The way Channel 5 have treated this show is absolutely laughable. What exactly is the point?
They really shouldn't even bother.

CBB to get the extra weeks? :fc:

Can stand those nightly programmes. Utterly horrific.
Surely not? That's sooo short :(
reece(:
24-05-2017, 03:33 PM
What even is the point?
A week longer than CBB lmao

^^ Just over a month
Oh C5 have told bbspy that it's subject to change.

Oh C5 have told bbspy that it's subject to change.
This means if the series flops they can end it at 40 days?
Jason.
24-05-2017, 03:35 PM
I'm screaming
Just axe this garbage
Their reluctance to have Friday finals meaning it ends on Day 36?
lewis111
24-05-2017, 03:36 PM
I hope it changes, even if it's not a great series of C5 are choosing to air BB they owe it to the fans to make it a decent length, even if it was slightly longer than Bb17 id be ok that didn't feel massively short
Gusto Brunt

A shadow of its former self. :(

This means if the series flops they can end it at 40 days?
Probably yeah, after all the backlash they got for cutting last series short, wether they planned on having it 50 days all along or not
Jason.
24-05-2017, 03:40 PM
They've slowly increased the duration of CBB over the past two years whilst decreasing the civilian, C5 aren't even hiding it anymore lmfao

Apparently it's to cover their back if ratings flop they won't get harassed for 'shortening' the series (as it's already short)
But it means there's more chance of it being extended if it does ok
Calderyon
24-05-2017, 03:49 PM
So less than 6 weeks?

24-05-2017, 03:54 PM
This is ridiculous. Is it only to make us feel good with ourselves when they "do us a favour" and "extend" it to its real length of 50 days?
I'm not buying it. Endemol should prevent this stupid idea.
...they seem really confident
just kill it
Jason.
24-05-2017, 04:09 PM
I don't get why they have to almost halve the length just because of ratings. Like it's C5 BB, it's never going to rate over 1.6m so just try to actually put some effort into providing a good series instead of cowardly reducing the length and worrying about how many people are watching.
Even C4 stuck with the duration of BB8 and that was a MASSIVE ratings drop at the time (and still is).
Greg!
24-05-2017, 04:10 PM
A mess. They'll probably extend it though
Jordan.

24-05-2017, 04:37 PM
If it rates similar to last year, I can see it being extended to maximum 58 days, if not, it'll be 40 days or less

Well he says it's longer so?
a far cry from the days when it used to be 9+ weeks long.

8 weeks would be decent.
10 weeks is a drag unless it's phenomenal series.

24-05-2017, 08:51 PM
I hope its not the case, seems a bit pointless to me only having a series last 40 days. Last summers series also felt really short compared to previous years. I would imagine this is because the celeb series starts straight after the summer series?

Erm? Last year had terrible ratings and was one of the shortest series to date.

Considering it was the highest rated civilian since 2013, no, the ratings were not terrible

This for me too, 40 days is long enough imo (I've always felt BB went on too long even in the early series  ) Most series of BB drag in the last few weeks so short and sweet is fine (although I don't even think that 40 episodes/6-ish weeks is 'short', it just is compared to what we're used to... it's still a fairly long time.)

Longer.

In seriousness though, I would prefer atleast 64.
Gusto Brunt
25-05-2017, 09:27 AM
Longer.
9 weeks?
I actually think this would be a good idea, suspect many casual viewers are put off by the length of the civilian series because it's too hard to keep up with it religiously over two months especially in the summer when people have a lot of stuff going on
andybigbro
25-05-2017, 10:20 AM
9 weeks?
Yes :)

Good. If it's ****e it will be over and done with. If it's good, they don't run the risk of it falling into a lull and pulling off awful twists for the sake of it.
I'm sure they'll extend if they've got it right this year.
