? Only know about it from here and from Facebook, they need to pull their finger out!

Judging Love Island on its first few days is exactly the same as judging a series of Big Brother on its first few days - stupid and pointless.
Most people who watched last year's series in its entirety will tell you how good it was. I wasn't expecting to like it, but it turned out great and most definitely was better than BB16.
