CELEBRITY Big Brother bosses are preparing to blow their budget on an even more explosive ‘Summer Legends’ line-up.
Producers are planning to bring back stars from both Channel 4 and Channel 5 versions to mark its 20th series this August.
A source said: “They’ve seen this series as a bit of a trial and error, but the formula has worked well with viewers.
“They’re upping the budget for guests too and will spare no expense to make it the best out of the 20 series.”
It means legendary characters such as Shilpa Shetty, Vanessa Feltz, Katie Price, George Galloway, Jim Davidson and Dappy – famed for motorboating Jasmine Waltz’s boobs in raunchy Jacuzzi scenes in 2014 – could all return along with a new roster of huge star names in a huge drive to boost viewing figures.
The bumper show – which has the working title Summer Legends – will run after its regular Big Brother edition, which this year features a new twist by auditioning pairs of housemates, including twins and mothers and daughters with “strong opinions”.
Like the current series, it won’t feature ex housemates from the regular versions, such as fan favourites Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo, as bosses don’t want it to be like Channel 4’s final mini series Ultimate Big Brother.
Ratings were the worst yet for a January run after a slow start to the new series, but the introduction of cleaning expert Kim Woodburn and her furious rants have seen viewing figures almost double with 2.1 million tuning in last Wednesday to watch security step in and split up the warring cleaner from her fellow housemates.
A source added: “The number is up on last year’s figure for the same show and up almost 500,000 viewers week-on-week, securing the show its best numbers since launch night – producers are keen to capitalise on the momentum by lining up and tempting back even bigger names while there’s the hype. ”
This year’s CBBUK 2017 has been the longest run yet with the final on February 3 meaning the celebs have been holed up inside the house for 32 days.
