I still think Jessica is gone because we never have nice things BUT either one of Maven being cut right before Jury would be so righteous, just because I can't think of anyone as irrelevant and useless as the pair of them, they've literally done nothing.

It would be great if Paul went because it might be interesting to see what everyone does without him down their ear or popping up everywhere.

BB19 might actually have life if he goes.

Matt trying to avoid the block while talking with Raven and saying that the reasoning is that this is the safest time to go up and he'd rather go up "when it matters" :joker: :joker: :joker:

Still worried for Raven now. :worry: Idk why... :joker: I feel like it probably won't happen but with people being split between voting Jessica or Elena out it's a good time for just a few people to group up and take out the replacement nom (Raven atm). Although I do feel like it would be more of a juicy attempt to go for with Matt sitting up there.

I'm catching up on what I missed today about Raven. Today alone she talked about the REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY class she took in college, how she needs to get a new pacemaker AND a complete hysterectomy AND knee surgery, her ~Raven disease~ is where her chromosome 10 is folded so it basically is missing (?) and since that chromosome affects digestion she has really bad arthritis (???), and the stairs give her so much anxiety that her chest tightens up whenever she walks up and down them.

Fair ****s you want to support Cody out of convenience, but he really is a ****ty person. No other houseguest would get away with saying that. Sure that would have been a better response and it would be nice if she educated him on this issue because he is clearly ignorant when it comes to this. I imagine as a marine in Texas he probably has never met a trans person before. Best we can hope for is for him to meet Audrey and see how cool of a person she is and maybe she can change his views on transgender people.

I would really want her to educate him on the issue, and fingers crossed he does meet Audrey and potentially apologises for what he has said.

I get the Texas thing, and how he isn't from a cultural background where trans people are apparent. However, we've seen a couple of trans people compete on BB and Survivor, and people from various backgrounds have accepted and tolerated them entirely. I don't think I can accept that as an excuse. It pisses me off more, as I don't think Cody is a wholly terrible person...but some of his comments are really terrible.

In regards to Jason, I do think his comments stem more from a place of ignorance as opposed to disgust and fear, unlike Cody, who just doesn't seem to give a **** and is aware that what he's saying is wrong, but still continues to do so. The fact he's made these comments on more than one occasion now proves this.

I think I've grown to feel sorry for him more than anything. He's a lost soul, imo.

The trans comments are far too ignorant to accept, however. He's so unapologetic about the situation. It's not shocking, but still gross.

Jason.
07-08-2017, 04:19 PM
I think the problem with Jessica is that she's clearly aware that what they are saying is offensive and she knows better, but she isn't really speaking up about it. I think her laughing is more out of shock and being uncomfortable, as opposed to finding it funny.

It kind of reminds me of BB15 and how Aaryn would make a racist remark and Kaitlyn would laugh while being like "Omg, that's rude you shouldn't say that". She won't speak up because the person making the comments is more dominant and she doesn't want to make a big deal about it, even though it is.

Even if Audrey was in the house, I could bet the other side of the house would be treating her like **** as they have done with Jess and bullied her. Sounds like it was basically just Josh talking beforehand about how he wanted to pick a fight with them just for fun/bc other people wanted him to, Cody threatened to beat the **** out of him on the outside, Jess just yelled at him in typical Jess fashion, and then Josh went upstairs crying. Meh, 6/10.

However, I wouldn't even be too bothered with him going at this point after 1 1/2 seasons of greatness. This is the worst season in years though?

It's really not, this is up there with 17 for me and tbh even that had a worse pre-jury so at this point it's the best since BB11

It feels like an old school season, I don't know what it is but it just does. The house decor, the twist not feeling like it's taken over too much of the season, the endless drama, the house divide (even if it is just against two people). I know all the elements haven't gone completely but it seems to me like the show has almost gone back to the pre-BB16 days of not being targeted at 12 year old girls

Every person who says this is a good season also happens to like Paul so it makes sense.

It's definitely the worst season, out of the handful I've seen.

