Yeah he's my least favourite winner
Yeah he's vile. Possibly my least fave housemate of all time.

Not at all. Deserved. Coused so much drama, tv gold, etc. Of course I'd love Jayne, Evelyn or Hughie to win, but I'm happy to see Jason as this year's winner.
But I'm a little bit suspicious about his victory. Couple of days ago he demolished half of a diary room and spent nearly 2 hours speaking to BB. Did the production guarantee him victory to keep him in the house and not letting him go? I don't know. I'm happy anyway if it was a set up or not. Still a better winner than Andy or Jackson.

Yep. He won on a sympathy vote. He has no personality whatsoever and people just felt sorry for him after the court case. The same reason Helen somehow managed to win.

Sam Evans will always be the worst male winner. At least Jason did something.

I think there's been a game plan from day 1 if you look back at my posts on Jason and Charlie, they were a tag team imho.
I would be interested to see his odds, if he was an outsider, odds wise, out of the top 4. Possibly betting syndicates raking it in?
Deffo not, Cameron, Brian Belo and I'd guess Sam Evans and Luke Anderson were worse.

I am really really disappointed. Why would people vote for Jason to win the money when he already had 20 thousand. And he has been so miserable lately. Wait for Charley jumping on him now to steal some of the limelight. Hughie and Ev are my true winners tonight
...no? He's superior to Sam, Cameron and Aaron, and at least equal to the likes of Anthony and Craig

I hated Anthony, I only disliked Jason.. But then again Anthony didnt have competition so it didnt feel much of a loss

Pretty much this.
And an extremely unpopular opinion but I'm kinda glad he beat Hughie? (who's beyond overrated on here and in general)

...what?
Hughie isn't really exceptionally popular here. In fact there was way more votes here in favour of Jason winning over him in both the winner poll and the runner up poll. He may have fans but I've seen plenty here call him overrated, not just you

Yeah I was expecting a reply from you.
I mean he's easily the the second most popular BB17 housemate on here after Jayne. And whether more people were in favour of Jason winning or not is irrelevant as I'm judging on the series as a whole. Jason was virtually non-existent in the first few weeks whereas Hughie was consistently popular and had a lot of support as early as Week 2, none of which I really understood as I didn't see the appeal whatsoever (especially in the later weeks because honestly I got bored of him after Week 4)
Also r.e Jason getting more votes than Hughie in the winning polls: I guess you're also forgetting the uproar on this forum the night of the final when Jason did win and him pretty much being labelled as the worst winner/housemate ever and topping the worst winner polls (even when Helen Wood exists and about 97% of this forum are anti-Helen). I mean this poll and the other two you bump up every other week are perfect examples. I'm not complaining though, he was awful but Hughie's by far the more popular housemate of the two as far as TiBB standards go. Not to mention most Jason supporters also liked Hughie, whereas the same can't be said for Hughie supporters.
I honestly disliked both so either one winning was a lose-lose situation for me. I'd rather Andy won after both Evelyn and Jayne had been evicted.
Epic.

(I mean this poll and the other two you bump up every other week are perfect examples).

Evelyn and Laura are more popular here than Hughie.
In answer to you and probably a couple others being baffled by the appeal Hughie had I can explain. It's just general things. People find him naturally funny, completely genuine and down to earth, and not playing up to the cameras at all. It would be the usual reasons shows like this would have a public favourite. I personally like him moreso for how he displays his bisexuality despite being an irish traveller, and doesn't have anything to hide about himself and is completely open even though he comes from a reserved background. It's fine if you found him overrated, not funny or annoying, but anyway there's the appeal of him explained.
I don't even mind Jason that much. I saw a YouTube video Andy posted interviewing him and hearing about the struggles Jason actually had in the later weeks does bump him up in my estimation a bit. It's just that Hughie was a much larger contributer to the season for me, even though Jason was arguably the quote-unquote "Main Character" of the season, what with the amount of storylines and impact he had to certain plots and plot twists
Babayaro.

I quite liked Hughie at the time, but he doesn't age well at all as a housemate. Looking back, he was a bit of a terror.

Yeah I kind of feel the same about him. He was just totally average to me, I didn't dislike him but I didn't see what there was to love about him either. I'd rate him higher than Anthony/Cameron/Chloe/Craig/Helen though. (Yes I include Helen in that even though I haven't seen her series  )

The only time I can admit that I agree is the time he followed Andy around everywhere, repeatedly labelling him a "liurr" and a "story carriurr"

Even though I liked him and support his win, of the 6 finalists he was my 4th preference so yeah I certainly don't see him as one of the greatest housemates ever but the level of vitriol aimed at him on here has been so odd at times. Things like counting him amongst the worst housemates of all time, suggesting he was probably a domestic abuser etc. :umm2:

Digital Spy seems a good representitive site of the general public and different ages and sexes, giving a better indicator of populatiry. Whereas this website is predominantly LGBT males - that will support a rude woman and call it 'entertaining/sassy/fierce/hilarious', but then have double standards if a male was to act similar by calling it 'vile', and if a man dare argue with said rude woman, it also makes him vile and the rude woman a 'queen'.

poor Carole doesn't deserve to be that low.
Beneath Steven, Sallie Axl and Billi Bhatti? I don't think so.

