Mother-of-two Sophie Newcombe, 26, was unpacking the weekly shop when she spotted a white nest attached to the side of a banana.

She dropped the fruit in fright and both Sophie and her partner, Ashley Gamble, watched in horror as the Brazilian wandering spiders escaped in all directions through their Leicester home.

The venomous spiders have a bite that cause long and painful erections in males, followed by death, within a matter of hours.

Spiders don't tend to bite, although they do like to hide in shoes and behind pictures on walls ..... I used to live in an area with venomous scorpions, spiders, snakes and the most vicious caterpillars ever imaginable .... sure kept you light on your feet.

When I worked at Tesco a few years back, we had to check each bunch of bananas before putting them out since it incidents like this happen more often then you'd expect.

Put me off them for life.

This is why i always buy them loose in store.

that way when you get bit you can bone the hot shelf stacker for 4 hours.