You can just as easily flip that around though and say that the people who don't like this season also happen to hate Paul and love Jody? It goes without saying that with few exceptions, people will generally judge a season depending on how their favourites do

I do get why people aren't liking it but at this point I'm starting to think they're all pretty disgusting (I don't even like Paul as much this season, I only want him to win to avenge Nicole's disgusting victory) and am just enjoying watching the car crash unfold? It's kind of like the BB15 effect (though not quite as bad) where the majority were all so hateable, but it was still a good season

With the exception of Elissa it was pretty much the same in BB15 though but I'd still put that way above 16 and 18?

But everyone's different I guess, I don't mind watching some seasons of RTV without a favourite, I didn't get one (Chanelle) in BB18 until pretty late on this year and had none in the final but still found it a decent series

I've not watched BBUS feeds properly for years, they're always harder to access than BBCan and tbf I've been pretty busy this summer and always behind on the eps so wouldn't have had time, I'll try and watch some going forward if I can because I've done a bit of reading and have seen how inaccurate the edit seems

The point at which we disagree though is I could never have seen myself liking Cody regardless, I can appreciate him as a humorous DR and unusual BBUS character and for the purposes of the divide but I doubt I'd ever like him as a person. Whereas with Jess I didn't mind her and in another year she'd have probably been my fave

That's a fair point actually, but I'm surprised cause I didn't think anyone on this forum apart from me and a couple of others really cared about gameplay? All I usually see people say is so long as there's drama and people to support (first strike against BB19, I guess) then they don't care about the actual game

Also just some clarification quickly, does the Raven hate stem from her lying about her endless diseases, or the fact she won't stop mentioning them? Or both?

Both. "Raven's disease," the one that she claims doesn't have a name despite five MILLION people having it, means that her tenth chromosome is folded over and that somehow simultaneously affects her digestive system but gives her arthritis. She claims that gastroparesis is terminal, which is false. Her parents are guzzling money through a GoFundMe with a goal of $200,000 to make up for her medical bills, despite Raven buying a new car last year and operating I believe two dance studios. She's reportedly had two years to live since about 2009. Somehow her mother and her brother suffer from gastroparesis as well despite it not being hereditary. She entertains the idea of freezing her eggs even though she's apparently a dead woman walking, but insists that she has an 80% chance of passing down BOTH of her terminal diseases to her offspring. She conveniently cut her toe after Christmas broke her foot and then proceeded to gradually increase the number of stitches she reportedly got, turned her limp on whenever she was around Christmas, and took her sock off before approaching Christmas when she came back from having surgery. She immediately took to one-upping Jessica when it was the anniversary of her father's passing by listing all the tragedies in her life. She admitted to being part of the cat ears/coke fiasco and then got indignant when Jessica told Alex that she was. She was icing her wrist when the feeds came back on from Cody vs. Josh and claimed that she got hit with a frying pan despite being nowhere near either Cody or Josh. She literally "banged her knee" into a table on purpose and faked how much it hurt. She cut her finger last night and immediately went into the green bedroom to show everyone her bloody finger.

And if you dare speak about ANY of this on Twitter, her mother doxes you and tries to report you to Child Protective Services if you have children of your own :) Happy gastroparesis awareness month, y'all.

They are all so wack (except Jess, hey boo boo) I almost want Paul to win because he's the only one doing sh!t at all in there.
I feel like this season got personal real quick and feelings are taking over. They are all in their feelings and don't foresee any game moves but 'I don't like him/her so get him/her out'.
It somehow feels kind of BB UK to me with the cliques and personal attacks.
But there has been more discussions about GAME in BB18 UK that what we have seen so far this year with this cast.

The BBUS equivalent of BBUK15?

Kind of indeed. Even BBUS15 didn't feel like it, and that was awful.
I don't know how to explain it, but even reading live updates and how the overall house works make me feel like this is a personal game rather than an strategic one.

It's not a bad thing for me too, but this year they are just awful.
The whole thing about Jess & Cody didn't have to go this far and this deep.
And that's not cool to watch, at all.

