do you think housemates should be told of this important piece of history?

No

On the off-chance that it makes Sam very upset and he votes to leave the house, yes
Oliver_W
24-06-2016, 04:13 AM
It could affect Chelsea's business, and anyone else among them who owns properties or stocks.
Maybe all those who voted should be told.
_Tom_
24-06-2016, 04:14 AM
They can find out when they leave the house.

If they can break the no outside contact rule to show housemates fan tweets then I think they can for referendum results I mean it's certainly more important.

Stupid people voting to leave the EU.
.......and no. They shouldn't be told. There's few enough of the original Big Brother values and rules left as it is without losing any more.

Yes, I think any major event and especially one on the scale of this one should be told to the house.

Yes, I think any major event and especially one on the scale of this one should be told to the house.
Why though ?
They knew this was happening when they went into the house so they had the choice not to go in if they wanted to have knowledge of the news outside the house!
Big Brother is a pretty simple concept and anyone who thinks they should be making exceptions obviously doesn't get what it's about. Why don't they just give them 24 hour TV, Laptops and phones FFS!!!:bored:

As it could effect them and their lives outside the house, yes I think they should be informed about the decision. Yes, they signed up for a show that cuts them off from the outside world but this isnt a small thing thats going to brush over and be forgotten before they leave. This is a huge decision where they live and shouldnt be withheld.
Kazanne
24-06-2016, 04:57 AM
Yes and they should have had the right to vote too.

This is a however a one off and very big moment in history.
If they can be told when Michael Jackson died and David Bowie died, then really this is a decision in the UK that will affect their lives and even futures possibly too.
So they should be told it in my view.
Odd exceptions can and should be appropriate.

Yes, this is quite a historic moment, and one of those rare moments the housemates should be told something from the outside.
Although would any of them care? I can't imagine any of them apart from one or two even understanding the EU vote.
BBDodge
24-06-2016, 06:48 AM
Only Andy would be bothered and he'd have nothing of interest to say about it.

No - it wouldn't affect their time in there and no outside contact - but that seems a joke these days on BB.

Yes they should. Being on a gameshow shouldn't prevent them from knowing about such an important event. I also think it could be interesting to see them discussing it.

I like the idea that they could have voted inside the house. Imagine that! Drama caused by political debates rather than who stole who's drink, or who said what about someone else.

Sam and Ryan would probably ask 'what's the EU?' :p
Channel 5 will probably opt to tell them in the hope it causes an argument

It won't....it's not trivial enough...
They may worry that cheap plastic surgery in the arse end of Poland may be a bit more tricky.

Tbf it wasn't technically BB who told them about MJ's death

Would have been hard for Noirin to keep it secret, with or without BB's permission.
_Tom_
24-06-2016, 12:28 PM
In fairness, they were only informed about Michael Jackson's death due to Federico spilling it to Noirin. And they found out about Bowie only because his ex-wife was in the house.

24-06-2016, 12:39 PM
Yes. It will probably upset Andy.
Vicky.
24-06-2016, 12:40 PM
Sorry, but if they had to be told things like MJ had died and the scores of some football games...I kinda think this is slightly more important
Wizard.
24-06-2016, 05:44 PM
And that we no longer have a PM they'll probably think it's a hoax or a task
Sorry, but if they had to be told things like MJ had died and the scores of some football games...I kinda think this is slightly more important
Didn't Frederico tell them though?
iloveaisleyne
24-06-2016, 06:00 PM
Yes, i am so ready to hear Evelyn's thoughts on Britain leaving Europe
Vicky.
24-06-2016, 06:14 PM
Didn't Frederico tell them though?
Hmm maybe yeah, don't remember it properly. I am sure they have been told before by BB when someone has died though, I just can't remember who...or I may be making it up and believing my own lies :suspect:
I don't mean Bowie, that was exceptional circumstances
Shaun
24-06-2016, 06:19 PM
yeah Noirin was told by Federico about MJ during the "classic BB" task or whatever it was, and Angie was notified about Bowie for obvious reasons
It's quite obvious that they're told about all sorts of mundane crap now, probably get phonecalls to their kids every week - wasn't it Marco who was told about his ex tweeting of their open relationship whilst in the house? - so they can be told about this.

24-06-2016, 06:33 PM
Well I can't see how it really effects them while in the house.

24-06-2016, 06:43 PM
Yes!. The vote was -really- important, it'll have a big impact on them when they get out. I hope they got chance to vote as well.

Nothing will happen for at least two years so they absolutely do not need to be told while they're in the house!!!
How will them being told or not make any difference to them while they're in the house ?
We might as well just cancel BB right now if you think they need to be told things like this.
Marsh.
24-06-2016, 07:08 PM
Sorry, but if they had to be told things like MJ had died and the scores of some football games...I kinda think this is slightly more important
I don't think they had to be told either, didn't some dickhead visitor tell them both times?
I actually do think it would be quite interesting to see their reactions.
Lets be honest, none of them apart from Andy will even know what the EU is :hee:
Shaun
24-06-2016, 07:11 PM
Jayne literally said "I will annihilate EU" last night, Josy, keep up

I dont see how leaving the EU would affect a scam artist.

Well, one was an ex husband of David and it was Federico that told the housemates about MJ like 3 weeks after he died, BB stayed silent until then.
Maxxie.
26-06-2016, 09:43 AM
The whole point is no contact, I'm okay when they find out things that aren't actual news or obviously when family dies or something (If it was 9/11 say, they should of told the house in America but BBUK wouldn't be neccesary.
I don't mind them finding out something that isn't that big of a deal though, for example Drake getting 11 weeks at No.1. I mean last time that happened with Rihanna it started one of the most classic BB arguments with Charley & Chanelle so fingers crossed I guess.
