The thing is, there are so many signs of a second house being there.
There are 18 spots in the main house, two staires, the runway between the two houses, and they leaked the house extension prior to the housemates going into hiding.

I agree. It should be kept secret for like a week and then unveil the second house and let the war between the two houses begin. This will be much better. The housemates are not stupid, they know Big Brother and how it works. They know something is up.
