View Full Version : If ratings go below 500K could BB be pulled before finishing?
Just thinking about it and how it's at the low end of 800K including plus one and the high end of 700k without it... If it keeps dipping and dipping it won't be worth the money they put in and they might just can it and split the money up with however many housemates remain?

Doing that would be more damaging to it's reputation then it would to just see it out and wait to recuperate the costs with CBB.
At best we'll only have one more CivBB series though, C5 will only go for celebrity series if the Civ series continues to tank.

It's half full with the same type of reality stars that go on CBB anyway so it's no big loss at this stage. We lost normal BB years ago

That's true, I also feel kinda like they wouldnt risk doing another Civ one and just do CBB

I can't see that happening. Not mid series anyway.
What could happen though is it could be declared as the last one if it continues to plummet.
What should happen though is they should change how they do certain things.
Mainly -
How they pick the house mates.
Not changing the voting system every week.
Allow it to be a bit edgier again(not just swearing and vulgsrity).
No evictions in the first week!
Just these few things might bring back some older fans perhaps, I don't know.
Thing that bugs me is Emma claims to be a super fan yet she seems on board with all this rubbish. I like Emma but it's not what it was no matter how much she claims it is!
However, I have enjoyed it so far this series but I enjoy it most years despite all this. I guess you could say I'm like a drug addict getting my fix because it's all I know!

The highlights should be on at 9pm.
It's the 10pm slot that's losing ratings..

In fairness to Emma though, she can't exactly go about saying she hates the way the show is doing things when she's the face of it

Well maybe she shouldn't be the face of it then. If she feels for it as she says then don't be a part of it.
She could easily get another, more lucrative job in my opinion.

The time is killing it to be fair. I like to be all ticked up and in the land of nod by 21:30.
I watched the first few episodes on Catch up but what fun is it always being behind and having to avoid things all day until you see it?!
Channel 5 is trash anyway so surely they can pick their slot?!
its unlikely to be pulled, but they could ramp back on production costs considerably. Shelve bots for a start, then reduce the nightly highlights to twice a week for example.

It should be on at 9 pm every night, not at 10 pm when people go to bed.

It would be pointless even watching if they did that

I get the feeling that this is the last Civ BB anyhow. They might as well just let it run the 9 weeks.
I guess they could even move it all to 5Star to burn off the rest of the series :worry:

Thats what they did in the Aussie BB when the ratings fell on its last series. It would be the end of the show though in terms of future seasons, that's a given.

They have ruined the normal series anyway. Reality tv stars should only be on cbb, not normal bb. Says a lot when the only normal guy in the is our Raph.
Give Raph the win then you can cancel it :P

I think that would be worse as it would go up against ITV/BBC dramas

I would have the highlights at 8pm.
However it's the swearing and abuse that prevents that.

Well burying it away at 10pm isn't working either.

They might bring the final forward but they wouldn't just pull it off the air.
They'd hold out hope that cbb makes some of their investment back and then just cancel civilian between seasons.

It will be interesting to see how much of a difference officials make. I haven't been watching it live Mon-Fri due to work (need to be sleeping by 10pm to feel any bit alive for work...). I wonder if this is a problem for many other viewers and quite a few people are watching on catch up.
If ratings did plummet really low however, they will try a 4in4out/Armageddon Week kind of twist first, then bring the finale forward if need be.

It would be unprofessional (even by C5's standards) to pull the series before it ends. They'll probably just decrease the series length to the forty days that were rumoured.

There's no way the ratings will fall that low. It's been at least 1million every night until last night.

Chances are this isnt the last Civ BB series unless they cancelled BB and CBB together. I remember hearing that Endemol see BB and CBB as a package deal. A channel can't have one without the other, Endemol won't allow it.

I feel like if they focused more on making a good show than on stunts to get viewers in they would get more loyal viewers. I guarantee they wouldn't be in this position if they didn't take advantage of the hard core fans from the second they got the show.

Don't be so bloody stupid man
If it falls that low, they would probably move the show to 11pm. Below 500k viewers at 10pm would be unacceptable but I don't think it will drop that badly. Pulling the show off the air probably wouldn't recoup the production costs that they spent already either so I guess they would just move it to a later time-slot or reduce the number of episodes per week.