He didn't really do anything aside from vote out Lateysha. He was carried by superior housemates who created narratives for him to barely participate in.
He's not the worst winner (Hello Sam and Helen) but he's in the company of the worst.

Or alternatively, we just don't like boring winners who barely participated in their series.

I agree. There is a lot of under 30s here, who are largely female or LGBT males. On DS there is a mix of ages from 18 to 80! So in terms of general popularity, it's more precise, BUT imo here we get more people who vote, on DS barely anyone votes (however i remember a lot voting for Jason) and I have never seen so many happy faces on a thread (the finals BB17 thread) when the winner was announced.

I did prefer Hughie obviously though. Odd how TiBB and DS have very different views.
Here;s the huge "Your All Time Housemate" Results from last month on DS:

I like HMs of all types, ones considered nice, some who are a pain in the ass etc...
I have no typical type. For example, one year Science BB6 was a fave, another time, Rachel BB9 was, Helen BB2, Alex BB3, Ray BB4, Victor BB5, Aisleyne BB7, The Twins BB8, Ben BB11, Freddie BB10, Deana BB13, Gina BB14 etc...

I take it we are not including CBB winners too? Otherwise bear would be way ahead of everyoine else.
For a BB winner I would say Anthony and Sam were the worst male winners.

I'd still call him better of a winner than Cameron, Anthony, Belo, Aaron, Sam, and Helen, two of the people listed not even being that bad either

No :spin:
Yeah he's vile. Possibly my least fave housemate of all time.
Still true
Or alternatively, we just don't like boring winners who barely participated in their series.
Ugh this is so true. So annoying when people whinge about people not liking men when like 80% of BBUK men are boring af. Why do people care so much? I WILL like entertaining women if I want to.
Epic.
07-08-2017, 01:55 PM
Ultimately my main problem with Jason as a winner (not as a housemate) is that to be an entertaining one he always needed to rely on others. His dynamic with Andy is because Andy is a vocal person. His feud with Charlie comes from Charlie's expressiveness. Him evicting Lateysha is pretty blank from his perspective and is more memorable for the OTT reaction by all the housemates to it. The only time he really started standing out on his own was the last two weeks (which is one of the ways he won). Hughie on the other hand is the exact opposite of this, and by extension so is everyone else Jason was up against (not to say I wanted Jackson or Andy to win over him, no way.)
A fairly okay housemate but not a very good winner

She really wasn't. She was liked but not loved and was no where near as popular and everyone makes out she was.
I also find it ironic that you say Jason only got hate for evicting her when I seem to remember Jason only becoming a favourite with certain people on the same day he evicted Lateysha
I always hated him for his cruel treatment of Charlie.

This is true. If I recall correctly, nobody cared too much about him up until this point.
And I don't think people should be complaining about Jason's fans when a few people on the opposite side were constantly calling him abusive etc with no evidence to back it up. Highly doubt Charlie would be screaming "take me back" if he was that bad of a person.
Very pleased with the poll results though.

Old post but I agree.

Charlie didn't do anything bad!
She was led on Jason pre show and then left confused by his cold and distant behaviour in the house which eventually led her to (correct) conclusion that he was playing a game.

She lied he cheated on her, she kept trying to win him back after him repeatedly saying he's not interested, generally a burden to him in there, etc. I really liked Charlie and I know she had good intentions don't get me wrong but I still believe both had equal kind of problems.

I can't remember the cheating thing so can't comment. She kept trying because she was confused about his behaviour within the house when he'd been leading her on just a few weeks prior.
I always thought it was really unfair since she was actually chosen as a housemate by production and he was recruited as her ex yet they gave him housemate status and made her an Other.

That's just not factually true, it's not even a matter of opinion. If you believe that Jason was the best winner then you are just straight up wrong. He was objectively terrible. He was a non-entity in his own series, any storylines he had were carried by other HMs and he only ever did one thing in that house and that was pushing a button.
He lacked a personality, he didn't do much in the house and he was just another winner that won because they were inoffensive rather than on anything resembling merit.

Eddie.

Jason did something that changed the atmosphere of BB17 by evicting LaTeysha...he was really brave to do that and did not let the other HMs opinions affect him. He's the second best male winner for me with Pete above him.
Cameron, Anthony, Brian B and Sam all say hi!

Sam did nothing at least Jason was involved in storylines.
So I’d say Sam
Eddie.

Anouska from BB4 and Sam should have swapped places...
Epic.

Love whenever this thread ends up bumped lol.
Anyway as horrified as I was with Jason's victory, he himself I don't really mind that much and he was actually a pretty big aspect to making BB17 what it was, just as much as Hughie, Jackson, and Andy had. Lots pin him as boring especially compared to those three but he was actually pretty involved in a lot of things. Although I did prefer when it was Anthony doing that....

Was a bit meh about him at the beginning, but by week two I started to like him. Brilliant game player.
