Second house, housemates, twist? Production wise? What are your first initial thoughts about it all.

Really good for me, I am looking at BB differently now so hopefully that makes it more enjoyable for me.
Really good start however.

Same, I think this year I've finally learned not to expect too much so I'm enjoying it for what it is. Can see a lot of improvements already which are great if the standard is kept up with.

Same for me. I genuinely had no high expectations, and was prepared for it to be something a bit different, so I enjoyed it tbh

I mean it wasn't perfect but after last years show, this was a VAST improvement... so far obvs

House/Set/Titles? Amazing
Housemates? Pretty good, best in a while, maybe one of the best casts on C5. Time will tell.
Twist? Meh.
I thought everything was great, except the stupid twist which has put my initial fave (Lateysha) up.

I'm positive about it all apart from Rylan

The launch was brilliant, but I wasn't too keen on the twist. It feels like that "the game has changed" is the new "it's time for a Timebomb" or "you're about to go on a Power Trip" - basically, just the new excuse for them to throw another nominations twist in. I really want them to prove me wrong, but I feel like nothing is really going to change production-wise.

Agreed. We just have to admit it will never be what it used to be, it had it's peak on C4. But this series looks to be a great step forward so far. The Twist is the only thing I wasn't huge on.

Really like the cast despite majority being semi-famous already

Yeah, I like 'normal people' as much as the next guy, but if they are entertaining I couldn't give two ****s tbh.
I like the cast, way better then the previous two series

The game hasn't changed that much. Second house is just like a bigger version of secret rooms from previous series, where the others spy on the rest of the housemates. Targeting is similar to what we had in Power Trip. I'm kinda disappointed on everything tonight, except live show set - which is stunning. And I like the idea of the Others not being an actual housemates, trying to get their place in the main house. That can be interesting. The rest though ruined my hopes of BB17 becoming the best series ever.

lol it's actually annoying me at this point. Rylan two weeks ago 'we're gonna tell you everything next week!' and it was that there were two houses. Rylan a few days later 'we're gonna tell you everything tonight!', when it was the 'the others are coming' trailer. Rylan the other night 'we'll tell you everything on launch!' and here I am and I still don't know anything I ****ing didn't two weeks ago
The problem I have is that it just screams of them being overly secretive like they have been for years which allows them to just manipulate things. I miss the C4 days where us the viewers were actually told what to expect, now we're just as in the dark
Marsh.

The more Emma banged on about the "others" the more I didn't understand.
I'm more confused now than when we just had the trailer to go on.
I'm REALLY excited and I haven't been about civilian BB this much in years. So yeah I guess that means I loved pretty much all of it. The messy stairs at the end though need sorting.

Just repeating dark ominous force and others all night got me nowhere further forward. We don't even know if the nominations were pointless or nah.
Marsh.

It's definitely a case of them testing the waters and not confirming anything so the producers can see who's doing what in there and get to know them in that dynamic a little bit before deciding who the twist is going to benefit.
I thought at least they'd move the nominated housemates into the other house. But no.

I know, Emma literally went 'so they're up for eviction! Or are they?' well no luv how about you tell us whether they are and stop telling us to tune in to ya sh*t show tomorrow you bastad /bonneh

Rylan has another exclusive for us imminently (in 24 hours).
But if he thinks that's going to get me watching his sh*tty show, he can think again.

Because a face to face nomination on the first night and the obligatory launch montage to Now 98 is so much more important Marsh, duh!

I still barely know what the second house looks like and we're definitely not getting pics now
To think they spent all that time and money building it and didn't take pics to show it off. A shambles :bored:
Jack did you like the new chair? Was it worth avoiding the spoilers for?

...in all honesty, no. I actually managed to avoid it completely which I'm proud of and didn't even go on Twitter or Facebook welp but when it appeared on screen I was like 'is that it? :umm2:'
I think it was the camera angle though because I went to search for the pic and as a wide shot it looks much better. It's good and it might grow on me, but I definitely don't think it's anything amazing
Marsh.

I just love how simple yet still quirky it is.
Unlike everything else which is so overproduced.

Yeah tbf the publicity photo of it looks ten times better than it looks on screen. The angle doesn't help I guess
Marsh.

It's a bit like the outside set tbh.
The pictures on twitter from the audience perspective looked cooler than the camera angles onscreen when it was on air.

I felt like Sh*t watching the launch and realizing why I'm wasting my time watching desperados cling to fame.
I MIGHT give it one more chance to see if there is anyone normal at all to root for - Might be Jackson or the older blonde lady "Other"
So far though, I thought the launch was about a 2/10

they shouldnt half-ass this. we have others now, so they should be influential. maybe they could nominate one person a week.
another thought i had is for the public to vote a bottom 6 every week, and lowest goes. it would reset each week. maybe they could do a quasi-veto comp and have one housemate save themselves being an other.
who knows! i just hope they follow through with it.

First impression was that the same psychotic, colour blind set deseigner is still being employed by BB. The housemates, apart from a nucleous of intelligent/interesting personalities, are the usual foul mouthed, empty headed chavs. However, it's early days yet so I'll wait and see.

I love the outdoor set, the tall walls make everything seem bigger in a weird way. Also, no Marcus voice overs
But...
The tacky introduction music remains and the lack of average joe housemates :fist:

I didn't think it was too bad. I was preparing for disappointment but I actually liked the majority of the housemates and they seemed like a decent bunch. I will probably be proven wrong in a few days  The 'Others' seem to be all the nasty douchebags though. The twist still seems lame to me and the constant 'GET READY FOR THE BIGGEST SHAKE UP IN BIG BROTHER HISTORY' is annoying as hell. I hate all these annoying nominations twists. Nominations are my favourite part of the show and we've had about 2 proper nominations in the last 5 series.

The refresh was good.
Titles amazing, exterior set stunning, production/editing style were a vast improvement on the last 5 years. The houses are decent with low ceilings (always important to give it the compound feel), quirky style. And it's great that they've finally gone for the 2 house twist.
But with every housemate VT I just felt more and more disappointed. Model. Geordie Shore Lite. Model. Friend of reality star. Model. Actor/Model. Ex-On-The-Beach reject. Model. There's absolutely nothing to these people. Big Brother's premise and what once set it out from the other reality formats which grew out of it was the fact that real people - the local girl from the chippy, the bloke in the hair salon, the builder - quirky though some might be, were plucked from their obscurities and given the chance of a lifetime. Now BB may as well not exist, because what we've got is Love Island in Borehamwood.
