View Full Version : Will the black community be disappointed with Natalie

Seems like the black community is once again represented by an overweight angry black woman. This seems an on going trend and I am sure an unfair representation. The gay community seems to fair much better with more likeable characters.

I never really "got" this whole community nonsense. Maybe it's because I don't live in a city (or even big town) but I don't feel a sense lf community with other gays. They're just ... there, we might be friends or more, we might not.
..I don't think that any housemate represents anything other than themselves and their own character../personality in their time in the house...being in a reality show is a very personal thing../decision, not a community thing...

BB too often casts people to play the same character types we've had in previous shows. That goes for most of this year's cast.

I get frustrated with how black women are represented in the house....why so loud and so aggressive and so unreasonable ? We all know that's not what all women are like so why send in black women who are like that....why not intelligent people with style like the legendary Gina from 3 years ago....she was a fighter and feisty and intelligent with a f-ckin brilliant sense of humor.....Natalie is just not good...not good at all ....

Are white people disappointed in Jayne/Ryan/Chelsea/Laura/Marco for not behaving impeccably last night and not representing white people properly? No
People only cry foul at Natalie because she dared to raise her voice once (!) when Ryan and Charlie have been more vitriolic in the past few days. But people are using this as an excuse to hate her and say she's another angry black woman. Lateshya is largely liked too but no one cares about a mile mannered, funny black woman because that's ~out of character~ for BB. No doubt people will find something to pounce on her too like Adjoa last year and she'll of course be evicted before people who have valid reasons to go. To liken Natalie to Pauline that some people are doing is a bit of a joke too.

Like all the black (or whatever) folks in the country get together regularly and elect people to represent them on TV.

I'm gay and tho that doesn't define me I sure as hell want to see better representations of my sexuality than that little ***** Ryan ...I lived in Germany for years and if every English person in their BB had been an aggressive volatile unreasonable prick I wud def have been pissed off about it....if I was a black guy and every black male housemate was a nob head I wud also def be pissed off about it.

Why for some people do they see the recognition of the black community as Racist ?...what's racist about it ?.....I would have thought no recognition wud be more racist.....other community's embrace their differences ...the Italian community, the Asian community, the Gay community, the Jewish community, the Welsh community.....each one proud of the differences we all have and sharing those differences .....Natalie is the one being racist.....no question...she has a major bad attitude

If the percentages were reversed and there were only two white women each year and each time they were always aggressive, angry and hysterical then I would accuse BB of stereotyping white women to make them all look like idiots ....I think BB stereotype black women and those who say making that observation makes me a racist can jog on

Well someone always has to bring race up atleast a few times a year in here.If there's no actual racism going on like most years then why not call C5 racist.
The truth is that in order to get into that house you have to be atleast a little outspoken or quirky or aggressive or out there in some way.No matter what colour you are.
You might aswell say 'are the quiet reserved community disappointed with Andy?' Since he's the actual minority in there.

The point is white people are not a minority in the house or the UK. So someone who is part of a minority you could say has more of a responsibility to be a good ambassador for that community.

She dared to not like that older lady referencing skin colour constantly throughout the conversation and Natalie dared to react against it and not just sit back like a "good little black girl."
To answer your question no I don't think that the black community should be a shamed of Natalie or Lateysha just yet.
I do think that us white people should want to disassociate ourselves from Laura and Marco though.:joker:

But then they probably wouldn't get in there in the first place as you generally have to really have an outspoken personality to get in there in the first place. No matter your colour.
I don't expect 'the gay community' to be represented by anyone as everyone is different and everyone's their own person, so I'm going to take a wild guess and say that is the same for 'the black community'

If this point is true then Big Brother are creating stereotypes which is not great. I think there have been other black women who have not been like this who were entertaining with out being brash and angry. Makosi springs to mind and i think the black community were happy with this choice.

I think it's a tad reaching to assume people are using it as an excuse to dislike her. From the start she's shown to be pretty stubborn and dismissive of the other housemates opinions, people have valid reason to dislike her that has nothing to do with her skin colour

Oh come on if someone like Georgina (sorry Nicky) behaved in the same way as Natalie she would not be being compared to Pauline or Carole or anyone like that.
Black contestants full stop seem to get put under much more scrutiny than the white or Asian Housemates and it's really unfair.
I mean just look at BB5 where Victor only opened his mouth against the annoying twat, and he ended up catching up on Jason and being evicted ahead of him when Jason had been disgusting all series.:umm2:

Not for me Mock, and I'm sure many others are the same - if someone like Georgina reacted in the same way as Natalie and was so awful to Jayne when she apologised I'd feel EXACTLY the same way.
And I loved Victor and hated Jason....:hee:

Oh god day 3 and already people are being accused of disliking a hm because if her skin colour.
It's actually become a bit of a joke on here, if you dislike a woman on the show who happens to be black people twist it into you disliking them because of race. Natalie was an idiot last night, she was obnoxious. I for one don't care what race a person is, if they act like a dick I'll call them a dick.

It works the opposite way too. If you like a black woman you're automatically categorised into the "you only like her because she's black!!!" box too.
