As the son of a multi-millionaire, many people wondered why Marco Pierre White Jnr was reduced to joining the latest series of reality show Big Brother.

But I can reveal a reason why he might be in there – he is trying to raise money to pay off debts.

The 20-year-old owes £2,000 to upmarket antiques shop The Client in Kensington, West London.

Owner Dietrich Briese claims that Marco has taken a vintage fur coat, sunglasses and a Cartier watch but has not paid for them.

Dietrich says: ‘He took the items and promised to transfer the money online.

‘He showed me the screen, but he never pressed the “confirm” button. Cunning little child.

‘He told me, “I’m sorting out a lot of money I owe other people, which is why I’m going on Big Brother”, but before he went into the house he called again and told me he has no intention of ever paying me.

‘Once I bumped into him in a smart restaurant called Ciro’s, and Marco told me to order whatever I want and he would pay, as an apology. Then he left and I asked the manager if he was telling the truth.

They said he does have a tab, but they are chasing him to pay it.’ Public school-educated Marco has admitted running up debts with friends and acquaintances all over London.

Celebrity chef Marco Snr, 54, has taken away his son’s debit card to stop him taking money from cash machines.

Marco admitted to spending £250,000 of his father’s money on ‘prostitutes, cocaine and alcohol’ on Friday night’s show.

When Marco Snr declined to spend any more of his hard-earned £25 million fortune to bail out his son, Marco Jnr’s fiancee Kimberley Melville-Smith, 35, arranged for him to enter Big Brother with the help of an old school chum who is an executive producer.

But she may live to regret her decision. On Friday night he was caught on camera kissing housemate Laura Carter, who once had a one-night stand with pop star Justin Bieber.

Kim has hinted that she could be joining Marco in the house as part of one of Big Brother’s infamous plot twists.

Around about his divorce from their mother Marco Senior did hint that he was going to fund sons till they were 21 and then disinherit them from his businesses and wealth and make them stand on own two feet. Looks like he is beginning to carry this out.

it's not CBB so he wouldn't be paid a fee, so to pay off his debt he would either have to win or be paid to be a HM. personally I think the article is a load of crap, although it wouldn't surprise me if some or indeed all the HMs are paid a fee (far and above the 30 quid that normal civilian housemates get)