That's a fair point actually, but I'm surprised cause I didn't think anyone on this forum apart from me and a couple of others really cared about gameplay? All I usually see people say is so long as there's drama and people to support (first strike against BB19, I guess) then they don't care about the actual game

okay, so my take on it is that while I could not give nearly as much of a **** about gameplay as A True Superfan Should (shoutout to Reddit turning on Jess in the eleventh hour for... not playing a good game and getting evicted? how dare she), I do believe that gameplay can and does often serve as a vehicle for good natural drama. However, the gameplay this year has only led to contrived drama and we've watched three or four people have the same argument for six weeks now. Paul's gameplay is legitimately suffocating -- pick the target two weeks in advance, create a smear campaign against them for daring to have a mind of their own, command the entire house to ostracize them and not talk to them, send Josh to pick a fight with them a few hours after the POV Meeting, wipe Josh's tears away when he cries and spin some bull**** rhetoric about how they are the ones being BULLIED by [pariah of the week], and then leave the target so over it all that they just fold and don't even bother to campaign. I don't give a **** how effective it is because it's actively ruinous to this season, pretty grimy on a personal level, and it led us to have the same repetitive Jody vs. Paul by proxy of Josh bull**** for six weeks. Every argument has been the same -- Paul commands Josh to go and antagonize Jess and/or Cody, Cody shows initial restraint while Jess verbally assaults Josh, Cody may or may not threaten to murder Josh when the cameras aren't there to record it, and then Josh runs back upstairs and cries about how he's being bullied and they're taking the game to such personal levels.

BB15 had far more decent people Jessie, Candice, Elissa, Helen, Howard
even Kaitlin on the bad side wasn't a vile person through and through.

This season literally had 1-2 decent people that went within the first few weeks.

:clap1:

Plus there were power shifts in BB15 and the Helen/Elissa HOH reigns slayed :clap1: BB19 has yet to have a good HOH reign (Jess & Cody wasted all theirs on irrelevants) and Bad HOH reign = Bad week

:umm2: so her time on this show is basically just a way for them to scam money out of viewers? Pretty crass to say the least. How was all this found out, did someone on Twitter just get fed up with her constantly mentioning it and decide to do their research?

The bit in bold is part of the reason I like the US format so much and get invested in the game (and why I'd love the UK to switch to it but that's for another time)

The rest of what you've written I largely agree with so don't have much of a response, apart from to say I must just be able to tolerate it for longer? I don't know why it's not bored me yet, granted Paul's good standing is no doubt contributing to my enjoyment and I expect if I'd been watching feeds as much as you and others I'd have probably tired of it by now (tbh that's probably the reason) but idk, maybe I'll end up feeling the same soon? I think for me it's just refreshing to have a season that - as warped as this is - has some dark undertones? And uncomfortable scenes? I realise it's never going to be a Shapiro era season again but it's nice to have one that isn't (for the most part) something that would belong more on Nickelodeon than primetime CBS, as BB16 especially (and subsequent seasons) have been.

I actually think Cody's return hindered rather than helped the season, because Jess seemed to be making inroads or fading into the background after his departure and I began to like her more, which is why it's a shame she's left before him since I don't think he can repair any of the damage. On another note, why is Paul in such a good spot btw? I do think his time will come unfortunately but I'm surprised he's escaped the block for as long as he has post-immunity. Are the majority of the newbies really that enamoured by him? Is his social game really that good?

I stole this from Reddit but it really shows how much of a strangehold Paul has on this game and why it's very unlikely he's going anywhere anytime soon

Alex
Has said to the cameras that she wouldn't mind getting 2nd to Paul and coming back for a 2nd season.

Josh
Yesterday, to Xmas in private: "I think Paul ultimately is riding with Kevin. I don't think he will have my back 100%, but I'll always have his 100% no matter what."

Matt and Raven
Yesterday, in private: Raven suggests using Paul as a pawn if she wins HoH. Matt shoots her down. He tells her that if she has to use a pawn, he wants her to use him instead of Paul.

Xmas
Yesterday, to Josh in private: "I will have Paul's back no matter what. But I don't think he'll always have mine. Remember last season? He never told Victor right before he left. He had to look out for himself."
But also: "I questioned Paul for a minute, but it was only because we haven't sat down for a conversation in a while."
And today, about Jess's speech: "Why would Paul be a bigger target?!?"

Mark and Elena
Mark to Elena, 9:30ish BBT today: "It'll be fine. We just have to make sure Cody goes home this week."

Cody
Not Paul's biggest fan.
