did natalie have the right to feel uncomfortable with janes' comment ? yes or no (poll and poem) 11.06.16

is this show on repeat

its getting a bit predictable

jayne's views caused some bad beat

because her comments are indefensible.

the lack of empathy

natalie was not bluffing

jayne needs punishing with no sympathy

going to enjoy her suffering.

unaware of surround sound

spacial awareness was non existence

jayne you have lost ground

not helped by your persistence.

will it go to the "tv watch dog"

racist views are tapping like michael flatley

its clearer then this internet blog

i am 100% behind natalie.

..yes of course...the same as Jayne was drawing on her life experiences, Natalie would also be drawing on hers as well...

Don't know how Natalie got passed the psychological tests that BB must carry out before sending people in there....she's over defensive and paranoid and seems to have no coping mechanism for either....her volatile reaction to people is unfriendly and confronting ....she's also extremely selfish...anyone with any empathy for their two new housemates wouldn't create a sh-t storm like that within minutes of their arrival....those poor guys...she's aggressive and bordering very close to being threatening ....needs to go ....soon

No...she only heard half the conversation...
She has a huge chip on her shoulder...so OTT...

I said three days ago that she was extremely stupid to make an enemy in Andrew on day one and that he would take her out like a rifle takes out a pigeon...a battle he will def win....I was told I was dillisional and that Natlie was already winning the battle.....wud seem that's not the case....he's now in the main house and she's isolated herself from her other housemates and, according to the poll on this thread, virtually all of the public ....she's really thick and I hate the thick ones so much

I found the comments to be abit Racist in the sense it was un necessary. Why wasn't the comment "my Mum got abused by a carer" Bring Black into it seems un necessary. She also then followed up with the the fact she got a Black carer from Nigeria "they all are" ....

In the end i think she was doing out the way to make herself look big for being such a great person that she hired a Black person after one slapped her mother but the question is why was the skin color even an issue?

Seemed clear to me she has an issue with color but thinks she deserves credit for rising about it.

A similar comment about gays would have pissed me off

Everyone has the right to their own opinion.

No. The plain answer is no, Jayne did absolutely nothing wrong and Natalie created a ****ing storm in a teacup if anything Jayne was trying to probe a point of how racism is stupid and means a lot to her (in regards to the fact she's strong against it).

Went right off Natalie last night.

Yes she did, but she overreacted in how she dealt with it.

This, you can't really judge whether someone has a "right" to feel a certain way... just because they don't act the way you think they should does not mean they are not entitled to feel the way she did.

Yes, she did overreact but as others as have said, she may have had bad experiences in the past, or simply felt uncomfortable that they were talking about black people as if she wasn't there.

No but it was odd. It was entertaining as well so I won't hold it against her.

I didn't agree with her reaction but if she was offended by it that doesn't make her a bad person an she has the right to feel that way
Should she have reacted that way? Probably not but she did and meh it's fine

Nope, Natalie is not stupid, she is playing the race card when it did not have to be played. The sooner this waste of space is of my screen the better.

Jayne is really quite quite boring
When she is on I feel like snoring
She has no substance she is bland
Of Jayne Im surely not a fan
Natalie is big and brash
And in this instance she was rash
She didn't hear all that Jayne said
So she shouted screamed and just saw red
The point that Jayne was trying to make
Came out ALL WRONG for Heavens sake
But saying that I'm afraid our Nat
Went off the rails we all know that
I guess it gave Jayne some highlight time
I don't believe she crossed the line
Nat should try to control her temper
Cos all of us will sure remember
Her total and utter over reaction
She will slip from her fan base quite a fraction
Saying all this we could lose Jayne
Because she's so boring she's a pain
There might be more to see from Nat
So waterhog I'll leave it at that

Spot on, Firewire!

Jayne's the thick one; she was inarticulate in explaining her story, and, as a previous poster said, brought the issue of skin colour into it unnecessarily.

I cringed at the 'they all are' comment, too, and although I thought it was unwise of Natalie to overreact the way she did, I can understand how she felt she was being patronised.

What was the actual problem?

the fact that jayne said she was black?

I kind of get why she was uncomfortable but she overreacted imo. But she's s good housemate

If she knew exactly what was being said then no I wouldn't say so because Jayne wasn't saying anything even close to being racially offensive.

That said, if she misheard / misunderstood what was being said then that would be more understandable, but she then continued to be a knob about it even when Jayne tried to talk to her one on one about it and explain.

So all in all, I say no.

Jayne didn't bring up skin colour unnecessarily. They were already discussing race and racism and if you'd listened properly to her story, she was saying that her mother was abused by a carer, who was black, and they put down on her file that she didn't do well with black people (i.e. was a racist) and Jayne was explaining that this wasn't the case at all and her mother was nothing like that. She was saying nice things, that she herself had black carers who gave her her life back.

I wonder if the people saying "She didn't need to bring race into it" actually listened to the whole conversation.

This for me, yours and Lostie's post to.

I really hope this isn't the start of Natalie setting out to play a race card in the series.
Get her facts right first.

It was offensive because Natalie was totally excluded from the conversation.

She certainly overreacted but I don't think it's fair to say she was wrong to feel uncomfortable. Nobody knows her background and how raw racial issues may be to her and I think the whole thing was just a big misunderstanding

That said, it was one of the funniest arguments on Big Brother since C5 bought the show so :clap1:

Details should never be self censored when relating an incident. Political correctness is backdoor censorship which is exactly what the I am offended brigade try to pull off

Treasure free speech and put political correctness in the trash can where it belongs.

People who are so easily offended are attention seekers that need to grow up.
