View Full Version : BB is boring.

This has been the worst year I can remember for BB.
I miss the days when there were normal people in there, not Z list celebrities, models, groupies, reality TV 'stars'. I don't relate to any of them and it's become like watching Towie or something.
Last year had normal people with a smattering of celebrity harpeys.
I don't think I'll be watching next year. It's just become like a freak show - getting the most socially detached people they can find and making car crash TV.
That is all.
Last year was far from "normal"

Last year was far from "normal"
I know. But far more so than this year's bunch of complete sociopaths.

Can't deny that this year has had the most 'z listers' that I've ever seen, but I think it's been anything but boring, especially compared to last year. And even though there's been a lot of z listers, I still think the cast have been great overall, and some of them have still been relateable. People like Emma and Laura for example have both had media experience but have seemed really relateable, down to earth and normal to me.
It's just become like a freak show - getting the most socially detached people they can find and making car crash TV.
I think they've been doing this since series 5 tbh

It's good but overrated af

I've been thoroughly enjoying civilian BB for the first time in years. The only time my interest lagged was during that crappy task where they kept putting the boyfriends in.

This year is a massive improvement. Hasn't been this good since BB13

The last time we had normal people in the house was BB4 and even before that BB3 and 2 was filled with fame hungry people.

Hmmn. I'm a minority then it seems.
I just liked when it was just people trapped in a house, no twists, friends and enemies were made just on the basis of face value - not something instigated by big brothers twists.

Nothing of interest has happened for weeks except the evictions. I think BB16 being so bad is why this series is popular.

Not in my case, I'm liking it because I'm finding it to be a great series in it's own right. I suppose it depends on what you class as being "of interest".

Fun, drama, big characters, meltdowns. What made the likes of 3,5,6 and 7 so good. All I remember is showmance from the last few weeks, which is boring.

it's basically been the same as BB14 imo. Great start, slows down around week 3/4, get's a tad boring as it goes on, storylines that aren't very interesting..

But there's been all of those things.

There's a few big characters but all the other stuff has centred around Hughie and Ryan, Alex and Evelyn, Georgina and Jackson, Jason and Charlie. I don't dislike this series, but it's been massively overrated. I loved it at first, but it's been dull since around the end of week 2 bar a few episodes, imo.

This could be a factor if I'm honest, or at least in the beginning anyway. I had such low expectations going into this series. But I think that there have been a lot of low-key moments (rather than big storylines) that have been great, and that have made the highlights feel much more like the ch4 days compared to recent series (which is why I've been against big things like annihilation and the ex-boyfriends etc). Although I'd struggle to name individual moments that have been great off the top of my head, I've still enjoyed every highlights show, and I don't think I'd be enjoying them still if it was just because of BB16 being bad.

This series stopped being interesting when Natalie was evicted imo. Jayne is the only one keeping me interested atm.
The week after Natalie went, we got a whole week dedicated to the dire Jackson/Georgina showmance and the whole Evelyn/Jackson/Georgina thing and contrived Hughie and Ryan thing. Not to mention the Charlie and Jason thing which was also tiresome.
When Natalie was in there, you had the brilliant feud between her and Jayne and Hughie - and say what you want about her but she was a great for the dynamics even if she was an awful person.

Still loving it there hasn't been a bad episode imo.

The first few weeks have been great but the past week or so? Brutal.
I think this series has been far from boring. I've loved it (apart from boyfs going in and annihilation)

It definetly went downhill after Natalie's eviction but it's never reached the lows of BB15 or BB16.
Daniel.

I agree with that but I would say the first three weeks of BB15 were nearly as good as the first weeks of this one.
Jason.

It's miles better than BB15/16. But BB13 still ****s over BB17 imo.
And I slightly prefer BB14 to this series.

I still think that the first 3 weeks of BB15 are some of the best C5 BB weeks (minus the noms twists and **** tasks)
Daniel.

I think I'm out the loop with BB lately, because CBB17 was awful and BB17 average, while people think there great.
Jason.
13-07-2016, 06:57 PM
I think I'm losing interest in BB overall. Like the last full series I actually watched was CBB15.
Every other series since then I've either stopped watching or missed episodes without even caring (I'd never miss an episode of BB 3/4 years ago but now I don't care if I do).

You aren't alone on this... I feel the same about BBUK
And sure... all the people going in have been fame hungry for years... but not to the degree this lot are. It's the whole z lister thing this year that made me lose interest fast... Where are your average joe type people... teacher, waitress, barmaid etc... not party girl, aspiring DJ, and gold digger :idc:

I think for now BB17 has been good enough to where I'm actually going to bother to watch BB18 at least.

I would too.
I said to myself before this series started that if BB17 is the same as BB15/16 I'm done with the civilian run. But even though BB17 isn't all that, it's still a heck of a lot better than those two.
I hope BB18 take it back to how it was like during BB13, but they won't.

At the very least they seem to have sorted out the nomination situation so that's an improvement

I think it's been one of the best...in spite of most of them being camera savvy types.
Last year was dire, only liked one housemate and they got booted out pretty sharpish ....and apart from the hideous creature that won, I didn't even dislike them with any passion either. I also thought Helens year was crap. This year has been a real mix.
I think this year is much better than BB13
Daniel.

You didn't even watch BB13 properly, you watched it while another series was on so you couldn't be gripped and then stopped

You may have a point, but I genuinely feel I can say quite objectively I think bb17 is better

I agree there are still too many Love Island moulds but honestly even some of them this year have delivered on being a good housemate. I think they've only miscast one or two: Alex who's offered nothing and Sam who's done the same.
If we can get to the stage where the hot male totty is replaced with one more completely different person (heaven forbid, maybe even someone who's not white), I think we'd be at the stage where the casting isn't the problem, it's just the tasks, outside influence and hugely condensed series length.
This series has had more than its fair share of 'characters' and each eviction has resulted in a major one going and having their story arc closed. Marco was a whirlwind of sleaze that got on everyone's tits and was promptly dealt with, in historic BB fashion. Natalie was a complete moron who talked over everyone and got just desserts. Georgina looked ready to settle down into a tedious showmance when she got another deserved boot for being a miserable bitch, and then Charlie got evicted for being a bunny boiler. Now Chelsea has gone for being a generally unlikeable dick, Jayne looks next for being too good for everyone else, and we're still left with Lateysha, Hughie, Andy, Jackson, Ryan, Jason and Laura who've all delivered a fair amount of drama. Not to mention the walkers/ejections also having a big say in house dynamics.
I do wish there were more video updates on YouTube or their website because we're effectively just being spoonfed their romantic issues with one practical joke or instance of Ryan vomiting a day, but I am willing to hazard a guess that if this were given the coverage and openness that Big Brother prior to 2011 was, we'd put this down as one of the best series.
