I know it's off topic but I've seen so many comments on Love Island these past few weeks that I had to take a look at it. I've watched the first 10 episodes so I really tried getting to know how it works and what the show is about.
Some people say it is better than BB now, has better housemates, a better production and is more entertaining.

And I can just say, I don't get its success. It's OK and somehow entertaining when it starts but I was getting bored after 4 days already and it's not getting better.
The contestants are a joke. The fact that people call this cast better than any BB cast is beyond me. They are all likeable, but not very entertaining or have exciting personalities. If BB's cast gets branded for being one dimensional, this is 100x worse. People complain about typecast and housemates that previously know each other. Guess, what there are at least 4 people on Love island who have some kind of connection

The production is good though, the camera work mainly. The games look a bit more expensive than BB tasks nowadays but in the end they are just party games.

The VTs look exactly like BB's.

Apart from that, it's a mixture of BB, the Bachelor and any MTV-reality show that I used to watch 15 years ago.
It's basically a BB-clone on an island purely concentrating on showmances.
Fair enough if people like it and watch it but please don't make it out to be something classy and innovative. BB18 has been far more entertaining than this imho.

No but in all seriousness, I don't think anyone has ever made out that Love Island is classy or innovative?

It's just as lowbrow and trashy as Big Brother

Not this year BB hasnt been in my opinion. You probably saw the thread I created. I have watched every BB since BB3 and I know Love Island is only in its third year but I watched both shows last year and the year before. Maybe its just because BB is so disappointing that I like LI better but thats how I feel at the moment. However if everyone agreed on everything there would be no forums. Different strokes for different folk Peace

Been watching both this year (LI for first time) and I'm finding Love Island to be more enjoyable atm. BB does seem to be getting better though.

Love island doesn't pretend to be classy or elevated... it takes the piss the whole series... especially with the amazingly funny Scotish announcer. It's hilarious viewing watching these so called beautiful people.. to which I never find any to be that amazing... take themselves and the program so seriously.

There's something about the difference between BB and the terrible people going in having fake showmances to stay in... and Love island where the actual game is having showmances and the people themselves believing in it... it just makes it easier to watch and laugh at.
