lol I'm not reaching in the slightest, I make these same arguments series after series (some of which you've even agreed with in the past) so this shouldn't be news to anybody. I didn't say he was the star of the series because he isn't, but he is one of them and if you think using the voting public as a barometer of who is and who isn't a good housemate is useful, I don't really know what to say tbh

I understand why people hate him as a person, but hateful people make good housemates because they provoke a reaction. Reactions cause discussions and discussions lead to more attention on the show and that can only be a beneficial thing. The only reason this thread exists is because of vote to evict and the awful, illogical voting mentality and patterns it inspires, encouraging people to vote emotively with their hearts rather than their heads

I've already said this cast has plenty of other great housemates so you must have missed that, my point is his eviction will start the yearly BBUK pattern where an integral housemate leaves one after another, and thus eventually the quality of the series will begin to decline. It happens most years and then people complain it's boring and wonder why, I'll be amazed if I'm wrong :laugh:

As a side note, the 'someone will step up to the plate' argument is always so strange to me...like, why take a gamble on a housemate who may or may not deliver (it doesn't always happen) when there's already one that is? Just seems like an unnecessarily risky move to me

Until the 'characters' start going one after the other I don't see your point no matter how long winded you word it.

I wouldn't personally call Marco a character, just a drain - after he goes I won't have to be repulsed by him and Laura prancing around half naked and hear him irritating laugh any longer. There are far better characters getting a barely there edit in favour of him.

andy is an interesting character and I want to see more of him. I can see him growing to be a big character at one point. He's by no means boring imo and i don't see the point of cutting his journey short when he still has a lot to offer. I don't really care for emma but she isn't really boring she's proven herself to be quite clique and a bit of a drama starter, she's also a tad messy with all her breakdowns. All Marco has is that he is annoying and his showmance and even that seems to of dies down apart from him and Lauren he was pretty much in the background today. imo he's used up all his cards and I have no interest in seeing anymore of him.

Yes you are, because I addressed it in the post you replied to first that I know Marco isn't the only big character this series and the series will not immediately collapse after his eviction, but that it will start the process. You keep implying I think he's the only star and that the series will be over if he's evicted when I've said on several occasions that isn't the case. You are missing the point.

The thing is though, people don't enjoy watching Marco. Why would people want to watch somebody they hate every night? Entertainment is subjective, and clearly, the majority of us think we'd be more entertained by the show if he wasn't there.

People love to hate people and they love to watch people they hate. It is not a conscious thing or something someone would admit but they do, there's a reason why dramas, films, soaps, plays have both antagonists and protagonists.

The number of people who would stop watching this series because of Marco is extremely low. The number of people who may end up hearing about this series and consider watching because of Marco is higher. And that's because he's a divisive character that sparks discussion which in turn gets the show more attention. The same would not be true of a housemate like Alex or Evelyn, again the number of people who'd stop watching because of them is little if not non-existent, but the number of people who would consider watching because of them is - at present - zero.

It is better to have a strong, hateful opinion on a housemate than none at all. Without these housemates, the show would fall flat on its face (which it often does when several of them leave in succession) and it's just detrimental to its success and indeed future. No idea why any fan of Big Brother would want to sign off on that tbh

There's nothing to talk about with Marco though. It's all just "ugh", "he's gross", "how trashy". If you have a problem with the series having too many dull characters then that's the fault of the casting - it's perfectly possible for there to be big names evicted first and the series carries on to good things. BB7 lost Sezer, Bonnie, Lisa early on and is still regarded as a classic; BB6 lost Lesley & Maxwell quickly; BB13 lost Chris & Lydia.

I can see why there's cause for concern with this series when there's Alex, Jackson, Sam... but I think all of the others are delivering in some capacity/could offer more. Perhaps not Laura but then who knows :laugh:

Well obviously I'm viewing it selfishly - isn't that why different people watch different shows because everyone enjoys things differently?

And Vote to Save is also a selfish voting method so I don't get that point either.

And I disagree, if I have a bad opinion on someone, I'd much rather that person be removed from the show completely so I can enjoy the show more positively, rather than removing someone who will not affect how much or how little I enjoy the series at all. I form my eviction decisions based off who I want to win. I will never want Marco to win, and I'd rather not watch him, irrespective of how others view him (and I can't be far wrong, seeing as he's topping most of the polls).
