Parts of this like the live DRs, comps and ceremonies sound cool - as does the potential for the key wheel to come back in some form if that's what the 'safety ceremony' entails. Plus Jason or Jozea returning is definitely a draw for me

But America picking the winner is a massive turn off :/ I've no interest in watching the game playout for ten weeks only for them to hand someone like James the win. The two formats shouldn't intermingle just cause they're too cheap to house the jury for five weeks :bored:

True, but after years and years of being dissatisfied with jury votes I'm not all that mad about it I don't think? And we haven't had a bad AFP since BB14 so that's a good sign. Then again, the voting figures should be a lot smaller since it's only airing on All Access but who knows. This whole thing is some ****ed up science experiment of a BB season, and BBUS really is in need of a massive ****ing overhaul, so I'll welcome any change at this point tbh.

It will be 12 plus either Jozza or Jason making 13.

Its only a short season like season 10 was so I would assume 13 people.

Oh so nvm the intro vids are on cbs.com... Idk if they were there when I checked earlier but either way these are my comments on the cast as I watch them:

Cornbread - pretty wacky... I like him. Just even the nickname and everything about him screams ridiculous and hopefully wild :joker:

Danielle - seems very sweet and being an athlete and competitive in the comps is usually a bit of a bonus with me so I like her a lot

Neeley - pretty lulzy / lots of personality and some spice to her... my only worry is that she could be OTT (:idc:)

Whitney - extremely bland to me with a southern accent ... her video was just weird

Shelby - LOL @ the whole thing... seems bitchy but in a very likable/wtf/hilarious kind of way :joker: she reminds me of so many different people at once so it's hard to tell what she's gonna be like... EDIT: I don't even think bitchy is a good way to describe her... more so blunt... and the former HG's she reminds me of are like Talla, the twins, and a few others that I can't really put my finger on right now. It's a weird/crazy combination and I love her already.

Scott - Yeah that's Steve... I think Steve was probably better but I could like Scott, I could not... although wanting to win as many comps as he can is a bit different for his archetype

Morgan - she's sort of alright but maybe better than I'm anticipating... positive attitude, probably a gameplayer, very pretty, that's all I have to say and nothing bad

Alex - she DEFINITELY seems like a gameplayer and for sure quirky like she's stated to be... I put her around the same category as her sister Morgan for now.. and I'm interested how the sister thing will play out

Monte - He's definitely ok but idk much else to say yet. Seems like a good guy who's a little bland. Wants to be a comp beast which is a plus if I do like him especially if he's aligned with people I like.

Kryssie - I like her but just ok. I was expecting her to be kinda out there but she was actually very normal/basic in that. :joker: She likes the idea of forming a tight alliance like the Brigade, which even though many find it boring I actually like when a loyal group sticks together and goes far as long as I like the people in it.

Justin - LOL I love this guy. I think pre-season favorite :joker: :joker:

Shane - He had the shortest video but he seems like one of the nicest people in the cast and probably the most level-headed... Predicting a winner right now I'd say it's either him or one of the sisters.


I mean it's hard to dislike people after 1-2 mins but I actually think this is a really great cast on first impressions.

The main priority of this season is probably to get a few more potential All Stars in the mix. A lot of these women seem to have pretty big potential as either gameplayers, entertainers, or both (the men as well but there's only 5 and they don't stand out as All Star-caliber as much from first impressions aside from possibly Shane?).

And I'm sure there will be at least some people on here that disagree with this but I think at the moment it's pretty clear that there are way more realistic male houseguests for an All Stars season than there are female. Especially if they don't want too many 3rd & 4th time returnees. So it makes sense that on this cast they have 7 females to 5 males and a returning male that would've never been chosen for All Stars. They're starting to get a lot more legit options now (Paul & Nicole are close to locks after this season IMO and last season definitely had a few that are likely to return). So if certain people can't do it they'll be alright with replacements. This season will help that even more especially on the female side I think.

No. One of the things that is synonymous with Big Brother is the summer. There's just a different mentality we all have during the summer months. And also I feel like the reasons Big Brother stays popular is we get a crop of new fans every summer. Kids are home, there's no school, they can't drive yet, they check out this new show they've never seen, they're online a lot whereas throughout the year kids are in session, there's homework. And meeting the three nights of real estate a week, that's tough.

Speaks volumes about the state of the show these days. Big Brother isn't a ****ing kids programme, stop pandering to them

What you just described is jury management though, which is half of the game. If you can't convince (at minimum) four or five people you've lived with for three months to award you $500k/$1m you don't deserve to win. That is the game. Sure, I'm not happy with the outcome of every jury vote in history, but it is what it is and ultimately the blame (mostly) lies at the hands of the person I wanted to win - and I can deal with that, in much the same way I can if they're voted out.

But with public voting? It's on a whim, certainly in the UK the public's taste is appalling - and I know this'll be contentious but I'd go as far as to say BBUS has far better winners overall than we do. The biggest problem though isn't any of this, it's the fact that it makes no sense to spend ten weeks playing an isolated social game among your peers and then to have the winner determined by a popular vote :shrug: you could do all the work and then lose for something trivial like not being attractive, not playing up to the cameras all season, etc etc. Pick a format and stick to it

If you make it to the end and the jury doesn't vote for you to win, then that's through your own fault, not the jury's. There are no guidelines or regulations as to how one should or shouldn't vote, so if you want to win it's your job to manage the jury to the best of your ability and give them reasons to vote for you.

As for whether I'd prefer a public vote vs. a jury vote for the winner, I don't really care and I don't think a public vote would be that bad? Like, just compare the last four AFPs to the last four winners.
